CruisingInPrimetime
They're both so awesome it's hard to judge. CA is like 1,000,000,000,700 and SA is at like a 995,000,000,000,000. Out of 10. So I guess I like CA better, but when we're speaking in numbers this large and music this brilliant it's pointless to compare.
drgrendel
QUOTE (Gompers @ Jun 18 2012, 08:04 AM) Good thing that is just opinion, Tickster. S&A still ranks over CA with me. S&A is much more dynamic. While CA is in your face, S&A is easier to listen to start to finish without wall of sound mix issues. You can hear Alex's guitar much more clearly as well as Neil's drums. CA is very good, but to me, it just doesn't top S&A as a complete release. +

Tick
You can all think what you like, but the album is a classic. Snakes And Arrows is an ok Rush album. In my opinion. Edited June 20, 2012 by Tick

ReflectedLight
QUOTE (Tick @ Jun 20 2012, 03:32 PM) You can all think what you like, but the album is a classic. Snakes And Arrows is an ok Rush album. 3 or 4 good songs but nowhere near a classic for me. it doesn't flow along easily imo. too much geddy singing which i didn't want on this album and some of the songs are just all over the place. doesn't have that flow they had from the 70's and some of the 80's. ReflectedLight
also with nick r. being neil's lead for some drum ideas and acting like a maestro, this says neil's well was running a little dry. like i said, i like a handful of the songs but there's also more than 1/2 i don't care for. EmotionDetector
QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jun 20 2012, 03:47 PM) I don't care how good it is compared to anything else, so long as it's just plain good. The rest takes care of itself. That's the key. With Rush especially, I never compare any album to another. It's clear as day that no two albums are usually the same, and yet, they manage to make them good regardless. I think that sometimes, some Rush fans simply cannot like much of any new Rush album because they're too busy comparing it to Hemispheres or MP, and being 'disappointed' that it doesn't match up to them. Big mistake IMO. I'm a realist in that, their run from say 2112 - HYF was amazing. Like, insanely great. I mean, how many bands are able to string together 9 albums in a row that are THAT strong, and that so many of their fans enjoy as much as they do? Not many at all. So these days, when I put a new Rush album in, I'm simply listening to it as a regular fan of music and figuring out, 'do I like this?', 'Is it good to my ears?' Well, with S&A...the answer was YES. With CA, the answer is once again, YES. These albums may not be another PeW or MP, but I'm okay with that. At almost 60 years of age, these guys have so many reasons to be proud. Their new music is still relevant, and still has fans like me fired up to hear it live.
