Another reason Rolling Stone is useless
Spindrift82 replied to Amy Farrah Fowler's topic in Random Samples
It's really sad and pathetic. I thought RS was supposed to be for music? This is as bad as MTV and VH1 becoming reality tv stations, and having music never being played. -
Sorry, I'll post a link to the Wikipedia article. Joyland - Wikipedia I've heard that it is very good, but it's only been out for a month. Just curious if anybody had read it, and could offer a review?

His voice isn't as terrible as I would have thought. If you want to hear a terrible voice by a kickass guitar player, try Mike Rutherford. I love his solo album, but can't get past the voice.

^ I hope you share the album when you're done. :) -
I've always wondered about this cover, and it's interesting to hear the analysis behind it. I've never noticed how many things are "waves" in that cover.

Anybody read the new book that's out?

I use: Amazon Cloud Player for MP3s Dropbox for everything else I find those two very, very reliable. I've had things deleted from Dropbox before, and I log onto the website and click a few buttons, and presto...they're back! Amazon Cloud Player is really for playing my music on my tablet and Android phone and iPhone. It has taken the place of an mp3 player for me. I still use iTunes to organize everything.

That's so sick. I can't believe someone would name their band that. Joke or not.

It also increases intelligence. This is a very good article, and not surprising at all.

I read this on Facebook...I think it's so awesome. What an experience! -
Another example of the negative aspects of being online...

I'm still not convinced it's not a satire piece. -
What's the oldest "wearable Rush T-shirt you own?
Spindrift82 replied to theanalogmiddleagedman's topic in Rush
I'm young. The oldest one is from the Vapor Trails tour. -
A movie called Missing on Netflix. Terrible, scripted acting, over gory effects, and not scary at all. It was actually surprising that I got all the way through it.

I've only heard the 97 remaster, and it is very, very clear.

All of these songs rule.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the end. They will probably at least do two more albums.

I was a bit older, but I remember discovering Rush at the age of 16, and being blown away. I just remember thinking they were so cool, and I couldn't understand why everyone in my high school was listening to N'Stink and Britney Spears. I tried my best to convert all of my friends, but a lot of them thought Rush was weird and couldn't understand them. It's good to see a new generation having Rush tunes passed down. I became a fan in between Test For Echo and Vapor Trails, so hopefully there will be another story in ten years, along the same lines. ;)

No, I don't think they had many demos out there. At least, leaked.
-
I think the main reason I liked it, and the reason I like Vapor Trails as well, is because it's a guitar led album, as opposed to a keyboard led album. I love 80's Rush, but they were heavy on the keyboards. Counterparts was a return to the early heavy stuff, and I enjoy that.

Calgary show still going to happen???
Spindrift82 replied to bootlegguy's topic in On The Lighted Stage
That's really sad that that happened. I hope they manage to work it out. -
They had even more special effects in 2002, when I saw them.

I have an HTC One. Switched from an iPhone 4, and the HTC is so much better! I also have a Samsung Galaxy tablet, which I love to death.

http://joshuashrive.bandcamp.com http://www.joshuashrive.com It's all up on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify as well. -
The current tour is heavy on the 80's, and there is very little material, other than the new album, that was recorded after 1989. So I wouldn't say you would be disappointed. They're playing a lot of classic 80's material this time around.

Counterparts, a relationship based album? I wouldn't say so, unless you're talking about Nobody's Hero. Rush has always been about interpreting human relationships. This goes back to 2112, when they were debating the possibility of humanity ending music, which ended humanity. The only difference between Counterparts, and Test For Echo, is that Counterparts was rougher around the edges. Test For Echo also suffered lyrically.
