Drum Knight Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 I signed. It would be a great and long overdue honour for Neil. 1
Syrinx Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Looks like the petition worked!! https://www.change.org/p/mayor-walter-sendzik-petition-to-have-neil-peart-honored-with-a-plaque-or-statue-at-lakeside-park-st-catharines-ontario/u/25635637?cs_tk=Asb19W8KXjEVLLzgLF4AAXicyyvNyQEABF8BvJWwqMWxpJ541baWKffakQM%3D&utm_campaign=473dd592f62d470eb49a3b8f805bad8f&utm_content=initial_v0_2_0&utm_medium=email&utm_source=petition_update&utm_term=cs 3
blueschica Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Looks like the petition worked!! https://www.change.o...ate&utm_term=cs That sounds awesome! It would be nice for Rush fans to have a place like the Phil Lynott sculpture in Dublin or the Freddie Mercury sculpture in Switzerland so we could visit and pay tribute to Neil and our own memories. I'm not sure Neil would have loved a statue of himself but I'm sure his family and the people of St. Catherine's will be able to figure out something appropriate. 2
fraroc Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 They should just rename the whole park to "Neil Peart Memorial Park" 2
Principled Man Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 I'm not sure Neil would have loved a statue of himself .... I am 100% certain that he would have HATED it.....and maybe even taken a bulldozer to it ..... 3
edie Posted January 26, 2020 Posted January 26, 2020 Ooh spooky. Got my iPod on shuffle. The last song, while I was typing my last post, was The Garden (which brought me here) and now we have Thin Lizzy. It’s a sign, I tell you. 2
RUSHHEAD666 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Maybe a statue of a drum kit, eh? "Hope" Love, Alex Lifeson 1
RUSHHEAD666 Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Ooh spooky. Got my iPod on shuffle. The last song, while I was typing my last post, was The Garden (which brought me here) and now we have Thin Lizzy. It’s a sign, I tell you. Incredible. One of my simple life goals is to go to Ireland and lay a Black Rose by the Phil Statue in Dublin. See the Rory Gallagher bronze guitar in some pub. See the castle where U2 recorded "The Unforgettable Fire." Go to Belfast. See where Gary Moore was born and of course where the TITANIC was built. THIN LIZZY RULES!!! Life is short. Go for your passions!!! 1
edie Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 You must visit Ireland - it is a truly beautiful country. I saw Rush in Dublin in 2011. Such an incredible atmosphere in the city beforehand, with all the fans in Rush T shirts sharing a knowing nod of anticipation. Though it’s just a memory, some memories last forever. 3
