  1. I've been using "We are only immortal....for a limited time" for a while.... ironically, I'm not a big fan of Roll the Bones as an album, but Dreamline is one of my favorite songs!
  2. I've done most of the good wreck dives in the Keys, Duane, Benwood, Speigel Grove, Vandenburg, Busch, Thunderbolt, Eagle. Lots of great stuff down there. Pretty good reefs as well...most of those are in the Big Pine area, but there are a few up in Key Largo. (need to get there again soon!) hahaha! Do you do any of the kelp diving out there? Heard some cool stuff about that. Have a cousin with in-laws out there who goes out occasionally, and did a few kelp dives...said it was a neat thing to experience.
  3. Excellent! I'm glad to hear you enjoy diving. Too many people try it, but they don't keep up with it. The closest area to me to dive is Monterey, which is fantastic cold water diving, but just far enough away to be inconvenient. Most of my diving is tropical, and I've been all around the world; it's the main reason I travel. I'm not on Scubaboard, but I was on Wetpixel for a couple years (but not the past few years). I was...but there are too many know it all's over there... (kind of like on here occasionally!) I've been doing a lot of cold water diving, they just closed a great quarry, so we have to do a little traveling to go diving at the moment. We were out on New Years Eve day, were talking about going this weekend, but with this snow storm...JUST not possible! hahahaha! I have a few cool shops I use in the Florida Keys, love some of the wrecks down there.
  4. Cool! I've only been diving since 2004 (decided to try it on my 40th birthday) And have been a crazy fan of a few local quarries, and the Florida Keys! Never tried an aquarium, but a friend that has a local shop has been trying to get me to try Baltimore. I guess the other question is ...where else do you dive? Do you do Scubaboard?
  5. Have a Chicago/Earth Wind & Fire concert coming up in April...that's about it so far...
  6. Just read an article where he said he was "cleaning out the closet" of stuff he had sitting around, because he's planning a new album in 2017 (and it's supposed to be going into a different direction?!?) Wait...I just remembered where the snippet was: 4 ½ is released today on CD, vinyl and Blu-Ray. As the title implies, this is an interim release between my 4th album Hand. Cannot. Erase. from last year, and my 5th album to come (planned for late 2017). The album includes 37 minutes of music; 4 previously unused songs written or recorded during the Hand. Cannot. Erase. sessions, one written during sessions for The Raven That Refused to Sing, and a recent (mostly) live recording of an older song Don't Hate Me. While there is an element of "clearing the decks" before I commence work on the next album, which is likely to move in quite a different direction again, I'm nevertheless proud of how 4 ½ has turned out, and consider it to be the closing of one chapter before the next begins. I hope you enjoy it! - SW
  7. Nice! Where were you? Do you dive dry very often? That was Dutch Springs, in Bethlehem, PA a few years ago... I dive dry all the time unless I'm in Florida. Been dry for about six years. Do you dive?
  8. That's the thing...as far as the first album, I'd be willing to bet that everything had been played live at one time or another, just no record of it...and as far as Caress of Steel...there's only one known recording that's surfaced, so who knows that's been played.... (still hoping that something surfaces....not holding my breath!) Thanks for the list!
  9. I hear you. Used to be every four albums and then a live release. Now it's a live release CD/DVD/Bluray with all the bells and whistles every tour and since their live sound hasn't really changed much since the mid '90s (and Geddy's voice getting weaker every tour), they all sound mostly the same to me. I didn't get R40 for that reason, I can just punch up the songs I want to hear on Youtube, why pay for yet another version of Spirit/YYZ/TS/Working Man/2112, etc etc. It's too much, you're right. The thing is, though...I'm sure the band knows that people are out there trading live bootlegged recordings (well and some morons are still trying to sell them) They may as well make some money on it... If they jumped on the bandwagon (so to speak) of groups that recorded each show, and sold copies (i.e. Gov't Mule, Allman Bro's etc) I don't think I'd get EACH AND EVERY ONE...but if something was different (i.e. Losing It) or the fact that they had like 3 or 4 different (legitimate) set list changes throughout the tour, I'd probably get at least one from each one along with whatever show I attended. Now if they'd go back and release at least ONE GOOD VERSION from each tour, I'd jump all over that..
  10. All the World's a Stage (About a month after release) Caress of Steel (on the same Columbia House order) 2112 Archives (I know, but it was the same price as buying Rush and Fly by Night at the time) After those, it was as they were released in order of release.
  11. Can you imagine the serious Grateful Dead or King Crimson crowd! THOSE bands are releasing stuff at a KILLER rate! Granted...those bands change up their set lists throughout the course of a tour (GD especially) Rush at LEAST keeps it minimal! There's a LOT of GD stuff coming out at an alarming rate...the KC stuff has some cool live boxes from specific tours, but according to an online friend, the THRAK box that just came out wasn't worth it's salt except for maybe the video stuff. The audio was just a slight upgrade from the originals. I'm not a big fan of the re-release of the old albums that are purported to be sound upgrades... I borrowed some of those "Sectors" boxes from a friend, and they weren't THAT different to my ears! Maybe if you have an over the top stereo system, and paid more than my last two cars for your speakers it makes a difference, but not on my trusty dusty old speakers! I'm glad they released the videos on DVD, and I picked up the R40 Blu-Ray box because it had a lot of oddities in it, but I won't be upgrading each time new technology comes out.
  12. I just remember several years back when everyone and their mother were releasing box sets, someone in an interview was asked when Rush was releasing one...and the response was pretty much box sets are like a retrospective, why would we release something now? That said.. I DO know from different articles over the years that they have recorded a lot of live stuff..in fact the Permanent Waves tour was recorded for a live album, but they felt that had more to do before releasing that and decided to write and record MP...THEN they released ESL..but had some stuff from the prior tour...so as long as they've kept their recordings in a vault, I'd be willing to bet that live stuff will come out eventually...Maybe like Zappa's "You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore" set where there were odds and ends from different tours sitting around... As far as unreleased music... They have famously said that there is nothing unreleased in the vault like that...they use parts and snippets of things in other music and nothing is unreleased....but that doesn't mean that there aren't alternate takes or mixes of stuff that they attempted, and decided to make into something different (i.e. Sir Gawain, there MAY be a version of that taped somewhere) Or rough mixes to take home at night, etc. The other oddity is when most bands are recording, the engineer has a 1/4" or 1/2" tape running the whole time (DAT once those came int play) to capture stuff that is accidentally played and whomever is playing it doesn't remember...so they can go back and go "THAT!" There's always that possibility for odd things to surface. It may take a little time, but there may be some things that eventually make it out. I'm leaning more towards live stuff, though..
  13. I have friends that are against anything Adele related, but you can't deny she has a great voice..she a friggin' nut case, and I really haven't heard anything from her that I don't like. It's all MOOD music, people... Sunday morning when I'm having coffee it's stuff like James Taylor, Carole King, Adele, Carly Simon, Acoustic Dave Matthews, or stuff in that genre... 2112 just doesn't make that morning coffee mood work! (after probably a bottle of wine or more the night before) At the gym, I'm all over Rush, Dream Theater, ELP, Spock's Beard, Transatlantic...etc... stuff that's got a little substance! If i tried listening to something mellow at the gym, I'd last 5 minutes on the treadmill!

I think that's true too- and it seems like it's treated with more of the ethos that jazz musicians have- so-and-so from this band comes onstage to play a few songs with that band, et cetera...a real cross-pollination of sound, and a collective pool of ideas. I love that kind of thing. Yeah....Dave Matthews is known for pulling guys from the opening band on stage with him.... I saw Bob Weir come on stage with the Allman Brothers a few years back, too...All good stuff!!!
  15. AC/DC. I know lot's of people on here probably hate them because they aren't prog, but I love me AC/DC. Music is personal. It's what moves your foot and your spirit, man. As long as it's not mass produced shit Like Bieber and Beyonce, as hot as she may be. Even then, if that tripe moves someone, by all means, play it loudly, just not around me.And I love AC/DC. Sometimes the simplest stuff is also the best. I have everything in my collection.. a LOT of it depends upon my mood... I have jazz, easy listening, classical, big band, even some country (Zac Brown, more of a jam band then anything else) It's all about what makes you happy at any given time...

Foghat and Montrose. Can you imagine? Wow. Foghat was my first concert (saw 'em in '78...Judas Priest opened)...and saw Rush early the next year. I would loved to have seen them on the same bill. I got to see Foghat in 1978 with Sweet opening (Love is Like Oxygen was the "hit" of the day hahaha!) And I saw Montrose open for Foreigner...these three bands would have been a pretty wild show! They DID do some crazy pairings way back then... I was Motorhead open for Ozzy in 81, Saw Scorpions and Riot open for Rainbow, Maiden and Priest, Gary Moore (with Ian Paice on drums) and Krokus open for Def Leppard in 1983. It seems like the jam bands are the only ones REALLY sharing the stage anymore...
  17. What was interesting was that the only shipping choice I had was express: Shipping (Express — 7 business days): $ 19.99 USD: So that tossed a few bucks back on... I can only imagine what shipping to Milan would be!
  18. Thanks for the heads up...got the "Art of Rush" book cheaper!! (had a VISA gift card to "waste!")
  19. Newer band wise...besides Porcupine Tree-Spock's Beard and related bands to each... I've been listening to Umphrey's McGee which is the best of both world's of Jam Bands and Prog...Caught them opening for Dave Matthews a few years back and thoroughly enjoyed their set, so I started looking for their live recordings (they allow taping) and found some great stuff. But there's not a whole lot of newer stuff coming out that really gets me excited. Thankfully there are ways to at least listen to a few things of someone's before actually purchasing it...I have a lot of stuff I bought over the years "word of mouth" unheard before I listened, that I wouldn't have bought if I heard more than maybe a clip or single tune. (and when I'm at a loss, I pull out the Yes,Genesis, Tull, Kansas, etc.)
  20. I'd say overall, probably...A lot of stuff over the years, including bootlegs. Not to mention my at least once per year run of all the albums on my iPod. (start with Rush, and let it go until the end of CA...then another time, start with ABC 74 and let it go until the last live disc...well now R40 Live!) If I had the time and patience, I'd PROBABLY add at least one boot per tour from beginning to end to fill in the blanks. But that said.. I also seem to listen to a lot of Zappa, Pink Floyd, Spocks Beard and related (Transatlantic/Neal Morse), Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson, and Yes-related....
  21. Well that really added to the conversation..thanks for your input!
  22. This would be at odds at what other 'insiders' are posting that Neil wouldn`t tour unless it was only xx amount of US dates and no EU tour. That's my understanding. Neil didn't want to do the tour at all. He wanted to be done after CA. His compromise was to do some NA dates. Yep. I feel grateful seeing R40 two times. I knew it was over with how they had that send off video. It say's it all IMO. I gotta believe Geddy and Alex were hoping this would give Neil the juice again. Get a taste and want more. It apparently had the reverse effect and solidified his decision to call it a career with touring. We can hope for a new album. So there is that. The only sad thing here is that they already had an awesome stage show put together, had finally worked a lot of the kinks out. At least they could have given the people elsewhere in the world a show. That much is unfortunate. I really thought that with what they put into the show that they'd have a second leg announcement a month or two after the end of that tour...not a European tour, but a second US/Canadian leg....
