Dream Theater - Falling into Infinity ‘97

 (8/10)

 although I nearly always skip

You Not Me, Anna Lee & Burning my Soul

( 🤔 IIRC .. the record label put pressure on them to include songs like this )

However …

The top tracks on here rule ! :pirate:
💥 Peruvian Skies 💥

💥 Hell’s Kitchen 💥

💥 Lines in the Sand 💥

💥 Trial of Tears triology 💥

( even to a lesser extent

New Millennium 👍️)

Lastly ..,

Priest - Ram it Down ‘ 88  (8.8/10)

I preferred at the time to Turbo

and still do to this day :pirate:

Tales_from_Topographic_Oceans_(Yes_album

Side 1: Top-shelf Yes!

Side 2: Total snoozefest.

Side 3: It's fine, I guess. But I often find myself thinking, "I could be listening to something better like The Yes Album or 90125 instead."

Side 4: Second-best track on here. To my ears, a few passages are reminiscent of King Crimson and Pink Floyd. Me gusta.

I have to say i have a soft spot for FII.  it wasss my first DT album when it was new.  i found it by chance at my mall (remember malls? lol) at the wee age of 12.  Fan for life.  Not my fav.  but my heart is fond of it.

and Trial of tears my guy.  so albums an automatic win anyway, lol

Gosh I love this album, but I find I appreciate it one song at a time. Not sure I will ever sit through all four sides at once again. If I rank the songs, jt would be the same as you.

Only I never think "I'd rather listen to 90215" coz ick

Just replace 90215 with Drama and we'll be 100% on the same page. :aliendance:

Best Yes album IMO.

it's in my top 5.  I think Yes (on this album at least) did the pop thing better than most dinosaur prog bands in the 80's......barring Genesis.

yet it still maintains a progressiveness to it.

Agreed.   It's more accessible than their earlier albums.  But if you don't like prog at all, you're not going to like it.

I find myself thinking the same way. I think ive only did the full runthrough once. I love The Ancient but my opinion of it would probably be different had I always heard both Science and Remembering before it, halfway through the album.
