And the award for best sci-fi comedy goes to this brilliant gem:

In the 90s, I became aware that this film had a cult following, so I rented it.

I must be missing something.

Best sci fi/comedy? My pick would be Galaxy Quest or Back to the Future.

I'm with ya bro, I tried but it just didn't click with me.

It didn't really click with me either. It was a really weird movie. Often I like really weird movies A LOT, but for whatever reason I just wasn't loving this one. Didn't hate it, but it just didn't do it for me.

Here is a little gem I am going to add to my list.

The Poorly titled 'Planet of the Vampires'

The influential horror director, Mario Bava (Black Sunday (1960) and Black Sabbath ), really takes this mid 60s Italian pulp Sci-Fi-horror flick beyond the actors and the script. You can really see the influence this had on 'Alien" and many other modern movies of the genre. If you are a real fan, this is not to be missed.

Characters are unremarkable but they are all dressed up in black leather!. The sets have a kind of TSO look but as a whole the planet rises far above that and is really quite remarkable given the budget.

The "midnight movies" dvd print is really good and has the original eerie score. The same one is used on netflix.

Well I guess this is one you either get or you don't.
