Viruses...and other things

I have Norton Internet Security on my labtop and I just got a threat when I downloaded something off the web. It makes me ponder on the time and energy meant and put into the creation of viruses and trojans. The world sure as hell is a scary place. With all this chaos and mayhem in literature and other things. There's porn and there's plagues, viruses, and other casualities. Nice planet you're leaving us Mom And Dad! Which is one of teh reasons I'm running for Conservative party in the presidency once I'm 35!

I just don't understand why somebody would pay for Norton when you can get a better antivirus for free.

and no, I hate Nate because he's a juvenile idiot with delusions of grandeur. As for you, it's about the same, bar delusions (as far as I know) hotdog.gif

Norton is a waste of money, hard drive space and memory. It slows your computer to the point where you need 2 gb of ram just to run it. Norton barely does it's job. Yes it says it detects a thousand threats per day but most of those are tracking cookies and are no more harmful than American mosquitoes. Yet Norton boasts that by paying for anti virus programs you get better defenses against intruders but only achieves protection against small fries. I've been using Avast for 3 years now and I haven't gotten a single virus on my computer. I can also boot my computer 2 minutes faster than I would with Norton.

Stay in your basement for the next 30 years, that will give you real world experience. Then you will have the experience needed to run for the conservative party!

I've been doing this whole computer/IT thing for... roundabout 15 years or so.

Norton is shit. All of it. Every single Norton product is pure garbage and there actually came a point with a friend of mine years ago where I refused to fix his computer anymore until he did a complete drive format and reinstalled Windows without Norton.

It causes far more problems than it fixes.

About the politics? The world isn't a scary place, especially if you're basing your fear on porn, computer viruses and um, plagues. But if you think you can wipe out... plagues... by running for president as a conservative, you go right ahead. The other stuff you mentioned has been around longer than almost anyone on this board and we've managed to survive this long. We'll be fine.

Chaos and mayhem in literature? Really? So as president you'll... have book burnings? Take control of the publishing companies? Shut down the internet?

And to think they haven't even found a cure for the common cold. It's called common for a reason.

Viruses are actually kind of interesting. They aren't technically considered 'alive' because of our current cell theory, which is seemingly false in some way despite the fact that it hasn't been discarded yet. Wikipedia time. cool.gif
