Great first night in NYC. The music and the TRF company was outstanding. I will spend the day clearing the cobwebs from my head and get ready for another night of Marillion, lead by the great Steve Hogarth! 1022.gif
OCEAN CLOUD! 1022.gif

and by the way, try the crab cake wrap, its to die for. atickhum.gif

Great meetup with you guys last night, and a great show! Hogarth's voice was in fine form, Rothery's guitar soared, and the whole band was ON.

It was an amazing show! I NEVER thought I would have the chance to see them live. It was surreal, and I was very close to tears a couple of times. Getting to hang out with you guys for it made it twice as special. We had soooooo much fun! I haven't laughed that much in a long time. biggrin.gif

btw, tick... I'm back at work today, too. Sucks! angry.gif

It was an outstanding time. I only wish you were there on Wednesday night as well.

Not having missed hearing them play House makes it a little bit ok. But, it looks like it was a crazy good show. I'm really surprised to see that they played Kayleigh. That must have been mind-blowing! I would have loved to hear Cannibal Surf Babe too. "I was born in 1960-weird." yes.gif

Seeing them in Philly tonight. I wonder which variation of the setlist we'll get tonight.

The 2004 Philly show on the Marbles tour was one of the very best concerts I've ever been to. I know the band has friends/family from the Philly area so maybe they always give us that extra push. Regardless I'm looking forward to a great show.

and I am a real man. Unimpeded by any preconceived notion of what a man should or should not eat. Unaffected by striking light bulb workers. I ate the wrap, and it was good. atickhum.gif

I've been away from TRF for awhile, it took Marillion to bring me back! I went to 3 shows in 3 nights (LA, LA, SF). It was possibly the best 3 days of my life. They are the absolute best! I was able to briefly meet the band on Wed June 27. I'll post some pics when I have time.

I bought the downloads of both of the New York shows. Great set-lists on both nights but I thought that Mr h sounded a bit ropey (especially on the 12th). The two new songs are great. "Lucky Man" would easily make a top 20 single for any more popular band.

Marillion and New York City are two things that don't seem to fit together really...

Only in your mad head, Mallard-features.

What you think they go together?

Marillion is more Whitby, Yorkshire than New York City....

Yes, I think their music is quite suited to a living, breathing city and its charms and dark sides.

Whitby is lovely, I've been there, quite lovely it is too, but I think Whitby is more Steeleye Span than Marillion.

Fish definitely poured his Lothian heart into his Marillion, but H has made them much more worldly.

If we're looking for an American Marillion city it's still not New York, it's more likely Norfolk, Virginia or Providence, Rhode Island...

Coincidentally, I saw both Fish's and Hogarth's versions in NYC -- Fish in '84 when they opened for Rush at Radio City Music Hall, and H last month in this thread's featured show.

Marillion are just not big enough for New York, there's about 1000 artists ahead of them in the queue...

And anyway what's wrong with Norfolk, Virginia? Or Providence, Rhode Island? confused13.gif
