treeduck
Ever heard of The Beveled Twill Jesus Freaks??? They're so obscure no one knows about them. In fact I'm the first person to ever mention them since 1971. :smoke:

Bigbobby10
I don't know much about progressive metal, so I can't help, but progarchives has a section on them, and they have some albums called "Progressive Metal overlooked and obscure gems albums" if you scroll down a little you will find it, great website for finding new prog bands http://www.progarchives.com/subgenre.asp?style=19
YYZumbi
One band that is kinda unknown is a band called Magenta (they are active now). Great band! Here is my favorite song with them, be sure to listen to that great guitar solo at the end:

PolarizeMe
Recent, how 'bout Jupiter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_QG1BaDzwo IDK, I wouldn't categorize this under prog metal. Personally, I think this sounds closest to symphonic power metal than prog metal. Just my opinion, but I can see how this band can appeal to fans of prog metal.
Segue Myles
Recent, how 'bout Jupiter I liked it til the vocals started. But I don't hear prog this sounds like European power metal. But his voice...too much forced vibrato. Sounds like he is hitting notes whilst sitting on a washing machine. But good music! I found it better than the last track I had tried.

Lucas
Great album, but not sure if it fits the "prog metal" tag Angra "Rebirth" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wht7ZFWPVRM Edited January 28, 2017 by Lucas
djflex
Listening to sieges even right now. It was from the prog archives list. One cool thing about that list is the 4 albums to try that pop up and refresh at the bottom. I dont think ive visited prog archives in a very long time The lethal sounds very promising and very much what i was looking for Unable to find a stream of the madison just yet, you tube it may have to be
Lucas
dj, you got Voivod, right ?? Nothingface definitely ventured into prog
bathory
in addition to voivod, lethal, sieges even, there's watchtower, mekong delta, psychotic waltz... all of these groups are cooler than dream theater, and more innovative
bathory
dj, you got Voivod, right ?? Nothingface definitely ventured into prog voivod are in an odd place. I love them, but I've always kinda felt bad for them - they aren't squeaky clean enough for most people into rush/dream theater/queensryche, and they're often too intricate for your average heavy metal guy. I met away and snake, by the way. they're rush fans

Lucas
Tom Warrior / Fischer has said how much he loves Rush and how he started on bass because of Geddy ... Celtic Frost didn't come as close to prog as Voivod, but Into The Pandemonium sort of hits that same spot
