No, it wasn't a fusion, thank God! I'm not sure what laminectomy means, the only technical term I heard was 'discectomy'. The doc basically cut out the part of the disc that was bulging into my spine and sutured the membrane back up.

Back surgery sucks! A fellow rider friend of mine had a discectomy done and he can't ride long distances any more. Made his wife happy though.(I think he needs to go back to his doc)

I know anytime you hear 'ectomy' it means they're taking part of something out. Discecomy means they're taking out part of a disc. Laminectomy means they're taking out part of the lamina of the vertebre.

I'm sure you will recover alright. I think there is nothing more painful than back pain. Good luck!

Thank you very much, everyone!

I had a bulging disc in my lower back that had to be corrected surgically. It's no big deal, really. I just can't sit in my desk chair for more than 10-15 minutes at a time, so it's putting a hurting on my post count! laugh.gif

Don't worry, I'll be back soon.

Yes, the pain meds are helping. They make me so drowsy, though! I feel like I'm about to start hibernating.

Jack...Glad you are back! Hope you're improving more each day! trink39.gif

Yeah, don't sit to much it's never the same after a back injury, The more you move the better it seems to be.

Pain sucks.

I don't know what was going on, but good to see you're alive and well.

Well, I was feeling better for a while, but the pain is back now. It's not at all as bad as it was before the surgery, but it sure lets me know it's there. I saw the Doc today and he thinks it's because I started my PT too soon, so I have orders to take it easy for the next two weeks and ease into PT if I feel like it. The good news is that I tolerate walking well, so I'm able to walk a half mile every day and that will help a lot. I'm just impatient to feel better, and I'm getting tired of the pain and pills. The short answer is that back injuries take a long time to heal and I'm just going to have to get used to that.

Ach!

Back injuries......the scourge of man!

Wishing you a speedy recovery from that Jack, I know all to well the suffering a back injury causes.

Goodspeed!
