  1. Pretty sure you have the right song. Wish Them Well should actually fade out much much earlier than it does
  2. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jun 8 2012, 07:31 AM) I doubt it's a death metal influene since Rush usually takes influence from good genres of music. You might want to give their new album, Heritage, a shot. It's a straight-up '70s style prog album with clean vocals through the whole thing.
  3. "that thing you ordered just showed up"
  4. I never ever ever ever listen to the radio, and the past 3 or 4 times I have happened to turn it on in the car, Headlong Flight was playing. So it's getting pretty decent airplay around Philly at least.
  5. The Wreckers: I heard "'Til their backs weren't there anymore" ????????????? (it's actually "'Til their backs couldn't bare anymore")

    The Voice

I don't know about the deep voice in HF, but I think the "telephone voice" (as one reviewer called it) might be an effect that's being used when the song switches the point of view away from the main character. i.e. the bluesy part in Clockwork Angels might be either the Watchmaker... or the angels? And in the Anarchist the "I lack their smiles and their diamonds" part is obviously the point of view of the Anarchist. I could be totally off about that! I just think the plotline jumps around so much that it can't all be representing one person.
  7. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 7 2012, 12:03 PM) Who here Really thinks the band reads this or cares if they do read it ? Fans were barking since 1982 for the Camera Eye and the Only reason we got it was because they did the whole album and Had to play it . The band has said they read the petition and "take it into account" when they're working on the setlist, whatever that means.
  8. Ok, I'll bite. I love the album, but it's not perfect. If these were fixed, it'd be a top 5 album for me: 1. There are notes that Geddy is just not hitting on the album. Not a lot, but they are there and they are noticeable (Seven Cities of Gold???). I wish he had come up with melodies that were more in his range. If he can't hit a note with multiple studio takes he's not going to hit it live. Also, how did the high pitched backing vocals in Wish Them Well make it past Neil, Alex, Nick and Rich and not get cut out? 2. A few awkward transitions in songs (coming out of the "blues" part in the title track, the weird 4 bar "honky tonk" part right before the last chorus in Carnies, coming out of the intro to Seven Cities.) There are a couple others but those are the ones that come immediately to mind. 3. Replace Wish Them Well with an instrumental!
  9. Yeah it's a double LP. I'd guess 3 songs per side?
  10. My guess all along is that this is why they moved all the shows to indoor venues. They've said before they like to save their "big" songs for the 2nd set when it's darker and you can see the visuals behind them. That won't be an issue indoors. I would bet the new songs will have lots of visuals to go with them. If we DO get the whole album I actually think it will be the first set, and the 2nd will be more of a "greatest hits" type set (hopefully with a few songs they haven't played in a while thrown in)
  11. I agree the vocals are too low in the mix, but I think it's for a reason. I hate to say it but the main thing I dislike about the album is how much he is obviously straining at points. If he can't hit notes in the studio it's not gonna happen live.

  13. QUOTE Big Al needs the Gibson double neck back for summer rehearsals and the upcoming Rush tour in September, anyone else want to give me one, maybe Gibson? ... kicker is he's using it for a new Rush song, not Xanadu! Wonder if it got used? And on what song?

Anybody else get a Mars Volta vibe on Seven Cities of Gold? (that's a good thing!)

    Leaks?

QUOTE (trenken @ May 31 2012, 02:24 PM) QUOTE (Jomboni @ May 31 2012, 01:21 PM) If I remember correctly Vapor Trails leaked realllly early, like before the finalized tracklisting was decided (my early leaked copy had Secret Touch & Out of the Cradle switched) I had that album like 3 weeks before it came out, although it definitely was not CD quality. Listenable though for sure. Sounds like what they tried to do for reviewers for this album is pull them all into a room, let them hear it once (lol), and then they write reviews based on that, rather than sending out review copies. It may actually not leak until just days before release, 2 or 3 maybe. Well a lot of people don't think the CD is CD quality either

  18. Hey, my mom went to a Rolling Stones concert when I was still in her uterus and I turned out alright. No problem bringing a baby to a Rush concert(as long as you remember to share your beer with it!)
  19. Headlong Flight: "We did shrink the middle section quite a bit. Originally, it had more of a jam thing going on, but we thought it was a little over the top, so we pulled it back." Was anyone else happy to read this? I like the song but I'd probably like it more if they had cut out a verse and made the mid-section longer!

    Album leak??

Why would you pay for both the CD and the itunes download? YOu know you can (100% legally) import cds you buy into itunes right?
  22. I think Pearl Jam did this too (maybe they still do? I've never seen them) - they had stands where you could buy a burned CD of the show on your way out.
  23. "Finding My Way, Working Man, Anthem, Beneath, Behind and Between, Cygnus X-1, Hemisphere's Prelude, By-Tor & the Snow Dog and The Necromancer thrown in for good measure" Alex: "Hey Geddy, I had an idea for the next tour - why don't we COMPLETELY DESTROY your vocal chords! Sounds fun, eh?"
