  1. This number would have absolutely no meaning to anyone who has a sizeable chunk of their posts from before the board update that introduced likes was brought in. So there was a time when "likes" were not counted? For example many folks like Babycat with well over 40,000 posts and not near the amount of likes you would think she would have?.There are many others of course.... About a year ago the forum underwent a software upgrade to a newer board system. Here's what it used to look like: http://web.archive.o...erushforum.com/
  2. I would imagine that's not feasible with the board system or would require tons of work.

  4. If they're smart, they'll delay announcing a tour until after the box set comes out. That sounds mercenary to me. Whose idea is it for these money-making box sets anyway? I remember in an interview Geddy mentioned that they divided up band decision making between the 3 of them. Neil is in charge of merchandise.
  5. How about songs made on Mario Paint (a super Nintendo game)? So while it wasn't made on an NES, it's made on the console that came right after. Here are some of my favourites: 2112 (Overture/Temples): Afterimage: YYZ: Dreamline:
  6. All of the songs the opening band is playing. ...oh wait.
  7. Here's a picture of Alex Lifeson's huge rack. http://www.thecanadianmusicscene.com/rushcrew/scott/alex_guitarsinrack2.jpg
  8. Farscape. Two of the lead actors also played some of the least interesting characters in Stargate SG-1 (Vala and that guy who replaced o'Neil in the last two seasons). Aside from those two being incredibly bland, the rest of the cast more than makes up for it and the writing is surprisingly solid.
  9. My guess is that since it's pretty apparent that the tour is a decision on the label from that interview, the band was on vacation during the summer and started planning it when they got back. So figure they need a few months to actually plan out the show and rehearse before actually touring... I'd venture a guess that they've either finished planning the tour or are in the final stages. It's possible they haven't said anything because the first concert is too far off. It doesn't make sense to rush anything, so better start a bit late then too soon. If the suits are the ones that planned it, they might figure to push the start date to late spring/early summer when people are more likely to attend concerts rather than start in January or February. This is just a hunch. Rush have always given ample time to buy tickets, so I wouldn't worry. News of the tour will come when it comes.
  10. Here's my setlist. It looks to be about the right length -- maybe the first half is a song or two short. The only part I'm not happy with is the transition from Tom Sawyer to Cut to the Chase. It doesn't flow nicely but I'm not sure how else to put Cut to the Chase in there. Everything else I find flows really nicely (I've gone over the set during my daily commute and tweaked it a few times). Tom Sawyer Cut to the Chase Kid gloves The Analog Kid Digital Man The Enemy Within (part I of fear) Lock and Key Roll the Bones Jacob's Ladder Vapor Trail Spirit of Radio --- INTERMISSION --- Dreamline (with lasers) Middletown Dreams Limelight Ghost of a Chance Headlong Flight (drum solo) Resist (acoustic) Closer to the heart Available Light Nocturne 2112 (overture/temples/finale) --- ENCORE --- La Villa Strangiato (original opening + rant) The Garden
  11. I don't blame you for not owning the videos. I only have Rio because it was a gift and TM because that tour is special to me. Otherwise I want the audio a lot more than I want the videos, which I will likely only watch once or twice.
  12. Bah...Blu-Ray. As I recall, Rio and R30 weren't recorded with good enough cameras for an HD release. To top it off it becomes a pain to rip the audio because so few people have access to a blu ray player on PC. I already have Rio and Time Machine so I'm going to pass...but I would love to get my hands on that bonus disc for Lock and Key and the video of 2112.
  13. Tackled some tough logic problems with a friend today during a huge break we had. It was so satisfying when we solved them.
  14. Apple's cloud service. You can link any of your apple devices to iCloud by signing into your iTunes account. From there you can set what information is constantly synchronized between all devices connected by the same account. Think of it this way: you have iCloud enabled on all of your devices. You open the notes app in your phone and write down the name of a band you want to look up. Then later you try to remember the name of that band. You're at home so you open up your macbook and open the notes app and BAM you see the note you wrote on your phone with the band name because after you wrote the note, it was uploaded to the cloud servers and when you turned on your macbook it saw that it's information was out of date compared to that on the cloud server so it got the updated info (ie the note). This is also very useful if let's say your device breaks or you need to reset it. You log into iCloud and it downloads all of the latest information that was on the cloud. When you buy songs on iTunes, Apple automatically adds those songs to your iCloud account, regardless of your settings. In this case, they forced the U2 album into everyone's accounts without permission. By default, more or less everything is synchronized by iCloud automatically so when people logged in they were forced to download the album without their knowledge or consent.
  15. Seriously? You have to download a piece of software to remove it?!
  16. I can't speak for others, but I put a lot of time and effort into making sure my music library is carefully organized and curated. I do not like U2, nor do I want iTunes formatted crappy MP4s on my computer. Lucky for me I don't let iCloud touch my library. The problem isn't that Apple gave away something for free, it's that they forced it upon everyone. If they had ASKED or simply made it free and told people it's free on the iTunes store nobody would complain.
  17. It doesn't matter if they forced the cure for cancer into everyone's phone. The moment you force people to do something they didn't approve of onto a device that was bought and paid for people are going to get pissed. You just don't do that.
  18. ...how...how is this not an article from The Onion?
  19. Just finished watching Firefly for the nth time.... so that means: http://www.serenityverse.com/images/albums/userpics/10001/DVD_Poster_250_8~0.jpg Yep. This is still a great movie.
  20. To hell with this thread. You're all awesome.
  21. You can disable the auto download/sync. I have it specified that in settings that my music is unaffected by iCloud. I have notes and contacts backed up on iCloud but nothing else. Joke's on you Apple. There wasn't any U2 in my library before, and there still won't be.
  22. Available Light Cut To The Chase Vapor Trail Nocturne These four songs right here have been on my ideal setlist for a long time. Vapor Trail and Nocturne are my favourite songs from VT and I'd love to hear them live. Cut to the Chase has a lot of energy to it, which would work in a concert setting. Now that we have The Garden I can't really say that Available Light should be played because it's a nice song to whip out lighters to... I still want to hear it live.
  23. I love this time of year. It's warm enough to wear a t-shirt, but cool enough to open windows rather than use air conditioning.
  24. This ikea catalogue commercial that makes fun of pretty much every Apple commercial. Gotta love bookbooks.
