Absolutely phenomenal crescendo!

 

RotP does have a great solo, but as Fridge pointed out w/ his Baba O reference, it's a three chord ditty that lacks originality.

funny you mention that..... Dream Theater did a cover of the Necromancer where they transitioned into baba o'riley from rotp

I threw another vote in for Into the Darkness, since it wasn't getting any love. That solo is so wickedly awesome. It perfectly portrays the sinister feel of that section, just like the solos in the other two sections capture the feel of the storyline in those sections. I could just as easily have voted for any of the three sections though as the entire song is a shining example of the sheer brilliance of Alex Lifeson, specifically his unique ability to portray feelings and emotions through his guitar.

Into The Darkness - Love the eerie intro. Geddy's voice is at its emotive best and the soaring solo is lean and gets straight to the point, like many of Alex' classic solos of the future would do...
