anagramking
I very much enjoyed Gosford Park. He also directed MASH and (though not one of his best) Popeye. http://today.reuters.com/news/articlenews....&src=rss&rpc=
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
The master of the ensemble cast film. This is a major loss for the film world.

madra sneachta
My favourite Altman film is Short Cuts - I suspect that to say it influenced Crash would be an understatement.
treeduck
He was known to favour and he pioneered overlapping dialogue, he preferred it to the unrealistic (in his view) he said, she said style...
softfilter
Seen his last movie on dvd a week before his demise. Prairie Home Companion based on Garrison Keillor's radio show with the same name, Many stars of course a Altman trademark but just didn't translate well on the big screen. I love the radio show and wished he would of tackled a movie based on Lake Wobegon one of Keillors continuous stories on PHC about this fictional town narrates that he grew up in and the somewhat eccentric chracters who live there. A Minnesota Mayberry.
