Dang - Emma is out.  Not much left to root for on the ladies side.  Perhaps Ostopenko.  On the mens side anybody other than Novak.

So you're one of them, eh? Nice to see Djokovic going after booing fans. What is this, EURO 2024?

Yes - basically a Roger fan.  Never a fan of Novak or Rafa.  Andy was ok though.

Ouch! You must've had some major disappointments watching tennis. I mean, Djokovic and Nadal, that's like 364 grand slams. I know how you feel. I was a Connors guy.

With Roger I got celebrate 20.  That was after a long, long dry  spell.  I too was a Connors supporter.  After him mens tennis went dead for um, decades.  I disliked Sampras.  I actually preferred Novak to Pete.  Agassi I was not crazy about.  No, the 1990's were dead on the mens side.  At least the ladies side had a lot of good tennis.

Speaking of the ladies, dang, Ostepnko is out.  Nothing left on the ladies side for me to even remotely support.

I'll go with Paolini. She has a Polish grandmother.

Djokovic vs Alcaraz. Good thing Novak was able to get the semi done in three sets. It's still going to be a struggle in the final, especially with the condition of his knee.

That didn't work either. It seems whenever Swiatek gets knocked out, Czech women benefit. Same thing today.

Decent match - naturally, of the 2, I was rooting for the Czech.

Plus Carlos beets Novak in straight sets.  Not a big Carlos fan but better him then Novak.  No argument for Carlos to be the GOAT but Novak can make the arguement.  I would not agree - for me Roger is the GOAT.  But every one Novak does not win keeps Roger in consideration with others for the title of GOAT.  For me the GOAT race is:

1.   Roger

2,  Novak

3.   Rafa

Did not like how we got to end of Wimbledon (esp. on the ladies side) but the end of the tournament was ok.

Zielinski wins the mixed doubles title, so I have something to be happy about after all.

U.S. Open, first round. Rough start for Swiatek against a qualifier, 6-4, 7-6. And surprising Hurkacz, with all the injuries lately, winner in straight sets...

US Open, third round: Swiatek - Pawluczenkowa 6-4, 6-2  More of a problem pronouncing opponent's name than winning the match.

End of the road for Swiatek. Very disappointing. Still, losing no.1 status not in danger.

Swiatek's draw for the Australian Open seems favorable. So, she'll probably be out in the second round.

The problem with playing tennis in the real world ie on your local tennis court at the park or whatever, no ball boys! I hate trudging around after a ball that got hit about 60 yards out of the court!

I had the same problem. Mind you, it gave me time to try and figure out how to return a top spin.

Instead of hitting through the ball just flick it upwards with your wrist so you just graze the ball enough to send it forwards, the spin will do the rest.

Where were you thirty years ago? Nowadays, I have to take a taxi from one side of the court to the other.    :old:
