  1. Compromise: BruceyIsAwesome :D I think they're both good usernames (the ones you listed in your poll). Keep the one you feel is best.
  2. Double down geek bonus info, Robert Duncan McNeill was actually cast to reprise the role of Nick Locarno (from The First Duty) in Star Trek: Voyager. Unfortunately, the producers felt that Locarno was too unforgivable, so the character's name was changed to Tom Paris, and his backstory was altered to reflect some other sordid past. But the pieces are all still there: he's a top-notch pilot, he's got a shady history, he's not trusted by other Starfleet officers in the beginning, and his early story arc is one of absolution in the face of negative perceptions. They are essentially the same character, with minor details changed because of meddling producers. Too bad, really... he would've been a much more powerful character with the established history from TNG. We, the viewer- especially the knowledgeable Trekkies among us- would start with the same biases against him that the rest of the crew did. And we would have to judge his absolution for ourselves. The way they did it, with his past crimes being faceless and meaningless to us, he seems like a good guy who's been railroaded for no reason. It's a really weak way of presenting a potentially interesting character's development. Agreed. The unspecified crimes and writing for the character really felt like he was just a frat boy who pissed off the authorities as opposed to some hardened criminal. That would have been WAY better. Now if they only did that and give Chakotay some balls (and get rid of Torres) Voyager would have been a much better show. The premise of Voyager was good, but none of the characters reflected what they were supposed to be. The Macquis didn't act like terrorists. With one or two exceptions acted like your average person with opposing political viewpoints. As a result there was little to no conflict between the two sides. Like you mentioned, Chakotay had no balls. Torres...oh god... Janeway didn't help by being a massive hypocrite. The prime directive must never be violated...unless it suits me. There is a fan theory that says Janeway is a power hungry lunatic who intentionally strands the crew in the delta quadrant in the first episode simply for the chance at undisputed power over the crew. Also...how the f**k did Harry Kim become a bridge officer? He's not only an ensign, but a complete dolt. So what they're saying is that every other officer died that they had to resort to that fool becoming the tactical officer. I'm sure he was at the very bottom of the chain of command (right below the ship computer) when Voyager left DS9.

  5. Seriously though, I hope there aren't too many of you who think I'm a jerk
  6. Why can't I pick both "yes" answers?! :fuckinputer:
  7. My dad found a copy of Rush's moving pictures while clearing out the basement. The sleeves are in good condition and the record itself looks like it has only been played a few times.
  8. This is the first forum I've joined where the members actually read your post because they're interested and not because they want to tear you a new one. Unlike other forums I've been on the regulars are actually really nice as opposed to high strung and power tripping from their post count. What made me feel at home and stay? All of you guys. The community is good for a joke, a debate or a game. I recall Rushgoobers radio show made for some amazing conversations in chat. I would have TRF chat and the radio show going on in one screen while trying to get work done in the other. I didn't want to miss a thing. Also GeddysMullet helped me through a particularly tough time...I miss her.
  9. Real Star Trek at least... http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140404020923/walkingdead/images/c/c1/JrMRG9T.gif All Trek is real Trek...... except Into Darkness and maybe Voyager. I suppose so. I have only watched the original series a million times over and some of the movies..... Picard is an awesome captain. You should try watching Next Generation. It's all on Netflix if you're ever curious. TNG seasons 3-6 are the pinnacle of the series. There are some great episodes in other seasons but if you want to get a good idea of what it's all about I'd start there first. The Wesley factor alone torpedoes TNG. Wesley wasn't that bad. People like to rag on him but he didn't save the ship THAT many times. No, but nearly every time he appears in an episode he makes the crew of the Enterprise (the flagship of the Federation, so presumably these are Starfleets finest) look like complete idiots without breaking a sweat. How does a child outsmart Starfleets best on a regular basis? I was glad when they wrote him off the show in season 2 or 3 for a few years.

  13. I tried my hand at making jam because we had a ton of fruit we weren't going to eat. It's AWESOME :D
  14. Bojack Horseman -- another one of Netflix's original series. It's pretty funny.
  15. Ow! f***ing fascist! You're right. That was rude of me. My face while watching this movie: http://mrwgifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/The-Big-Lebowski-Happy-Reaction-Gif.gif
  16. I've found the forum to be a generally nice place outside of SOCN. The users are for the most part quite agreeable. I'd say that the amount of jerks is closer to 10% than to 90%. While I can't speak with how you've been interacting with people on the forum, while on chat you always call people wrong or insinuate that they're idiots for having an opinion that doesn't line up with your own no matter how justified it may be. Perhaps you're confusing being a jerk with reactions to your own remarks. People tend to want to have discussions on forums. Shooting them down like you do does not create an environment for interesting or friendly discussions. I've noticed that when people do this, not just on the forum it comes off as rude and arrogant and tends to attract similar responses. While you don't do it all the time, I think you'll notice a drop in hostility on the forum if you simply refrain from telling people that their opinions about Rush are outright wrong.
  17. "Why are you guys getting so mad? Relax, it was just a joke" No. It's only a joke now because you pissed people off.
  18. 10K posts in just under a year?! Where are all of these posts I never see? Anyway, congrats!
  19. Yeah. The first two acts felt like a Star Wars movie we never got. EDIT: better phrasing.
  20. I haven't seen a thread about this movie. If you don't want the movie to be spoiled (I highly recommend going to watch this movie without any knowledge of what it is), you should probably look elsewhere. Potential spoiler warnings from here on out. I love this movie. Marvel has really outdone themselves. I thought it would be made simply to introduce Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet but it ended up being something really special. The way they almost made the soundtrack into a character in itself was particularly impressive. What did you guys think of the movie? oh and if you were confused about the post credits sequence (I was), here's a short video explaining it. The short version is that the sequence isn't important at all. The character is Howard the Duck, who is a character that made a remarkably horrible appearance on the big screen some time ago. http://youtu.be/vbDk1rVwPo4
  21. I've never tried waking up to Hemispheres. Perhaps I should add the first few minutes to my alarm clock mix. I find Bastille Day and Spirit of Radio work great.
