Good, bad, andrush
List three of your favorite parts of a song or album that totally make you say, "screw it! I'm buying this album." Top three moments of the Close to the Edge album by Yes: 1. That tiny bit of "And You and I" at about 7:00 to 7:30 of sheer beauty, of sheer...I feel so happy...stuff. 2. Lost in a wormhole during that creepy atmospheric "I get up I get down part." 3. That delicious riff kicking into "Siberian Khatru."
goose
When I previewed Queen's "Miracle" at WOM in Bonn I knew I had to get it. 1. The pounding drums on the first track 2. Deacon's bass work on "Invisible Man" 3. The intro riff for "I want it all" Classic Queen was back. (I miss huge record stores...)
Tommy Sawyer
Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull (not quite bought yet) - First line. "Really don't mind if you sit this one out" The first time the song goes to rock. The closing riff of part 1.
GrandDesigner
Coheed & Cambria's Time Consumer. First heard it back in 2003, and what hooked me was: 1) The long intro. I was deep into only progressive rock at the time and this felt proggy enough for me to initially latch onto. 2) That VOICE! It was unlike anything I'd ever heard before, yet it seemed vaguely familiar since I was such a proghead. 3) The pop/punkiness of the music. I was 100% ONLY into prog rock, yet I was getting a little burnt out on it and wanted to explore some new genres that were maybe a little more simplistic and direct. This band seemed like the missing link between prog rock and a world of unique, catchy music. Still one of my absolute favorite bands, but the fall of 2003 I spent driving around listening to Second Stage Turbine Blade was so much fun, partly due to this album. Can-Utility
The Lamb Lies Down: 1) When the whole band joins in on Fly On A Windshield 2) The bass pedal sweep on Back in NYC 3) The segue from In the Rapids to It Jesus, it's so hard to only choose 3, this entire album is full of little moments like this, just subtle things that hit you and make you say "wow!" Good, bad, andrush
Another Thick as a Brick one...or 3 The chorus of the beginning, absolute beauty on the flute. Do you believe in the day? That is intense stuff. The strings at the end all random. Wow.

No, really, i have been listening exclusively prog rock for 9 years straight, and i think i can do it for other 9 years. Lets see: Selling England By The Pound -"Can you tell me where my country lies..." -The guitar solo in Firth of Fifth -The complete song After the Ordeal
