custom55
Not to sidetrack... but thinking back on the Gilmour show last April. WOW. What a great show. I guess there is a copyright issue when posting on youtube so there is no sound. Check out the light show for Run Like Hell. There is a lot of darkness in the beginning but it gets going, for sure. It starts around 2mins in. http://youtu.be/8E39Flbupk4 Edited January 27, 2017 by custom55
djflex
One thing this thread reminds me is how fun it is to get away from the" home "theater. One of my new favorites is the theater at the casino in new buffalo mi. Great acoustics , small and intimate. We saw Boston and ARW there last year. Its about 2/12 hours or so
PolarizeMe
Madison Square Garden. ICONIC Personally, I think that you can't say you've had the full NYC concert experience unless you've seen a show at the Garden at least once! (And maybe even Radio City Music Hall...)
Lucas
Asbury Park NJ - Convention Hall I saw Black Sabbath here 1972 & 1975. It's still standing. During the early 70's a lot of band played this hall. Across the street is the Stone Pony where... you know who played numerous times. I took this picture last year. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w276/custom55/IMG_8803_zpslrmm1kut.jpg Great post My first real concert - Cheap Trick May 26th 1979

goose
The Gorge Amphitheater in central Washington state. Have been to this been to this incredible venue many times. Have seen, Dylan, Stevie Ray, Petty, Sabbath. Neil Young, Pearl Jam etc. there and was fortunate enough to see Rush twice in this venue, VT tour and last date of the TM tour. http://www.georgeamphitheatre.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/the-gorge.jpg http://youredm.youredm1.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Paradiso.jpg?x97231The Gorge is a beautiful venue, but when the wind is up, it's nasty. RUSH's VT concert was one of those nasty nights. T4E was epic, on the other hand.
Wil1972
The Alabama Theatre in Birmingham AL. Built in the 1920s as a movie house, they still show classic films there and host various events, including concerts. Saw Robert Plant there a few years back ... Another view of the interior... and that is a giant Wurlitzer on the left side of the stage there. It rises out of the floor. http://d1ya1fm0bicxg1.cloudfront.net/2015/07/alabama-theatre_birmingham_07-13-15_14_55a432c22e6f1.jpg Edited January 27, 2017 by Wil1972

I was like row 30 dead center for the VT show and don't recall much if any wind. In fact, I've been fortunate in that to my recollection I've never attended a heavily windy show there though I have heard stories.

I haven't been there since it has changed to The Starland Ballroom Birch Hill: I remember they had the bouncers with headsets standing on raised platforms in the crowd. As soon as someone misbehaved, they'd jumped into the crowd to address the issue. I haven't been to the Starland Ballroom. I'm too old to deal with the nonsense the comes with a large crowd in a small space. Edited January 30, 2017 by custom55
geezer
I have a very little experience of venues around Europe and one of favourite is the Forum in Kentish Town (former Town & Country Club) and I also love the magic of Royal Albert Hall.I went to Glasgow Barrowlands once (1991) and loved the 'other kind of magic' around! goose
Portland's Crystal Ballroom is a cool smaller venue. Just saw As The Crowe Flies there. They have a cool lounge for pre-concert gathering, and the performance space is all hardwood flooring, which is easy n the feet and legs. http://d1marr3m5x4iac.cloudfront.net/images/edpborder500/I0-001/004/401/727-0.jpeg_/crystal-ballroom-27.jpeg Old school waiting on line streetside sets a good mood... http://trulyhandpicked.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/mg-crystal-ballroom-portland-14573356144n8gk.jpg
