Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince

Every time a new book came out (the last 3 or 4 anyway), I got ridiculously insanely excited and would devour them. The movies, not so much. I enjoy them, but they seriously pale in comparison to the books. Fun, yes, and I'll certainly see it opening week-end, but otherwise I feel kind of meh about it...

That's really annoying. It's not like HP films are going to suffer at the box office if they're put out in the winter. Besides, they always seem like wintery-type films to me. Still, doing 6, 7i and 7ii in consecutive years is cool.

If they do this to Quantum Of Solace I'm going head-hunting laugh.gif

As I understand it, this has to do with the writer's strike, not a desire to make it a summer film instead of winter.

The article says:

"The move was made to take advantage of an open weekend in Hollywood's busy summer season, said Alan Horn, Warner Bros. president and chief operating officer. The film had been on schedule, and the change was not due to any production snags, he said."

Sounds like they want more money, to me.

What you saw about the strike: "The recent Writers Guild of America strike also had affected Hollywood's lineup in next summer, leaving a key date open for Warner to slot in "Half-Blood Prince," Horn said."

Looks like the strike just gave them an opening to move the movie and make more money.

Typical.

I had read a different article on Imdb, which blamed the shift on the writer's strike. I now can't find that article. It was short and lacking in detail, so probably not the best source anyway.

NO WAY! dazed025.gif

Harry Potter movies are about art. Making the most money possible is NOT a consideration. It's all about getting the product to the fans as quickly as possible while maintaining the highest quality possible. Yes, sure they'll make money, but that is at the most a secondary consideration. yes.gif

Aw now that really BITES. angry.gif angry.gif angry.gif

Yeah, It does suck. But MH has a good point as well. This will put the gaps between HBP and DH closer. This way you will have the gaps between

HBP-DHI: 16 Months (vs 2 years if HBP was out this November)

DHI-DHII: Only 7 months!

Deathly Hallows 1&2 are being shot at the same time. (Like The Matrix 2&3, Lord of the Rings, Pirates 2&3) that is why there is such a small gap there.

Having read the books (several times through)

I like the movies for the effects, more than anything.

And I agree, if I hadn't read the series... I'd be lost trying to follow the movies.

So much has been edited out... Some things that I think were essential to explaining the motivations of the characters, esp. Harry...

But I do LOOOOVE the effects!!! biggrin.gif

Cool pics - I can't wait for this movie.

But what's up with the cardigan, Harry? He's dressed like an old man in that first pic. laugh.gif
