alphseeker Posted April 22, 2007 Share Posted April 22, 2007 I gave in - I always buy 2 copies - One for the home and one for the car and i have the dvd combo reserved - The only reason i got if off torrent was because i have stupid windows vista which will not allow me to take the music from a PURCHASED cd and put it on my IPOD - Microsoft sucks - In my opinion they encourage piracy with Windows Vista not discourage it - So i figure i'm paying about $40.00 for the dvd and 2 cd's plus 110.00 8th row ticket, i don't feel guilty at all getting it off torrent for my Ipod - Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But after purchasing tix for opening night, pre-ordering the DVD...and counting down the minutes til the album is on sale May 1 (when I will ALSO purchase the standard CD version), I manage to feel no guilt or shame. I have a "preview" copy right now, that's how I look at it. I'm not profiting from it or using it to supplant paying the band for their work. Once it's in my computer, I'll give it to my friend, who already has possession of my entire collection. So it's basically about that release day experience. I don't do nostalgia much, but one thing from the old days that I really liked was going to the record store and finding the FEW other fans in my area and talking about Even that part won't happen anymore, but I still like the release day atmosphere. Ripping it open and smelling the fresh UV coating (though not as strong as it was on album covers). My first listening experience would feel tainted. And I bet the leak is really pissing off the guys in Rush. I don't want to be part of that.
