Green Day deserve a lot of credit for staying true to themselves, resisting the sell-out pattern practically every other band succumbs to and maintaining a fresh and sapid sound. Whenever I've occasion to commandeer my mom's car and go for a spin, I find the experience most enjoyable with American Idiot blaring through the speakers. In fact, yesterday on a drive back from Jerusalem I picked up three hitchhikers (including two beautiful girls who, alas, were minors) and I could hear them humming along to "Boulevard" and a couple other tracks in the back seat.
