  1. Nice to see the quote from Rush opening the "In Memoriam" segment. I thought that the Juno Awards were going to have a stand alone segment just for Neil Peart but maybe it didn't happen because of a change in the program due to the live streaming.
  2. That's an interesting theory. I'm of two minds: 1) as per your theory, Neil found his way back to drumming and music in some capacity and went all in, i.e., playing every day and maybe even recording the work or 2) he simply let go of that part of his life completely. I tend to subscribe to 2). I recall reading about another drummer (a notable drummer but I can't recall who exactly) who met Neil about two years ago and apparently Neil told him that he wasn't playing at all and didn't even have a drumset in his house (but had a kit to play on at the DW (Drum Workshop) head office, which was a ~30 minute drive from his residence in California). In any event, I'm at peace more so now because the body of work that Neil left behind was massive and truly exceptional. If he had one more studio album or live performance in him, I don't think that would have augmented his legacy because it was already established and as solid as anyone could build.
  3. I've seen this video and YouTube link before and it's a really treasure, especially at a time like this.
  4. It's people like you that gave Neil nightmares. By your reasoning, they were "disrespectful" or "insulting and repulsive" to everyone they mentioned. JFC. Absolutely not. I am not disrespecting anyone who received recognition other than Neil Peart, Hal Blaine, and Ginger Baker. My point is proportionality: for the contribution that those three drummers and, especially, Neil Peart provided they got far too little recognition. And that doesn't betray Neil Peart's humble nature in his case specifically: it acknowledges his true contribution to music and culture at large.
  5. Insulting and repulsive. Neil Peart gets a flash of a photo in a brief "In Memoriam" segment, the same as late drummers Hal Blaine and Ginger Baker. Hal Blaine played drums on hundreds of hit songs that everyone has heard on the radio throughout the past four decades and Ginger Baker is a music and drumming legend. And then, of course, Neil Peart. Nothing but disrespect for three incredible drummers and, in Neil's case, the absolute greatest rock drummer of all time and one of the greatest drummers of all time (period).
  6. The Grammys are a joke and didn't have the time or decency to honour Rush while Neil Peart was alive and I have no confidence that the Grammys will carve out precious air time to honour a true musical and literary genius like Neil now because, in their eyes, they need to preserve that air time for lip-synching clowns who have never held a musical instrument (mic drop).
  7. As a lifelong Rush fan from St. Catharines (yes, the one in Canada where Neil grew up) and drummer since 10 years old whose drum hero was (and remains) Neil Peart, I wanted to make my own tribute so I've posted a video dedicated to Neil on YouTube: .
