Hell, Ten Bears was pretty cool too! That whole dialog between the two of them is incredible. My favorite part of the movie. "It will be life!" "I reckon so" Josey Wales = coolness. anything with Clint = coolness. well except maybe Paint Your Wagon. Clint singing = the opposite of cool. Don't forget the crying Clint of Bridges of Madison County which = douchebaggery Only 2 missteps in an otherwise career full of cool badassery, that's not too shabby. Well Madison County wasn't THAT bad. Clint crying = suckassery. Clint crying = teabaggery. Clint crying = jackassery. Clint crying = flat our wrong. Clint crying = the opposite of cool. He cried in Gran Torino a bit.... Clint is an actor, and a great one at that. His roles are all good and he doesn't always need to play the same type of character. We're talking COOLNESS here not handing out awards for the most acclaimed thespian. Clint crying does not = cool. What about 'Pink Cadillac'? He kicked ass and the movie was fuc*ing hilarious.

It's the type of movie that SCREAMS long documentaries and "makings-of," so I'm afraid I'm going to skip this release until the MACK DADDY comes out this November. And that is the schedule for an expanded release. Bonus material? Really? People watch that stuff? Do you really want to watch the making of Avatar so bad you will wait months to buy the disc? I don't get that, but to each his own. Sure..! Why not? I really enjoy the techie and nerdy film side of the creative process. I'm not big on deleted scenes, but I really enjoy the FX side of things, early concept meetings, etc. If it's a matter of waiting til fall, no biggie. If it was going to be a year or two down the pike, I'd cave. But I'd rather have the larger package than just the film if I have my druthers. (I can always rent it for a whole entire dollar at Red Box if I just have to see it betwixt now and then as well). It's bit like asking why you'd want to see a documentary on the making of Moving Pictures when you simply have the album to listen to. If you really dig it you can check out CGtalk.com where a lot of the artists hang out and discuss the VFX side of things. Maybe a little too involved but occasionally some very interesting threads. Oh and I don't remember if this was posted here. What up tick? I have to agree with Presto-dig on this one. Some of us movie freaks do watch that shit. Certain movies anyway. Ex. Blade Runner, Alien, Iron Man, etc.. Shit like that. Movies like 'Matchstick Men', I could care less about special features. What up Jack Aubrey?! I was heading to Best Buy after work the day AVATAR was released. I heard that morning on the radio there were no extras. Abort mission. I just rented it and will continue to do so whenever I want to watch it until the new edition comes out. I must say though. After seeing it in 3-D three times, I was a little skeptical. The transfer to 2-D in Blu-Ray is well worth it. To each his own. I don't care about extras. Knock yourself out Andrew! I'm sure the 6 hours of showing how the Navi was constructed in computer imagery will be quite interesting. Sometimes that is. To some folks the art of making film is a pretty interesting process, much like the art of making an album or some other such thing. To others, they just want to watch shit mindlessly blow up for 2 hours or get lost in a Jackass marathon. To each his own for sure. For sure. Thanks for the backup Presto-dig. Some people just don't care for that shit. I guess we're just strange. My wife, on the other hand, would give tick a high-five right now. She doesn't get it either. I'm not knocking you Andrew. It you like them great. I'm not saying I have never watched extras but generally the extras I would watch would be on a music dvd. It's cool tick. I knew you weren't knocking me. What I was getting at was that I see it from both perspectives. My wife totally agrees with you. My wife's favorite movie is Fight Club. She loves it. If a 5 disc special edition boxed set of Fight Club was released with all the special features and extras you could imagine, she would look at it the same way she would a tarantula. Then she would ask why I wasted $80.

  7. Time Machine.....First stop, 1974. Working Man.
  8. Time Machine Tour so I'm thinking something off the wall. Working Man?
  9. Was counting on an Indy stop but no dice. First time in Rush history they've ever passed us up, so I'm told. Kind of a blindside. Totally unexpected. Got the email today about the "Premium" packages available. Hit the website immediately to find out all presales were CLOSED. Damn it man! It was either Chicago, IL or Columbus, OH. I wanted Chicago. (More convenient.) In a way, I'm kind of relieved I missed it. Mainly because I'm not comfortable spending that kind of money on a show so far out of my comfort zone. That said, I can't help but wonder what I missed out on. Anyone get in on this? I'm looking at around $1000+ for good seats and expenses, not to mention a couple of days lost wages. I'm asking because I want to know if this "premium" package will be worth it for the Columbus show? I was thinking about getting a couple of mediocre seats at MGM in Vegas instead. So the wife will have a good time too. What to do? Should I just hang back and not go all out for this first leg or save the big money for when they come back around to Indy? I know what I want to do but I need a voice of reason and not my wife's. She's just gonna tell me what I don't want to hear. That's fine because she knows I'm beyond help when it comes to my Rush addiction. Bless her. Some outside advice please.

Lol yeah Well since they aren't coming to indy, looks like i'm going to Chicago this year! Same here. Maybe even Ohio too. I'm not used to planning out a Rush show. All the driving and hotel reservations. Cities you're not familiar with. We've been spoiled fellow Hoosiers. This is bullshit. Chicago better be one of the best shows ever if I'm going to do this twice in one summer. We need to all meet at Verizon in Noblesville and protest. Get the news involved. Arson. Riots. Mass hysteria. Hire some midget strippers and have them shave people's cats. Whatever it takes to get their attention. Let me know if you want in.
  11. QUOTE (ghostworks @ Apr 10 2010, 03:41 PM) QUOTE (Andrew1 @ Apr 10 2010, 12:50 AM) ...how did you even know where to start looking? How did you know it was alchemy? I thought that science was long dead. I'm guessing that you probably have your own time machine that you invented. I'm a graphic designer, so I have a huge reference library of text styles, fonts, images and symbols (online and in print) - I recognized some of them just from familiarity. And yes, I do own a time machine, too, although I didn't use it for this project. (ps - your grandfather's name was Robert) Close. It was George, but I believe you. Can you tell me the next ten Kentucky Derby winners and some PowerBall numbers for next month? Thank you.
  12. QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 11 2010, 05:12 PM) There's no Indy date being added in 2010 - sorry. There are only 2 US shows left to be added as of now and they're both additional nights in a city they're already playing. While they definitely do draw well in Indy (~9.5K the last 2 years), it's actually one of the lower grossing shows of the tour from a revenue perspective. They made in the 400k range for the 2007 and 2008 shows there which is typical for a smaller market show. The biggest shows will gross around 1M and the bigger cities will generally gross upwards of 500K. So with a smaller # of dates to book this time (only 35 US shows total), Indy really wasn't a "must-play." So can we expect to see them back on the next one? It does suck. We've been spoiled. The next two closest venues are three and three 1/2 hours away. I've done it before, but not because I had too.

I doubt they will do more then one, seeing as the tour has a time machine theme. I think this tour will be a journey through Rush's history using lots of visuals and making a stop on every album. I think you are right on the money See my post above. There's no relationship between the "Time Machine" concept and the construction of the setlist at all - either in the age of the material being played or the order of the songs or the representation from each album. Given that Moving Pictures is 7 songs and you know there's a drum solo and a few snakes songs and a couple new songs and that certain albums always have more than a single song, that possibility is pretty much eliminated right off the bat anyway. Well, I'm not going to question you. I learned my lesson on doing that so I'll just say, I wish I was right with my guess and I'm sorry I'm not. Believe me - me too! And me too. I feel the same way tick does. I wanted to set you on fire at first, but you're all right in my book Score Out.
  14. QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 11 2010, 01:52 AM) QUOTE (Andrew1 @ Apr 11 2010, 12:34 AM) QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 10 2010, 10:00 PM) Sorry folks but there will be a few snakes songs played again. People thinking that "Time Machine" means all old material and/or all b-sides are in for disappointment. There are some gems on the setlist for sure, but it's a pretty standard mix of songs (hits & rare songs, old and new songs). How do you know this for sure? Odds are you're 100% correct. The poll clearly shows the majority thinking the tour will be "pretty standard" and it probably will be. But something about your post seems eerily familiar. I'm pretty sure you're the same person that told me Rush would not be stopping in Indy hours before the set list was even revealed. That shit bummed me out because you sounded like you knew for a fact and you ended up being right. If you are, can you at least try and sound like you're just assuming and not be so matter-of-fact? Seriously dude, you even started off in this thread by saying "Sorry folks". Sorry for what? Are you that sure of yourself or are you banging Geddy's cousin and getting inside information? Either way, you could cause someone to have a stroke someday coming off like that. I'm not assuming...I do know what I posted for a fact. I'm not quite sure what you're asking me to do - you want me to pretend I'm assuming when I'm not assuming? Sounds a little over my head! The "sorry" was because 99% of Rush fans would be thrilled if the setlist was comprised of primarily older material - and I'm sure most of this board would love a setlist heavy in b-sides - however that's not the case. Seems the tour name was causing people to jump to an incorrect conclusion. Again though, with that said there are definitely some gems on the setlist and it's pretty strong overall if you're realistic. Pretending to assume was just a suggestion. I meant it as a joke. Especially in my case when I was told there would be no stops in Indy. I wasn't sure if they were full of shit or not. When it was said as fact, it kind of took the fun and anticipation out of it. Mainly because it wasn't what I wanted to hear but I got over it. It was kind of like a spoiler. Like in this thread tonight. You just show up and tell us how it's going to be. It was aggravating because I didn't know if you knew what you were talking about or just some asshole. I'm glad you told me because I was sticking with that theory all the way. Other people could get bent out of shape over it. That's all I was saying. So was I close? Is it Ged's cousin or something else entirely? Can you send me a set-list?

I think they skip S&A altogether on this tour and really dig deep into some old songs in the vault I totally agree. Rush is up to something and I have a feeling that it's not going to be what people think. Their first stop in the time machine will be 1974. They're going to open with Working Man. I don't see a band like Rush who's been around 36 years to play songs off their most recent album on a tour with a Time Machine theme. No way. They played 9 songs from S&A on that tour. If you had a time machine, would you go back 3 years? Their new material will be from the future from an album that hasn't been released yet. That's the closest they'll come to S&A. It's really a great concept and the band is going to have some fun with it. I'm right on this. You'll see. The ones who voted no S&A are right. They played the shit out of S&A on the last tour. We've got the S&A DVD if we didn't get enough the first or second time around. I know they're probably burnt out on it too. I like S&A, but if they play anything from it on this tour I'll be very surprised and disappointed. They're never going to do a tour like this again. This will be the last time we have a chance to see some of these songs live. Ever. It's going to be historic. I'm sure they'll go back to normal set lists on the second leg after the new album. They'll go back to some S&A then. I think any S&A on a tour like this would be a mistake. Did I really see some people predicting 3 songs from S&A? Seriously!? Are you 15? I would almost bet my house that they're even going to cut some songs we've been hearing every tour for years just to make more room for the songs from the vault. Time Machine. Vault. Rush. It's just a no-brainer for me. I could be wrong, but this isn't the Rolling Stones, The Who, or other older bands that leave fans yearning for what once was. I'm sorry guys. It just aggravates me that people could think that this is anything other than ordinary. Great thread metaldad. It's got me to the point where I'm about to go outside and kick the neighbor's cat. I'm going to start my own thread on this. Please don't kick your neighbor's cat. I'm not. Just an expression. I was getting a little frustrated. Doing better now. Screw it. I hope they play the whole friggin S&A album. Then maybe next tour they'll only play 5 or 6. You people are crazy.

  20. I've been working on this too but I was way off. In my research, all I found out was that the band hated cat-scratching posts and Sham-Wows. Alchemical symbols. I should have known. I thought it was ancient Hebrew sanscript. How did you even know where to start looking? How did you know it was alchemy? I thought that science was long dead. I'm guessing that you probably have your own time machine that you invented. Good work though. I wonder if Rush had a bet going on how long it would take before someone deciphered it all?
  21. Both. MP for the first part of the tour and Hemispheres when they tour again after the new album. It's a Time Machine tour so be ready for anything. The change from their usual routine of album then tour to this new format is an odd one to me. After so many years, why change it up now unless you were planning big on the horizon? Hemispheres is a definite possibility. Ged can change up his vocals to adjust to a 2010-11 version. He doesn't have to scream it. He's a brilliant musician and he could make it work. One example is 'Marathon'. On PW and ASOH he was a banshee at the end. In the Presto version he lowered his voice and changed the melody up a bit so he didn't have to scream it. I actually liked that better than the original.
  22. They could try something like playing one song off each album leading up to Moving Pictures. It is The Time Machine tour after all. They could open the show with Working Man. I wouldn't put it past them. Dude, that would be awesome. Whatever they open with, it will be something no one expects. The last time they did something like this was before Power Windows. When they played live new material that would be released on the upcoming album. Since then, it's been album, then tour. Everything about this is so unexpected. The pre-tour. The new songs. The Time Machine theme. Then a new album and tour again! I'm used to them being so systematic. It's strange. Somethings got them pretty fired up to stray from their formula so late in the game. I pretty much know what to expect when I see Rush. I could be wrong, but this time I'm not so sure. The red tamas? Neil might have replicas of sets from every tour that rotate between shows. They might bust out the kimonos. The Necromancer? I wouldn't count it out. Ged might pick up the doubleneck again just for nostalgia. You called TCE didn't you? Many thought that would never happen. If they have been listening to the fans then they're going to know right where to hit us. Remember the theme. 'Time Machine'. They're up to something. Working Man would be a killer opener for this tour. Can't wait.
  23. Because Moving Pictures will be played in it's entirety, you can count on it being one of their most anticipated tours. Of course they're going to film it. By the time it hits the shelves, there will probably be 3D versions available. I'd bet my Rush bobbleheads on that.
