Alright! Playoffs are locked! Here's my bracket, friends. Criticize as you wish, I'm sticking by this.

EASTERN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS:
1 Washington Capitals v 8 Montreal Canadiens
Caps in four. Montreal is nowhere near good enough to beat the Caps in a seven-game series.

2 New Jersey Devils v 7 Philadelphia Flyers
Devils in five unless the Broadstreet Bullies decide to make an appearance. Philly needs to get physical if they want to make it through Marty Brodeur.

3 Buffalo Sabres v 6 Boston Bruins
Really? Chowderheads are toast. Sabres in 5. There's a lot behind this rivalry. Boston can beat us...but only in shootouts.

4 Pittsburgh Penguins v 5 Ottawa Senators
If both of their planes could blow up, I would be happy...but that won't happen, so I guess I'll take the Pens in six. (fake heart attack) Damn that hurts...

WESTERN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS:
1 San Jose Sharks v 8 Colorado Avalanche
Until proven otherwise, San Jose will NEVER make it past the first round again. We all know how the Sharks work: amazing in the season, blow it in the Playoffs. Avs in 6.

2 Chicago Blackhawks v 7 Nashville Predators
*sigh* As much as I like the Preds, the Hawks will destroy them. Hawks in 5.

3 Vancouver Canucks v 6 Los Angeles Kings
I love my Canucks, and my girlfriend is rooting for the Kings because of it (and she loves Johnathan Quick). The Sedin Line is dangerous, no matter the opponent. Nucks in 6.

4 Phoenix Coyotes v 5 Detroit Red Wings
Well the Cinderella Season is over for the Yotes. It's sad to see them gone so soon, despite how shockingly successful they were this year. Wings in 7, due to age.

EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS:
1 Washington Capitals v 4 Pittsburgh Penguins
Oh look...it's a rematch of LAST YEAR'S Semi's. However, Washington won't get paid to shit the bed in Game 7 this time. And I only hope that Alexander the Great destroys The Princess this year. Caps in 7

2 New Jersey Devils v 3 Buffalo Sabres
We've beaten the Devils before...numerous times. This will be no different, but it will take a while. Sabres in 7

WESTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS:
2 Chicago Blackhawks v 8 Colorado Avalanche
I love me some Mile-High Sports. Chicago may be the "Destined Team" this year, according to VS...but I have faith that the Avs could pull off the upset. Colorado in 7.

3 Vancouver Canucks v 5 Detroit Red Wings
Again: I love my Canucks. With LA out of the way, the lone Canadian team left has to make it out of The Joe alive. Not a problem for the Sedins. With Luongo in net against Jimmy Howard, this will end in Overtime...in Game Six, with Vancouver on top.

EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS:
1 Washington Capitals v 3 Buffalo Sabres
Well, well, well...the same exact Finals I predicted last time. Buffalo below Washington. Only this time, I think we can pull this off. We've beaten Washington before (even shutting them out once) and it will be quite a battle to pull this one off. Sabres in Double Overtime of Game Seven.

WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS:
3 Vancouver Canucks v 8 Colorado Avalanche
Okay, this is kind of a dream matchup for me, I'll admit. I might be dreaming, but it is possible. (Isn't everything in the Playoffs?) There's quite a bit of history between these Divisional opponents, and I'm happy with whoever wins. However, Vancouver still needs a trip to their third cup to face my Sabres. Nucks in 7.

STANLEY CUP FINAL:
Vancouver Canucks v Buffalo Sabres
OKAY. I SWEAR I DID NOT PLAN FOR THIS. okay, maybe I did, BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER.
This really is a dream matchup for me. The Class of 1970 battling for Lord Stanley's Cup. Each have had two trips to the Final, with both ending in losses. One team will finally claim it's first Cup, one will fall to 0-3 when playing for the Cup. Of course, my Sabres will claim total victory at home in Game 6.

Once again, my friends. Pick it apart as you wish. Hawk and Snowdog, we've talked about the Hawks, and we all know how we can get. Deal with my picks and make out your own bracket if you really wanna argue with me. tongue.gif

I can live with this prediction yes.gif

I think you got everything right in the first round except the San Jose/Colorado match up. Avs made a mistake trading one of their top guys, Wolski. Ever since that happened, they've been hanging on for dear life to make the playoffs. As for your final, I can see Vancouver going far but Buffalo taking out Washington... no.gif Btw, why did Miller leave the game today?

Here is a little hockey question for all you fanatics...

Has their ever in NHL history been an NHL team in the playoffs without a captain?  I'm thinking about the Habs here.  The dismal way they ended the season maybe they should announce Cammalleri or someone else the "C" sure can't hurt at this point.

On another note I'm kinda hoping they slip down to 8th today so they can face the Caps in round one.  That's actually not a bad match-up for them.

The Boston Bruins teams that won the Stanley Cup in 1970 & 1972 had no captain.

Wow that's unbelievable! I'm going to Google and read up on that, was it the organization just trying to get everyone to buy into the TEAM mentality or were they in a chaotic state of flux like the Canadiens?

No, they just despised Harry Sinden. tongue.gif

John Bucyk thought the team should have alternating captains. So, for 4 or 5 years, the Bruins did not appoint an official captain and instead rotated the responsibility. FWIW, Bucyk did get on the carpet to accept Lord Stanley's Cup in 1970 and 1972.

Deal with my picks and make out your own bracket if you really wanna argue with me. tongue.gif

We shall see, anything is possible.

except there is zero chance the Sabres will win the cup.......

They Sabres don't have enough near the offense that Washington and Pittsburgh have. Sure, Miller is awesome.....but they need to put the puck in the net more.....

IMO.

What did Ovie do in the Olympics?

NOTHING!

What's Ovie gonna do in the playoffs?

NOTHING!

Seriously.. for some reason he always chokes when it comes to anything with a lot of pressure like this. They may go to round 2 but that may be as far as they go.

Put that with a MVP performance from Miller they have a real good chance
