I called in to his overnight radio show many a time. Probably the only Chicago media guy, not involved with the Hawks, who cared about the team. :rose:

I'm sorry to hear this. Those type of radio hosts make sports more enjoyable. There was one in Pittsburgh where my girlfriend often called in to talk strategy for the Pirates. Now days all the talk seems to be about the betting lines.

Saw the mention of him on the game, he was 9 years old when he listened to the Hawks win the Cup in 61 and at the winning game in 2010. Got to enjoy a lot of games and sounds like a nice guy. RIP.

I'm sorry, to hear, see, and read this. He should, and will be missed, and remembered. My condolences, and sympathies to his family, and friends. R.I.P., Les.

Wilbon had great things to say about him and that whole era of radio on PTI yesterday. I never knew his work, but I appreciate the effort and his place in the culture. Passing of an age.

RIP

People are saying he would ask somebody's birth date and tell them what the Cubs did on that day. I remember once winning a book on his show. Three contestants had a choice of answering five questions about the Hawks or the Bulls. The two losers picked the Bulls. :P
