  1. QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Aug 18 2011, 08:31 AM)A lot of real New Jerseyans are embarrassed by Jersey Shore, too! Not only am I from New Jersey and embarrassed of Jersey Shore, I actually don't really like the state that much either! I consider myself a part of the angular mass of New Yorkers chasing through the streets of Manhattan than I am a Jerseyan.

    Wal Bass

QUOTE (Oracle @ Aug 10 2011, 09:47 PM) Now THAT is a bass with some balls. I concur, plus it's got the same finish as Geddy's Wal.
  3. QUOTE (P-Tor @ Aug 10 2011, 08:42 PM) Could it have been "My Favorite Headache" possibly? Hmmm, My Favorite Headache did sound too Rush like.....after all, it was Geddy's solo effort. And the title track WAS bass dominant, so was Home On The Strange to a lesser extent....if it isn't even that then we may never know for sure.... The only other non-Rush artist I can think of that's kinda close in terms of bass....probably...Primus. Les Claypool's heavily influenced by Rush, so.....
  4. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Aug 10 2011, 01:46 PM) http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/blog/2011...lsons-track-one Video for "Track One". Amazing! Woah, that song and the video especially was incredible!
  5. http://starsdie.com/wp/?p=2165 Here's an interview from PT fan site StarsDie.com where Steven answers some fan questions....I sent a question, but it wasn't chosen, but these questions answered were really good ones though.

Same with bowling. Golf the best sport ever! http://www.cristoferdelatorre.com/emoticonosgratis/emoticonos/golf.gif Its fun to play, but boring to watch imo. This is really getting off topic cause most of this chat isn't even about Rush, but I like most of the stuff being said about golf and bowling so I'll jump into this golf/bowling discussion anyway. I was forced to play golf a long time ago once, let's just say that I've never stepped near a golf course unless it's Mini-Golf. As someone from a somewhat bowling family, and former bowler, IMO it's a sport that never ceases to piss you off, but discussing why that's the case might be boring to talk about so I won't say it. There's also this episode of Modern Marvels on the history and evolution of bowing balls, which discusses things that make bowling sound boring, so yeah, I'd vouch for anyone who thinks bowling is boring cause I've experienced it, and it ain't fun. Back to the topic about the Rush thing, even if that 10 second snippet in that commercial was Rush, and if it WAS from Clockwork Angels, if anything it might be Caravan if it IS new Rush, cause that was used in a Hockey commercial once. But with that aside, I highly doubt is Rush, but as always I might be wrong
  7. QUOTE (Dylan2712 @ Aug 4 2011, 11:34 PM)QUOTE (PolarizeMe @ Aug 4 2011, 09:23 PM) There's also a Vault Edition of The Trees which was featured on Rock Band 2 It wasn't released on iTunes, but I remembered that I couldn't recall any difference with that and the original...I think it may be an ambient live version like the Hemispheres music videos.... i think all that is different in the rock band "vault edition" is that the outro is a bit longer with more nature sounds and a guitar line playing for a bit longer. also, Geddys vocal is slightly different. Yeah, I figured that out as soon as I listened to it again. That's the first time I heard a clean audio rip of it, so thanks! I think I couldn't hear a difference at first because of those in game crowd noises and other sound effects that Rock Band has...which kinda distracted me in pin-pointing any difference. Listening to both the original and this version, I can also hear that the tempo's also a bit faster, the original sounds slower in the beginning of the song.... And I guess the instruments sound more refine, I could hear reverb on the classical guitar and Geddy sounds a bit deeper in the intro; it almost sounds like it's live. Which makes me believe that this is the version on the Chronicles DVD; it sounds almost similar to the one found on Chronicles.
  8. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Aug 4 2011, 11:04 PM) I've seen it on itunes. Is there a noticeable difference between the Vault Edition and the original? From my understanding, there's a different solo in the Vault Edition that was shelved for the version that was used on the first album. There was an interview somewhere (I can't remember where it was...) where Geddy and Alex talked to the guys from Rock Band about the origins of the Vault Edition....I think they said it was an outtake or something.... Other than that, the mix sounds slightly different than all of the self-titled album...I think it has to do with the fact that Richard Chycki mixed the song. I'm not really a guitar expert, but I think the Vault Edition's guitars sound very warm and heavier sounding, and maybe more forward in the mix, but you'd have to listen to both to compare, I guess. There's also a Vault Edition of The Trees which was featured on Rock Band 2 It wasn't released on iTunes, but I remembered that I couldn't recall any difference with that and the original...I think it may be an ambient live version like the Hemispheres music videos....
  9. QUOTE (rtrushfan @ Aug 4 2011, 07:53 PM) Bonus Features Alternative ending for The Real History Of Rush: Episode 2 Outtakes from History Of Rush: Episodes 2 & 17 Outtakes from I Still Love You Man Live from Laura Secord Secondary School (full clip from BLTS) Live from Passaic, NJ (full clip from BLTS) This is from amazon.co.uk's Time Machine Blu-Ray page. Looks pretty good. Is the NJ footage the "2112" B&W footage? Yep, the NJ footage is the one from BTLS....I actually live a few minutes away from Passaic where the footage was shot...the venue got torn down a few years ago if I remember correctly. This looks to be promising bonus features...especially the full Laura Secord Secondary School show....although I wish they included more footage from other tours from the late 70s, 80s and 90s....
  10. Here's an update from Steven Wilson's Facebook regarding pre-ordering the Deluxe Edition... "You can now pre-order Grace For Drowning from www.gracefordrowning.com. Please note that this time we are making the special edition available locally in several countries to try to keep shipping costs down. US residents especially should order from Newbury Comics and save a small fortune! A stand alone blu-ray edition will also be available." Well this makes it much easier for me to pre-order the Deluxe Edition now that I could buy it from a US store....it's going to be $118.98 if anyone's gonna order it from Newbury Comics. It's $106.15 on Burning Shed, but that's excluding VAT. I'd take the advantage of pre-ordering this from the US.
  11. Obviously none of the songs from Moving Pictures because that's the mainly the reason why they toured for the past 2 years in the first place.... Since this was the first tour I've attended, I left the show very happy with the setlist. I didn't really have a problem with any of the songs whatsoever. However, I will have to say in terms of song strength, I think Faithless was probably the weakest song of the show despite the fact I knew it was going to be played live WAY before the tour was announced (the guys said it ALMOST made the setlist on the previous tour cycle). Don't get me wrong, I like the song but the first show I saw on the TM tour, I though it kinda dragged on a little bit. When I saw the guys again at MSG in April, I grew to like the song live better.. In that case, I took Faithless out, and I would've replaced it with another song from S&A that was never played live (and a better song IMO), Bravest Face.
  12. Yeah, I'm facing a dilemma over whether or not I want to pre-order the deluxe edition or play it safe and get the regular edition.... On one hand, I already bought tickets to see Steven's solo tour in NYC, and that's good enough for me...and as long as I have a copy of the thing, I'm alright. On the other hand, the bonus CD and the BluRay edition looks like it's exclusive to the Deluxe Edition cause I don't see a pre-order for a BluRay only edition...and as an owner of the Anesthetize Deluxe Edition CD/DVD/BluRay, it's definitely a work of art....not to mention that there's an accompanying video for every song on the BluRay, and being a film guy/fan of Lasse Hoile, it's a must have. I'm probably gonna have to make a decision on whether or not to pre-order the Deluxe Edition cause there's other priorities I have in terms of other albums, live DVDs, shows, etc coming within the next few months. I'm gonna really be in debt by the end of it all regardless.
  13. http://www.burningshed.com/store/kscope/pr...15/remove/3215/ The album is up for pre-order now. It's available in a standard digibook edition, a vinyl edition, and the eagerly anticipated deluxe edition with the 2 CDs, a BluRay, and a bonus CD of outtakes covered in a hardback book with 120 pages of artwork and notes.
  14. It seems like network executives are bringing back 90s shows in some shape or form....just look at Nickelodeon, they just brought back their shows from the era in a new late night timeslot on TeenNick or something.... I'm glad Beavis and Butthead is coming back, it beats the crap outta most shows today....although I wonder how the kids of today will react to show, I think the newer generation of kids at least from where I live, are stupider than Beavis and Butthead themselves in my opinion...it'd be interesting to see how they'll react to the show. Hell, I'm more interested if the dumbf**ks at Jersey Shore will talk sh*t back at Mike Judge for riffing on them...cause I think the new revival might have a chance at nailing the coffin on Jersey Shore, but what are the odds of that happening?

    Time Machine DVD

A reason for the delay might be because the guys who filmed the show are also working on a live Iron Maiden DVD simultaneously which was filmed the same week as the Rush DVD shoot, and both are due to be released around the same time... On another note, I really hope the guys release a CD version of this...cause I want an audio recording of this tour more than anything really...even if it's a download only thing, I'll take it.
  16. Just listened to the free mp3 track, and I'm extremely amazed by what I've heard...that was probably the quickest 9 minutes of my life, but man, I'm really impressed with the samples so far... Looking at how incredibly cheap the tickets for Steven's show at the Best Buy Theater in NYC are on Ticketmaster (tickets go on sale Saturday), I have enough money to pre-order the special edition for Grace For Drowing, and go see Steven live. This makes me incredibly happy!
  17. Just as I was beginning to forget all about the Friday phenomenon.... It only took me a second into the video before I went
  18. I'd say Finland or Norway....but in reality, it's NYC...plus I live right near it so I could just go there anytime if I wanted to. I always felt I was fit for the city and I always find something new to discover there. I'd live in East Village near St. Mark's Place or Greenwich Village. Another benefit I have for living in NYC is that I can attend lots of concerts. If I'm really lucky and things go my way, I should be be going to college there next year.
  19. QUOTE (Kenneth @ Jul 4 2011, 11:16 PM)4th of July fireworks at my street. You read my mind! Just add my annoying neighbors who hold parties every other day for no reason whatsoever and blast their radio (usually rap or Beiber), get wasted, and especially hoop and holler constantly....from like Noon to 4 AM
  20. QUOTE (GUP1771 @ Jul 10 2011, 10:12 PM) I don't understand the hate for the album. Yeah, so what if it has some pop leanings. It's tight music that has some beautiful lyrics, and songwriting. Bravado, The Big Wheel, Roll the Bones, and most of all, Ghost Of A Chance are absolute standouts. Ghost of a Chance probably has some of the most beautiful lyrics and music from Rush, which touches you, even though I personally don't favor the context of the lyrics, especially the chorus (although that is my favorite section of the song.) Alex's solo really grabs you, and definitely fits with the song, as most of his solos do. Geddy sings differently on this song than most of Rush's other songs, and I like it. It also fits with the song. Oddly, I love the way Neil writes the lyrics, however, it don't agree with the context. It's one of those weird moments. Excellent writing all around, whether it may be musically or lyrically. Roll the Bones probably isn't top 5, but the standouts I listed above triumph over many bands, particularly those of modern music today. I'm also not ashamed of this album. Keep rollin' those bones! It's definitely an album that holds a special place for me, cause it was the first album I listened to, and it was my introduction to Rush. Not a top 5, but I still have high regards for the album in retrospective. For a long time I thought I was the only who loved The Big Wheel but I guess that's not the case anymore!
  21. Different Stages was definitely more rawer than Snakes for sure...I remember Geddy said that the sound they were trying to get was something similar along the lines of All The World's A Stage. I think this is why most of us love the sound production of DS. IDK if any of you will agree with me on this, but I think Geddy's bass had a LOT of crunch compared to R30 and Snakes and as a bass lover and (a pretty mediocre noob) bassist, me like the tone of the bass on DS. I thought that 2112 on DS was an awesome recording of the song, and as USB Connector said, this recording is in some ways better than the original...I like the fact that the detuning of the song gives it a heavier sound, and it's the only truly, fully complete live version of 2112, so I give props for the DS version for that too.
  22. For all of you wishing for another Porcupine Tree album, Steven Wilson said in a Guitar World interview recently that he will indeed get back with PT next year and make another record. http://www.guitarworld.com/interview-guita...-porcupine-tree And the full tour dates are on the Grace for Drowning website. Looks like I was right, Steven Wilson will be at the Best Buy Theater on November 11th.
  23. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Jul 7 2011, 04:27 PM)QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jul 7 2011, 05:20 PM) QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Jul 7 2011, 12:44 PM) Some more info on Grace For Drowning: http://starsdie.com/wp/?p=1480 Apparently, it will be released on September 27th, and will include a 23 minute jazz inspired epic Is the deluxe version limited? Burning Shed perhaps? My guess would be that it is but I'm not sure. I'm planning on just getting the regular edition. At this rate, I'm gonna have to get the regular edition over the special deluxe edition now that he announced that he's going to tour Grace for Drowning. I'm guessing the deluxe edition will end up costing around $70-$110 including VAT and shipping. That's enough money to buy 2 tickets to any Steven Wilson related show. Apparently Steven's gonna play at the Best Buy Theater in Times Square on November 11th which is a Friday, so that means he's gonna definitely play a New York show. Here's the apparent leaked tour dates for the US shows http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/music/1804/
