Perfect Rush Albums

I read in another thread that Rush hasn't made a perfect album in awhile.

So in your opinions, what are Rush's perfect albums.

Remember perfect is tough to achieve but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

With some thought, these are my choices...

1. Hemispheres

2. Permanent Waves

3. Moving Pictures

4. Presto

5. Grace Under Pressure

6. A Farewell To Kings

7. Signals

There are other great Rush albums but by my criteria of needing to really dig every song a lot, these are my choices.

My choices are not really in any order by the way.

It is a hard choice, but I can narrow it down to Permanent Waves or Moving Pictures. There are a multitude of stellar moments before and after, but these two albums will be cemented more and more as standouts of the era as time goes by.

Perfect......... hm. Alphabetically:

Caravan/BU2B - I'm counting this, but if you want to disqualify it for not being an album, that's fair.

Grace Under Pressure

Hemispheres

Moving Pictures - I'll give the nod to this one even though I can't stand listening to Tom Sawyer or Witch Hunt anymore - at one time, I thought they were perfect, and intellectually, I still do. I just don't enjoy them as much as I used to.

Permanent Waves

Power Windows - I'm amazed at how much this has moved up my personal favorites list. I wasn't immediately impressed by it, but it's easily in the Top 3 now.

Presto - this is my number 1 favorite.

Vapor Trails - say what you will about the mastering, the music is what counts and I love it. Almost didn't make the cut because of a couple of moments in Ghost Rider and Secret Touch, but overall, I think it's fantastic.

Honorable mentions:

Counterparts didn't make the list because BS&M bugs me.

Signals, because I can't stand Countdown.

Are you kidding me Ticky Sticky?

You and I agree on something again based on the band RUSH??

This thread is beyond simple. Even I can participate in this one.

Not only is "Hemispheres" perfect it's the greatest album ever made on the earth.

Absolutely.

I would add Rush and Grace Under Pressure.

Then there's Caress of Steel, Power Windows, Hemispheres....pretty much a perfect career!

Chronologically...

Hemispheres - perfect in every way

Permanent Waves - From that arpeggio to the waves, stellar

Moving Pictures - yeah, there are a few songs that I think I'm tired of hearing but if they come up on shuffle, I just can't NOT listen to them

Power Windows - took me awhile but now I love this

Hold Your Fire - I love every note, every drumbeat, every word

Roll The Bones - I know I will get razzed for this but I love every song on the album

Presto - honorable mention; there's one song I'm not as in love with as the rest

I can only think of two, where every song is a great song by Rush standards.

Hemispheres

Moving Pictures

If the topic were Great Rush albums or Awesome Rush albums as opposed to Perfect Rush albums, I would cetainly expand the list.

Great thread.....

I would say that the following albums would qualify as perfect:

Hemispheres

Permanent Waves

Moving Pictures

Signals

Grace Under Pressure

Not coincidentally they are in order from 1978-1984, which was Rush's peak time.
