Riot- Thundersteel

Oh...okay so two years before Judas Priest did it, this band invented the Painkiller sound.

Wow...this is f***ing mesmerising!

Paradise Lost-Draconian Times (8/10)

I love this album. But I hear why it changed the game in 1995, I also hear how it's been bettered since, by PL and others.

But the first time I heard it, it was my first goth metal album outside LC. So it impacted MASSIVELY.

I love it, I love it so much...but I feel people miss out thinking its the last word in its style.

I feel that this is where PL peaked:

Gothic

Draconian Times

Faith Divides/Tragic Idol (that one two punch was INCREDIBLE)

Obsidian

I want to add the self titled and/or In Requiem, but this is where I really saw DT flourish

Obsidian suffered for being a goth metal album during a lockdown, and no tour,  bur amongst fans it's incredible

Muse - Black Holes & Revelations

This album always feels like a breath of fresh air to me. A part of me will never fully understand people who don’t get excited over this.

Personally, it's all so shiny sounding but I find d it an empty experience. Muse are extremely talented but kinda soulless.

I get a lot of soul out of it, but it’s a childlike one. A sense of wonder and amazement that really connects with me.
