rushbass
The biggest fish I ever caught was a 6 foot shark - I live off the Gulf Of Mexico... sorry, no pics. He was delicious too!
liquidcrystalcompass
I've caught some fish in the 20lb range deep sea fishing. The biggest catfish that I've caught was 12 lbs. Not huge by catfish standards. It still scared the shit out of me when I first hooked it. You just don't expect a to bag a catfish that big in a pond. rushbass
^^^ oh yea, catfish... I've pulled out a few from a pond that were 3 - 4 foot in length... those fish can really get big!
ILSnwdog
Anyone ever go noodling for catfish? I've seen that a couple of times on TV. Pretty wild. I don't know if I would have the balls to go and stick my hands into the cracks and crevices on the bottom of a river.

I don't know if I would have the balls to go and stick my hands into the cracks and crevices on the bottom of a river. I'm way too scared to try that...snapping turtles and snakes, not for me. I did see the "Girls Gone Grabbin'" video, which was hilarious albeit emasculating.

troutman
Well, I will try and jump start this thread a bit. After having knee surgery last month I haven't been able to do much of anything fun. But today, I finally was able to go do a little fishing. I am not 100% yet so I went to a place up north that is easy to get around. When I arrived I was glad to see the water was down a little so that crossing the creek was not to difficult for my leg. The down side was the trout are harder to find. Anyway, I caught three trout one getting off. The pic. here doesn't do the fish justice, he was a real fighter. Caught him just below the foam in the water. Hopefully this is a good sign for the summer as my knee gets stronger. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/troutbum/IMGP3163.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/troutbum/IMGP3161.jpg

BL2112
I have a crazy one. it's about 2 fools, 3 long distant phone calls, and 2 huge bass and a call to mom. This was about 5 months ago. My and my brother started to go fishing with out our uncle. Who was our fishing guy, he taught us everything and he took us. So we went, going for little blue gill crapies. Will my brother catches one. And, his pole bent totally super hooked. It all most was jerked from his hands. I grab the pole and pull the fish in. it was a 9-13 lb. bass in a manmade surburban lake. I pulled it to the shore and it fought back out. and went down the shore. And then there where 2 big bass like that. going after the panfish. The panfish was killed and stuck on the sifle. We call our uncle and his cell phone. Hes in NY hoping to have him guide us to what to do. We get his voice mail. tired like 5 more times. Then mom. She comes can't believe how big. Take it out of the water. And put it on the ground. Two kids come running by and go WOW!!! THATS HUGE! and they helped us get it off the hook. My brother has caught bass like that about 20 times. ranging between 7 and 12 pounds. I caught talipa in the lake, 7 pounds.

ReflectedLight
QUOTE (troutman @ Sep 5 2006, 04:58 PM) QUOTE (troutman @ Sep 4 2006, 06:04 AM)Well It's off to try and catch trophy Rainbow trout today. Hope to have some nice pics. Well, fishing turned out to be just as good as the other day. It was a beautiful morning with a little bit of fog that would soon burn off. We went to one of our favorite spots that had recently been flooded due to the rain we received during the past two months. We were told it was in good shape. When we arrived and hiked into the stream we couldn't believe how nice the water looked. My friend's first cast produced a 20" Rainbow. Then another one seconds later, then I hooked up. We were catching fish almost every cast, it was Awesome!! We knew we were in for a good day of fall fishing. There is nothing like it here in Alaska. The river had changed dramatically from all the flooding. Plus personal items everywhere from all of the houses, cabins that surround the river. We fished upstream and caught around thirty fish between us. We saw Eagles, Moose and a flock of Sandhill Cranes migrating overhead that was really cool to witness. Here are a few pictures of a trout, a totaled cabin that was not completely finished"bummer" and the fly that just nailed the trout. It is called an articulated bullethead sculpin http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/troutbum/IMG_0294_1_1-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/troutbum/IMGP1082.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v719/troutbum/IMGP1085.jpg Nice Photos. It's a Rainbow Trout And there are plenty of them if your willing to put in the time and effort. Sorry that you are limited on your fishing there. Don't you have any fresh water fisheries where you are located?
