Your most fave DLR-era Van Halen album?
chemistry1973 replied to Texas King's topic in Music Of The Spheres
"Fair Warning" is right under "Hemispheres" for me. So yep, I get it. I heard a rumor that Michael Anthony was going to tour with Van Halen again. Along with Sammy and David. Shoot me now. I think that's going to happen. -
Dave Grohl, an overrated drummer?

http://youtu.be/MZqFT4sH8ac So, no, not overrated. -
I don't give a fudge what two Canadians and a rich prick in Los Angels thinks. An Obama third term is underserved. It's time for real economic growth not more butt hurt Identity Politics. Also time for a horribly insecure little man to demand the National Park Service recount how many people purportedly attended his inauguration and also to claim voter fraud to try to explain away the fact that he actually received fewer votes than the Snakewoman. (note that I do NOT like her either thus my name for her, his is Bozo The Clown..........absolutely without a doubt THE worst choice for Prez in my years of voting which dates back to 1972) I voted for Gary Johnson, unfortunately after his Aleppo moment he was TOST. Of the two remaining choices give anything other than a third Obama term but now Im repeating my self. CEO and union types are signaling approval thus far. "Tost" aside indeed. I was fired up on GJ initially, but he turned out to be QUITE the disappointment. I voted for him anyway. Ugh.

Fair Warning is perfect. -
Wow. Way to go! CP hasn't been this awkward and creepy in YEARS.
-
Her voice though. Yikes. I feel like she's yelling at me whenever a song of hers is on the radio. She is terrible.

Out of the Cradle first. How It Is last.

It's actually Obama/Boehner but please keep arguing.

In the sense that so many people are convinced Trevor Rabin is a better guitar player.

Solaris Blueraven, Neil Peart, Michael Mosbach And Mind Control ( WTF ? )

Some more detail in regards to Peart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4NU0PrYA6U "There was a Fly By tagging at Night…" :laughing guy: -
Joshua Tree is a fantastic work. It's the best sounding record of the 80s. The production is perfect - credit Daniel Lanois, and to an extent, Brian Eno. This will be the most enjoyable U2 concert in 25 years. Here's hoping they play nothing they recorded after 1995.

That whole "What a show, What a show…" part was not on the tape! I was blown away when I heard it one drunken evening on the vinyl release, at a band friend's party.

Is Alex Lifeson in your top 3 personal fave rock guitarists?

Absolutely. -
Geddy: 'I Think I've Accepted That' RUSH Has Done Its Last Tour"
chemistry1973 replied to zappafrank's topic in Rush
The release of this documentary certainly raises the possibility of a Geddy/Alex collaboration. In fact, I believe that's what it's all about. Out with the old, in with the new. There is no other reason for this doc to exist - they are setting the stage for a different act. -

Well said. -
Sarcasm. I don't think anyone's really wrong.

Your least favorite song lyrics Neil have ever written?
chemistry1973 replied to YYZumbi's topic in Rush
Faithless -
You're all wrong. Best live cut is: Natural Science, Different Stages. Thank you.

It's grown on me. The instrumentals are fun, and well arranged. There are a couple solos on the record that are absolutely epic - some of his best. Great drumming and bass playing too. The weaknesses? They lyrics. And the singing. Lots of hamfisted, contrived singing. It's mostly terrible.

Rush: Time Stand Still Coming to Theaters November 3rd
chemistry1973 replied to EagleMoon's topic in Rush
There doesn't have to be anything. You just hope there will be interesting new content. Rush fans will see this no matter what at some point. It's a documentary on Rush. How bad could it possibly be? Yes of course I'll check it out but I'm cynical at this point. How emphatic does NP have to be that he his done? If there is no indication of further music making, what would the point of this endeavor be? We've already had the love letter to fans- that's BTS. We have R40. We have a NP penned book describing why he split. It's feeling contrived if anything. -

If anyone can sense a cash grab it's a Rush fan. There has to be interesting content or the bad word of mouth from the movie will hurt their sales. -

I look at it this way. Regardless whether you like the song or not, it's a good choice. Why? Because it's a song the general public will recognize. It's perfect for the title to cover their career. It's not called The Spirit of Radio. ;) I can imagine somewhere toward the end of that doc Peart coming out with the ((obvious)) revelation of "time doesn't actually stand still and life pushes us forward whether we want it to or not". I can imagine his voice saying those words. I can imagine him all but admitting that he's 100% done with Rush...though not ACTUALLY saying it. You know, typically ambiguous Peart ^^Ok, so this is the last 3 minutes...what about the other 99.5% ?? What are they going to show for 2 hours that was not in BTLS or on the R40 concert DVD? Am I the only 1 thinking about what will be in the film. I feel the same way. I feels like a waste of time since the band is done. Unless this is to set up a transition of some kind - Neil out, new guy in... Rush has never put their future out on the table so cut and dried. They're not going to start now with THAT kind of transition of Peart out, new guy in. No way. Then what's the point of all this. We just saw the release of an R40 video. It'll be good if there is some substantial content. It can't just be a maudlin sendoff. -
