  1. That totally sucks and I can relate. It seems security keeps getting worse year after year. You give these pricks a little authority and they abuse it. It never used to be like that. I would love to see that bastard fry for what he did to you but I wouldn't get my hopes up. I hate to say that but chances are you'll be wasting your time. Definitely report it though. It couldn't hurt and you might come out on top. I was in fifth row and had an aisle seat with two of my friends. I even paid for over half of one's ticket because he was broke at the time. He'd never seen Rush and I wasn't going to let him miss out on fifth row. I was in college at the time and that was a lot of money to me then. Anyway, it was getting crowded up there and I kept getting pushed into the aisle. Not much, but enough to get this one asshole to start riding me. He was just being a dick. Plain and simple. After the third time, he grabs me by the arm and takes me to a holding cell at the back of the venue. I was furious and believe it or not, totally sober. I missed almost all of 2112 in it's entirety. During the Grand Finale, another security guy opens the door. He listened to my story and let me go back to my seat. He told me this wasn't the first time they'd had problems with that guy. They even moved him to another section of the pavillion. I got lucky even though he was totally in the wrong. If that guy in charge would have been one of that dick's friends, I would have been screwed and not been able to do anything about it. Sad. I didn't get treated like you did by any means but I feel for you. That's sickening. It's not Slayer, it's Rush for God's sake. Unbelievable. I wish you the best of luck. That guy needs to do a little time if you ask me. Let us know how it turns out.

    HELLCATS

The show is ridiculous. At least I'm pretty sure it is. I can't keep my mind on the plot or anything else for that matter. But who cares!? Alyson Michalka. That blonde is smoking hot and my god...what a killer body. Just gorgeous. I hyperventilate whenever I see her. I'll fast forward through all the schlock just to watch her do flips and shit.
  3. Dear Lindsay, I would love nothing more than to watch you burst into flames and die a horrible death. But only after you do a crab-walk naked across my living room floor. Love always, Andrew

QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 25 2010, 06:44 AM) QUOTE (Andrew1 @ Aug 25 2010, 05:42 AM) I just heard a few days ago that the Avatar Special Edition is coming back to theaters, August 27. I predicted this awhile back. It's giving everyone a chance to see it in 3D if they missed it the first time around. I've talked to several people who, after seeing it for the first time at home, were kicking themselves for not checking it out at the theater in 3D. It's also giving 20th Century Fox and James Cameron another chance to make boatloads of money. That's fine with me though. To me, it's worth it. I love this movie. IMO, I think everyone who enjoyed this film, should take the oppurunity to see it in 3D, if they haven't already. The Special Edition contains about 8 minutes of never before seen footage. That's not much, considering the film hits the three hour mark, but I'm on board. I'm looking forward to seeing it in 3D again. Extra footage or not. It's a good time. Anyone thinking about going to see it again? Or for the first time in 3D? 8 extra minutes of suck? No thanks. Move over George Lucas, here comes James Cameron! I guess it's not for everyone. I didn't know you were such a fan, Jack Aubrey. I'm shocked. Oh, happy late birthday dude! Avatar and James Cameron rules. It's still better than Matchstick Men.

  6. QUOTE (Rendclaw @ Aug 22 2010, 03:08 AM) Darth Maul was popular *because* he was a silent badass. The only Sith Lord you saw fight up to that point was Vader, and he got his ass kicked by Luke in ROTJ. I always thought Lucas screwed the pooch by killing him off in the first prequel and should have had him in the second one as the opponent to Anakin while Obi-Wan took on Count Dooku. Maul came in, said little and beat the hell out of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon until Obi-Wan finally got to him. Lucas forgot that all of the little kids and teens that loyally watched his movies multiple times (and lined his pockets) in the 70s and 80s were now grown adults, and for the most part their tastes changed. They deserved a lot better than they got, and there were too many similarities to Episode IV in the first movie, too busy of a storyline in the second, and redeemed itself in the third, but too little too late. All throughout the acting was substandard, with no chemistry between Christensen and Portman when there NEEDED to be. But instead Lucas catered to kids and made some terrible choices in doing so.

QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 18 2010, 10:06 AM) QUOTE (Andrew1 @ Aug 18 2010, 07:43 AM) QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Aug 18 2010, 08:36 AM) The latest trailers for the upcoming video game Star Wars: The Old Republic show what Star Wars can be when it's treated with dignity and respect. The Old Republic trailer one, "Decieved". The Old Republic trailer two, "Hope For Alderaan". I believe it. Cool. I'll check them out. Thanks Jack Aubrey! I forgot to mention earlier that Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is very good. Some of those episodes are better than any of the prequels. Have you seen any of those? I definitely recommend them. Yeah, I've been meaning to check them out, I've a friend who also recommended them. You have got to be kidding me, dude. I don't even know what to say. I'm a Star Wars fan again. Those trailers were kick-ass. Why couldn't the prequels have been like that? That's Star Wars. You'll have to fill me in. Is that a trailer for a game? What time period is this? Is it an alternate storyline or does it tie into the movies? I think the prequels should be redone like that. Who cares if they aren't live-action? That was awesome. Thanks Jack Aubrey. They should have done the Clone Wars series like that. The characters are way more cartoonish. Still a great show but after seeing those trailers.... Damn!

  9. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Aug 18 2010, 08:05 AM) QUOTE (Andrew1 @ Aug 18 2010, 12:37 AM) That final duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul was awesome. But then he kills off one of the baddest Sith lords ever. Why? He was the best part of Episode I. So I'm thinking that the lightsaber battles will be something to look forward to in the upcoming films, right? No. He pisses right in my face. A tragedy. I would say Darth Maul was one of the worst parts of Episode 1 (worst has to go to the acting of the people who played Annakin and his mother, then Jar Jar, then... well, there's a lot that went wrong). Darth Maul was a one-dimensional character that didn't speak and was kind of the obligatory bad guy. I was seriously unimpressed and was glad when he was killed just so I didn't have to watch him and his stupid devil outfit anymore. I think the light saber battles got better after he left, especially the Yoda ones. Regardless, the prequels simply should have not been made. You're right about him bringing out the worst in some great actors, and he did have some truly great actors in the prequels. It's not their fault that they were told to be as stiff as possible and read what at times was some REALLY lame dialogue. That's cool goober. I totally disagree with your view on Darth Maul. I guess maybe because Episode I was such a "kids" movie. I felt he kind of brought back a little of the bad-ass charm of the originals. I do agree with you on the Yoda lightsaber battles. He was a bad-ass. I got so caught up in my rant that I failed to mention him. You're all right goober. What else do you got?
  10. QUOTE (nobodys hero @ Aug 17 2010, 12:41 PM) QUOTE (analog guy @ Aug 17 2010, 01:14 AM) Yep, few snafus early. When the video went out, the whole place did a collective "WTF". Geddy looked like he had some issues with the in-ears early; looked frustrated. All was soon forgotten from about Freewill onwards. Choked up at Subdivisions again... what can I say? My favorite band playing my favorite song in a place about as close to a slice of heaven as it gets. Can't say I dug the crowd. A little too inebriated at the end for my liking. Maybe I'm just getting old, but the fast track to the beer line seems to go right in front of me and I get tired of it very quickly. I do agree with you here on the beer problem had people using my seat as the aisle to go in and out. Had a drunk who didn't even know where his seat was and stood in my way the whole time. The worst a woman who won a contest for the tickets, sound check, etc. She arrived late, missed the sound check and generally knew who they were but was not a fan. Her son had no clue who the band was and texted all night. Wish I could've brought my friends Mikey & Patty down to those seats. As for the band, no complaints, they played a killer show. Sounds like you had one hell of a night. I've always wanted to see a show at Red Rocks. I've got a friend in Denver who wants me to fly out and see a show but we can never seem to get our schedules straight. Some day.... There should be a law about people winning those seats who aren't big fans or worse. I totally hear you. I don't know how many times I've seen the same thing. I know that's how it goes but come on! People win something like that and they go just to go. It makes me want to f***ing cry sometimes. Oh well.... I'm glad you had a great show. I've been trying to get back to the front row for 15 years but can't seem to get closer than 5th. There's nothing like being up front at a Rush show. A lot of deserving and loyal fans will never get that chance. A damn shame.
  11. I didn't read through all the posts so I apologize if this has already been said. I don't know what George was thinking by directing all three prequels. He's gotten soft in his old age. (Spielberg too IMO) I read that Spielberg wanted to direct Episode III but Lucas said no. What the f**k!? Seriously?! Spielberg may be getting soft as well but it would have been so much better. Lucas totally f*cked up three of the most widely anticipated films of all time. It makes me sick to think about what they might have been. He's not a director. His talent lies in editing. How is it that he brings out the worst in some great actors? That's hard to do. He's like another Roland Emmerich. I don't want to get started because I'll be typing for another two hours. Oh well.... I will give him this though. That final duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul was awesome. But then he kills off one of the baddest Sith lords ever. Why? He was the best part of Episode I. So I'm thinking that the lightsaber battles will be something to look forward to in the upcoming films, right? No. He pisses right in my face. A tragedy. If you haven't seen the South Park episode where Lucas and Spielberg rape Indiana Jones, then you must. A classic. I hate to say it, but that episode says it all about Lucas and Spielberg's "Empire". Sad but true. f**k it. Their time is past. We still have James Cameron, Ridley Scott, and Christopher Nolan among others. That makes me feel better. Time for a drink!

The Charmed Life tour. They rocked but so did Billy Idol. No shit. I can honestly say that Idol put on one of the best shows I've seen. That dude is an entertainer. Faith No More's lead singer, Mike Patton is just as good. That band has so much individual talent, it's sickeneing. Kind of like our boys from Canada. Far Beyond Driven tour. Pantera. We went to see Sepultura. Again, both bands f***ing rocked. 30 minutes was not nearly enough time for Sepultura, but Pantera put on one hell of a show. IMO, either band could have opened for the other in both cases. Great shows. I saw Pantera on that tour. Prong opened for them when I saw them, and there was supposed to be another band, too, but something happened and they didn't play. I think Prong picked up a lot of the slack and played a longer set. I saw Prong when they opened for White Zombie. They were better than Zombie. Shocker! But not by much. Where did you see them? I just realized that you saw Sepultura open for Pantera. Wow. No doubt. I love Pantera, but Sepultura is who I really wanted to see. Like I said before, a 30 minute opening set wasn't nearly enough time for them. They were just kicking ass and then it was over. They were promoting Chaos A.D. on that tour. Pantera came out and just rocked. They were so much louder than Sepultura but I'm pretty sure that was on purpose. I guess they didn't want to be "showed up" but that's how it goes when you're an opener. Great show except that I thought I broke my back when I landed on the back of a seat bolted into the concrete. Thank god it was near the end of the show. I couldn't walk upright for two weeks. No shit. The good old days.
  13. I was there. Great pics and thanks for sharing. That was an awesome show. We were on the floor and it was VERY cramped, not to mention hot. It didn't ruin my night though.

QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ Jul 31 2010, 02:26 PM) QUOTE (hughes&kettner @ Jul 31 2010, 08:31 AM) hmmm. how about alice in chains opening for VH in the early 90's? saw that 3 times... metallica open for Ozzy in '86????????? are you kidding me?????? or: FREAKING PRIMUS opening for RUSH!!! on counterparts??? or Eric Johnson opening for RUsh on roll the bones 3 times?? Down open for Metallica in '09!! Jerry Cantrell open for metallica in '94 his band played the dark side of the moon...amazing! kinda cheeting: 95 lolapalooza- saw the ramones and soundgarden play before metallica. or monsters of rock in '88: metallica and the scorpions, then VH (i didn't forget to mention dokken or kingdom come; i just left them out...) those were some great openers! now, for the not so great!! worst ever: weedeater opening for Down. they were without question, the worst assembly of crap ever to attempt at playing music on a stage...just brutal. the melvins were between them and down, they sucked as well. down kicked all kinds of booty thankfully! lauren harris open for her dad's band... i was looking forward to hearing lamb of god open for metallica last year; i heard good things about them- they were weak. a bunch of recycled metal riffs and grooves... funny to me how so many of the newer metal bands are reaching for the heaviness of Pantera...too bad they will never get there. Speaking of System of a Down, what the hell are they doing? Damn, it's been way too long since we've had anything from them.....they kick ass System Of A Down. They do kick ass. I hated them when they first came out. Don't ask me why. 'Chop Suey' was not a good first impression I guess. I needed to borrow a CD real quick one day and my cousin tossed me 'Hypnotize'. I was blown away. Extremely talented band. Smart and original. Original is an understatement. They have those quadratic equation time signatures that are just crazy. How they come up with those arrangements is beyond me. They're still kind of doing their own thing right now. I heard a few months back from a local rock station that there had been some discussion among them about getting back together, but who knows? I would expect something in the next year or two. They're to good of a band to not do it again. They cranked out a lot of material in a short span. They probably fried their brains.

  19. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jul 31 2010, 11:20 AM) It went by really fast for me. I remember thinking , It's over already?Just flew by for me Same here. Couldn't believe it was over. We drove almost 500 miles round trip to see them in Chicago. I figured that would be it, but after seeing that show, I'm thinking about going to see them again in Columbus, OH. Screw the setlist. Just go to the damn show.
  20. QUOTE (Mara @ Jul 23 2010, 09:23 PM) Well! Glad to see you've had a change of heart and are actually kind of looking forward to it. Seriously - a number of people who were initially disappointed in the setlist (and hey - there are a shitload of songs I'd have loved to see on it as well) have returned to say they were pleasantly surprised after actually hearing it live. What Mara just said. I was one of those people. Go dude. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I know that some will not agree, but I think they keep getting better and better. Past their prime? No way. $400 for a third row seat? That's a good f***ing deal man. For that reason alone, I'd go even if they were covering Creed songs the whole night. Maybe..........
  21. 'Time Machine' is basically just the theme of their comedic skits in the videos. When this tour was first announced, I was expecting a setlist with all kinds of old and obscure songs. Like myself, a lot of people were expecting the same thing but it just wasn't the case. I kind of think that maybe it was intentional. They were just f***ing with us and they got us good. I said maybe.... When I first saw the setlist, I was a little disappointed. But when I saw the show, I was blown away. No shit dude. It was one of the their best performances IMO. Stop looking so deep into it. Like Gene Simmons said, "It's RUSH!" Stop getting all bent out of shape over this and just go see them. You won't regret it. After the show, the setlist I was so disappointed with was the last thing on my mind. That's why I'll never bitch about another setlist. Regardless of what they play, it's still going to be one of the best live shows you'll ever witness. Relax and enjoy these guys while you still can. It's RUSH!
  22. How about......'Mermaid Dune Buggy'? I'm a f***ing genius!
  23. QUOTE (Mustard Death @ Jul 19 2010, 09:08 PM) If you're a pretty big fan of the first movie, absolutely enamored with the idea of the Predator race, but constantly saddened that only one good film has come out of the franchise... go see this one. It's the only movie involving preds that's worth paying to see, other than the first one. Everything you just said is me. That's the answer I was looking for. I was probably going to see it anyway, but now I'm definitely going. I'm not expecting another sequel like Aliens. I just want to see a film worthy of the original. Predator is one of my favorite films. I'm a sci-fi/action freak. What can I say?
  24. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Jul 17 2010, 09:20 PM) This song had some meaning to me when it came out. But now, middle aged, with friends gowing older, some who have died, kids of my own and other growing older, time passing , parents of friends passing away, time going by, this song has 100x the meaning it had when it came out. Given my age (two score and change as I always say) its amazing how this song wnet from meaningful to f-cking autobiographical. Just thought Id share I'm glad you shared. I was loving this song when I was 17 and could barely relate. Now, with every passing year I grow older, it provides more and more meaning and gets better every time I hear it. I totally get where you're coming from dude. One of their best songs for sure.
