Newbie on the forum, but certainly not the band

Hey now, everybody. I've been snooping around here for a little bit and decided to go ahead and join...I've been listening to the band since about 1979 or '80. I was introduced to them by my older brother (stepbrother), and I have this crazy connection, a very emotional-type history with Rush.

I have to admit they fell off my radar for about ten years, from about Test for Echo up until just a couple of years ago (OK, I guess that's more than ten years)...but I've been busy finding my way back home, so to speak. Heh heh.

Looking forward to the new record, and maybe going to a show or two (I haven't seen them since the tour for Counterparts, spring '94)...and getting to know some of you.

I really don't listen to any other prog rock or modern rock...I'm much more into blues, blues/rock and folk. I'm pretty picky, and very opinionated, but that's not to say disrespectful.

All I can say is hey, what a groovy example of happenstance it is that in the whole course of human history, that we all get to exist in the same space and time with these three fantastic musicians...innit? Don't you think?

welcome aboard. 1287.gif

I can relate to your 10 year period being without Rush. I was also not listening to them much around Test for Echo. For me, it was around the time of Counterparts that I was becoming more interested in other music. It wasn't until Geddy's solo album and Vapor Trails that I came back, although not as the fanatic I was back in the 1980s.

Welcome to TRF - you'll find the beer stocked in the fridge, and the restroom is up the stairs, first door on the right. Make yourself at home, but please mind your shoes on the carpets, we just finished vacuuming.

Welcome BlueJ!

I'm Carrie, another fan who grew up with Rush's hits and had a friend in high school who was big into Rush, but lost track of them after that until they came back here two years ago and I finally got to a show! I was hooked, and have dedicated my life since to making up for lost time!

Hope to see you around the forum and maybe on the tour! bekloppt.gif

This is a fun little place in our crazy world. Make yourself at home.

The general consensus on this board is that Caress Of Steel is the best Rush album. tongue.gif (at least in my head)

When I was about 15, I used to freak out everybody in the house by playing the Necromancer really loud at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning. No lights on, you know, just the glow of the stereo system, that's all.

You have fantastic taste in other musics, too, by the way. Right on.

Excellent...my first Rush show was when I was in high school, on the Presto tour. My most recent show was only about four years after that. So yeah, I'm severely due for it again.
