Most consecutive days sober

When I was younger, I took three years off from drinking. Needed to clear my head and get a sense of direction.

Currently I drink almost every day, but nothing like when I was younger: Two glasses of wine, two beers, maybe three if I'm not too tired. In moderation, it doesn't really cause concern.

Dominican monks (the most austere of the bunch) in ancient Britain used to be rationed two quarts of ale a day. T'was different times though, ale was safer than water.

Sometimes it's years between drinks for me.

+1

Ringo Starr summed it up for me:

And i said,

"no, no, no, no, i don't drink it no more,

I'm tired of waking up on the floor.

No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze,

And then it makes it hard to find the door."

Hey Barney, thanks for posting this thread.

Puts things into perspective, especially for me since I have been getting flak from various sources on this forum lately about my supposedly being an alcoholic.

My personal record of 5 consecutive days drunk takes on a whole new perspective when contrasted with my personal record of 6,734 consecutive days sober (a serious figure to the best of my recollection/calculating, though admittedly it might be off by as much as 60 days. I wasn't exactly keeping precise notes. If anything, the figure I gave was an underestimation)

Didn't drink until you were 18 1/2, eh Robert?

You got it! Not too hard to figure out, eh? wink.gif

Since that time, my personal record for consecutive days sober is about 300 days.

I don't excel at math...but momma din't raise no dummies either. wink.gif

I think I was about 14 when I got drunk the first time. Makes my actual consecutive streak a little shorter than yours.

I don't remember the last time I had a drink. I think it was a few months ago...? I got to a point in my life where getting drunk and having a massive headache/ 062802puke_prv.gif ing the next day just weren't worth it anymore eh.gif

I found out I was pregnant on 7/30 heart.gif

I quit smoking cigarettes on 7/30. THAT was (still is) very tough.

I also quit smoking http://pathwayscourses.samhsa.gov/eval201/images_eval201/icon_pot_small.gif on 7/30 - not as tough as quitting cigarettes, but still kinda hard to not be able to when I want to.

I found out I had miscarried on 8/6 sad.gif and I still haven't had a cigarette or http://pathwayscourses.samhsa.gov/eval201/images_eval201/icon_pot_small.gif

I plan on trying to get pregnant again soon heart.gif

That's over 1,400 days and 21% shorter. wink.gif

You should have been an accountant, not a lawyer.

BTW, the CPA test is conducted at the Shriners Temple here in DC. I think that might be conspiratorial, how about you Rob?

LSM and your DT, I typed out a heartfelt response in another sub-forum, but the server must have been on ludes that day, because it wouldn't let me submit a reply.

My condolences to you and DT, and sincere hopes for a future filled w/ lil' babes. (If you doubt my seriousness, look at my avatar.)

May you both be blessed w/ more healthy children than you can handle! biggrin.gif

I did a lot of drinking from about 16yrs old to 19yrs old.

Pretty much haven't liked to drink since then. I really didn't like being drunk much anyhow.

And since I started taking some meds, I get a banger migraine about 3 drinks later eh.gif

This just started about a month or so ago. Coinciding with me taking up having a couple drinks once a week on pool night ...... hmmm. Somethings telling me not to drink. yes.gif

So I stick to one or two drinks.

this is funny because it sounds a bit like me. I drank nearly constantly from the age of 16 - 22 and drank very little after that. It's a strange phenomenon. As soon as you can legally get it and afford it it loses appeal. For anyone in the above age bracket: I want to go on the record as saying that it was stupid to drink like I did during that time and I'm lucky to be where I am now based on the mistakes I made that can partially be attributed to excessive drinking. It wasn't worth it.
