What? Now we're telling peeps how to spend their money?? How f*cked up is that? I didn't tell them how to spend their money, I just think it's a waste. I can think of better things to do with 21 million than hang bed sheets from 2x4's. That's real respectful of someone who spent their time and money to do an exhibition for free. If I said I think your post is stupid would you feel the same way? Yeah. Hurts dont it? No it doesn't. I stick to my original thought it's a waste of money. What's free about 21 million worth of orange bed sheets and lumber?

Pags
QUOTE (Moonraker @ Feb 13 2005, 11:25 PM)Huh, is that a permanent thing? I always liked Central Park's feel when you walked through it of being a forest in the middle of a huge city. This is kinda distracting. Then again though I havent been to NY for over a year so my vote may not be as applicable. (NY is my favorite city outside SF btw, I came this close to moving there instead of here) I'm with you Moon. It seems interesting... for a little while. In looking at the pics from Dweezil's link, I couldn't help but notice that my view of the park was almost completely obscured. That would make me crazy after a while. But it's things like this that give the city its character. Stuff like this is not going happen where I live.

I think it's disrespectful for people to insult my intelligence by putting up garbage like this and calling it 'art'. It's almost as if they didn't even try. I mean, couldn't the sheets at least be in different colors? Why are they all in traffic cone orange? It takes an open mind to appreciate art and artists. Must suck to have a closed rigid mind. What's the old saying? "I may not know much about art, but I know what I like."? (Or something like that.) My_Shrimp_Cot
Well, I like it. Nobody is trying to sell me anything. You naysayers are sounding kind of bitter. What better to spend 21 million on? Name 5 things. My imagination is captured and I am going on Friday to see it. (walk 23 miles of it? doubtful). Indica
QUOTE (daveyt @ Feb 13 2005, 10:52 PM) the whole purpose to do this was to say "once upon a time" "once upon a time there were saffron gates in central park" I went to Central park yesterday. I have to say I thought it ruined the view. I'm not sure if it's art or whatever, I guess it could be. Some art sucks. LOL
war2112
This guy has done some interesting things before, like that bridge he wrapped in pink fabric. That was kind of cool. I think this display in Central Park is unharmonious and garish. I can't believe he and his wife spent $31 million on this. IMHO, it's total crap. I didn't stay long, I was wondering what all the bright orange curtains were and I was relieved to know that they are just temporary. I didn't like them but if other people do then that's great, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I'm like, OK, this is art? Then again, maybe some like it. I just don't think it's very creative. I just don't understand what it conveys. Art usually conveys something from the artist's perpective, good or bad, but I just don't get this one at all. What the hell is he trying to project?
