  1. QUOTE (different strings @ Mar 2 2009, 05:40 AM) QUOTE (OBaterista! @ Mar 2 2009, 03:56 PM) i plan on getting moving pictures and permanent waves signed next tour. Ive only got the cd booklet for fly by night signed, and a cymbal that neil signed. Sweet but how did you manage to get Neil to sign one of your cymbals? IIRC Neil tends to be a bit more sociable when it comes to fellow drummers. Just a guess though.
  2. QUOTE (Prince Sphinc-Tor @ Mar 1 2009, 06:54 AM) I was looking up a ski resort in New Hampshire called Wildcat Mountain....Wildcat Mnt's height......2112 feet. I'm hiking up Wildcat next week! I was driving behind a dump truck, looked up and saw that it was number 2112. I snapped a quick pic, but I can't find it anymore I also configured a Lenovo at one point and by pure happenstance it came to $2112 exactly. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3011/2458189804_b9b81500f5.jpg
  3. Depending on what mood I'm in, either prog metal or psychadelic rock
  4. QUOTE (tangy @ Aug 28 2008, 03:24 PM) I read that. There are some definite lsd themes in TFoL, but I think he went a little too far with the ego death crap. Not too far out though that Neil would write about LSD, considering (IIRC) the name of his first band was "LSD Forever"
  5. QUOTE (-D-RocK- @ Aug 27 2008, 03:08 PM) Maybe you just need to listen to it in a 1975 frame of mind, you know, with some hallucinogens and a groovy lava lamp. I bet your opinion will change. I listened to it one night after an awful lot of I closed my eyes and laid down with my headphones on. My suggestion: Do it. Don't forget to listen to Hemispheres after that. Caress of Steel on 100% on my music list if I ever get around to doing acid.
  6. Fountain of Lamneth is one of my all-time favorites. I actually don't mind the narration in the Necromancer. Gives it a kinna other-wordly feel too it and fits in well with the song and the album. Maybe it could have been sung though
  7. QUOTE (Tarkus406 @ May 25 2008, 01:14 PM) Man I always thought it was 1001001 because thats how it fit best in the song...i mean try singing "0101001 SOS!" sounds weird eh? Naw, it does make sense that 1001001 = I, since it is a song about individuality.
  8. OP, WTF are you smoking? I'd say I want some...but if it makes me want to milk people I dunno...
  9. Ugh. And to think I always thought 2112 was a tribute to 1812 Overture, and the Cask of '43 was LSD. How wrong I was, it was some complex math problem I don't understand.
  10. A Passage to Bangkok is very easy. The main riff goes something like |---------------------------------------------| |------2------0-----2------------------------| |-----------------------2----222--3-2-3----| |-00-----0------0-------------------------3-| The rest isn't all that hard. The Pass isn't hard either as someone mentioned. The first song I ever learned isn't a rush song, but I'll suggest it anyway. It would be Killing in the Name by RATM. It isn't dry and boring,is still kinna fun to play, and is very easy. its got a few basic parts to it that just repeat. Drop D Tuning Into (triplets) |----------------- |----------------- |---------6-6-6- |-0-0-0--------- Main riff |-------------------------------- |---------3h4------------------ |---3h5---------5-------------- |-0------------------2h3p2-0- variation in second verse |-----------------------------------------10- |-----------------------------10-11-12----- |----3h5--8h9-10-11-12------------------ |-0------------------------------------------- "Now you do what the told ya" |------------ |------------ |--5-5-R-5- |------------ The other part goes |---------------------- |----------------------- |-5-5-R-5-R-5-----3- |----------------3-5--- Really easy song to play. Its not Rush, but a fun bass line to learn on none the less. Funny how the Guitar hero version is harder than the real thing...
  11. I could straight up whoop Geddy's ass on bass.
