Albone2112
They're playing Nashville in December, and I am not at all psyched about it. I agree they should've bowed out after finishing that tour where John Entwistle died before opening night. As for the post Keith Moon material, Eminence Front is in my top ten Who songs of all time, and I also like You Better You Bet and Another Tricky Day, so while the albums may have not been very good they had some shining moments. nobodys hero
I saw Daltrey last year when he performed Tommy. He had Simon Townshend to help with vocals. He did the best he could and there were some notes that just made you cringe. All in all not a bad performance but certainly not what most are used to hearing. Not the same. I agree but you can almost say the same about when Moon died, never made a great/good album agian imo True but a lot of great live performances with Kenney Jones and later with the best moon replacement Zak Starkey. Zak yes, Kenny ? Not so much What about Simon Phillips ? I liked Simon Philips!!! He was probably the most "technically" skilled drummer that they ever had. But he was hardly a member of The Who. Definitely just a touring drummer for them. But I liked his treatment of Tommy!! He's just a joy to watch. But anyways, I'm actually good friends with Roger Daltrey of the Who (no I'm not kidding) so I'm looking forward to meeting Pete this time around!!! And Quadrophenia is probably my favorite album of all time for any band. So it's gonna be a good year!!! Not to mention I'm seeing The Who 4 days after Rush!!! smsterner94
QUOTE (Union 5-3992 @ Jul 23 2012, 01:25 AM) My dad saw The Who in the 80's. He said they sucked then, not much hope for them now. Oh honey, don't judge em til you've seen em. I thought the same thing when I first saw them in 2006, because I had seen a video of them at a recent show where Roger's voice sounded HORRENDOUS and I said "Dad I don't want to see them, they sounded awful." I was EATING my words by the end of that show!! It was very clear that Roger had had bronchitis or something during that show because they freaking rocked the house that night. And every other time I've seen them since then. So really, you just have to go see it to get a good reading of their condition.
smsterner94
QUOTE (ReGorLaTroy @ Jul 20 2012, 06:59 PM) What is sad is the fact that Pete and Roger (reportedly) can't stand each other. Not true. They are not like brothers the way Alex and Geddy are by any means, but they certainly do not hate each other. I'm friends with Roger, and when Pete couldn't make it out to a charity event that we were at due to an expired visa, Roger was definitely bummed. They are really almost like a married couple in a way just from everything they've been through and how long they've been together. The fact is that they are just completely different people who have been bonded together through their music and their late band members. So now that all they have left is each other, they've gotten quite close since The Ox passed. So while they may not be the best of friends, they are certainly friendly at the very least. Hearing what I've heard about their hit and (often) miss live performances, and knowing the tickets will be outrageously expensive with half a Who band, I think I'll save my money and let my prejudging make my decision to see a better band this Fall. Usually, I'd agree with you, but I just don't see this being a good idea at all. I'd love to be surprised, but I'll check YouTube for the surprise. Not pay $150. deathlikesilence
tickets are $59.50 for the atlanta show, and with ticketbastard's service charge i'm guessing it'll be about 70 dollars what the hell man
