My sister had Breakfast In America on vinyl, and I loved the album and the cover. Never cared about any of the other albums I got (on cassette) the same way; I remember being disappointed in Brother Where You Bound in particular.

Brother was the first post Roger Hodgson album so no surprise it was disappointing...Supertramp is definitely not the same without Roger.

Having said that I do like Cannonball from that album...the only track I care for in the the aftermath of Roger leaving.

Speaking of Roger his first solo album (In the Eye of the Storm ) after leaving the band is most excellent.

Awesome buddy! I think "Crime" is essential as well but that's about it.

I love everything from "Crime" through "Brother Where You Bound". I found that between Davies and Hodgson, there was a neat combination of playing styles and vocals that made them very unique. I've heard that there are wives involved in the feud between them (evidently Davies' wife was the band's business manager at one time), so I doubt that we'll ever hear anything from the real Supertramp again.

Going to listen to Crime of the Century tonight.

Really, it was only due to a couple of people on this forum that I was compelled to buy any Supertramp albums. I'm so glad I did! Fantastic prog-pop.

I must say as much as I love this band they truly only have two masterpieces. "Crime" and "Breakfast."

And the rest is bullshit!!

Oh, no...Crisis? What Crisis? and Even in the Quietest Moments are both strong albums. They may not be masterpieces, no, but they're far from shite. They're very good albums.

I've never thought of it as honky tonk...but I can understand that that sound of theirs, which is very distinct, could be sort of an acquired taste.
