  1. I feel for you LIX...my brother also coaches 5th grade, and started back when his oldest was playing. My advice, you know that letter you handed them at the beginning of the season? Make it a word document and attach it to your reply with "these are the policies of this team, which you agreed to when you signed your child up for football. We will not deviate from them. Please reread the attachment, as it is obvious that you no longer have your coply of our policies." and then it's up to them to go read them again.
  2. Just got back from my cousin's wedding in the U.P. Saw and acknowledged someone in a Rush shirt at the reception...so if that was you, Hi . I don't think your wife appreciated your style, but I did!
  3. QUOTE (D3strukt @ Aug 18 2011, 09:03 PM) To everyone. Thank you VERY much for the kind words. I've been fighting that nagging fear in the back of my brain. I've been attempting to unwind. Well, I was doing fine until I broke my rolands. I got so angry, so I decided to pound away that frusteration to some AC/DC. Messed up the ride cymbal trigger. So now my only way to get away from everything is music. Time for lots of Rush, folks! Is there a garbage cart or can that you can bang on outside? (or in the garage) I really feel for you, and drumming was a good idea. I'm sending a big hug your way and lots of prayers!
  4. Planking = showing the world that you are lazy enough to take a nap anywhere.
  5. Happy, Happy Birthday! I hope it was great!
  6. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Aug 11 2011, 07:57 PM) QUOTE (CMWriter @ Aug 10 2011, 11:37 PM) Do I really need a blender and a toaster? Really? There's a dining hall in the residence hall. A toaster, definitely. A microwave is good, too, if they'll let you have one. I don't know how your meal plan works, but ours was a debit system, and what they don't tell you is that the amount they ask you to put on it is not enough to cover all the meals during a semester. I ran out my first semester and ended up having to put more money on it, whcih really cut into my spending money. I quickly learned to have a lot of cheap boxed food on hand, and we had a little store on campus that, while more expensive than an off-campus grocery store, was still cheaper than eating all your meals in the dining hall. It definitely pays to do your homework on this before you go! I agree that you need a back up plan for food. I had a friend whose account went dry in November(way back when I was in college), and she finished the semester eating cup o soup and crackers. Also, what if you are sick and can't make it to the dining hall? It's good to have some food in your dorm room for those times. (I'll be there's a microwave available for your use, right?)
  7. QUOTE (Merely Space @ Aug 4 2011, 05:36 PM) Good luck & get it over with. The only thing worse than doing it is not doing it. especially if you've already started the prep.
  8. Be like Nike, just do it! If you do it, I'll do it....next year. It's required after a certain age. Get some depends for the trip to the testing site. Saved my sister a load of embarrassment.
  9. Actually, those prices don't sound too bad. I remember spending that much for books, and it's been over 20 years since I was in college.
  10. QUOTE (GotRush @ Jul 29 2011, 05:38 PM) QUOTE (nettiesaur @ Jul 29 2011, 12:49 PM)My pet peeve is that car that is the second one behind you on the ramp to the freeway, who sneaks out from behind you when it's your turn to merge, leaving you with no where to go, so you have to brake and swerve into the emergency lane Hope that wasn't ME !!! My theory & experiance is if you had merged they Could not have "sneaked" around you, so try that, Merge quikly & Block the sneaker ! oh- BTW- I hate dirty windows ecspecially windshields. . You don't get it. I'm right at the dotted line, they are back by the solid line. I'm the one with the right of way and they aren't obeying the traffic laws in this state. The only open slot is up by me, and when they zoom in and take it, I have to swerve to avoid an accident. and refer to the manners thread for why your attitude isn't o.k.

There are so many people here who do that! I was on the freeway Wednesday and it happened at every on ramp( I had to switch to several different areas on the freeway). I was not going slowly either, I was right at freeway speed when I got to the end, and had to brake to avoid an accident.

It's cliche, but true: millions of people have been right where you are now. For better or worse (and this might sound a little unhelpful), you're not unique in this situation. It's been done before, and frequently. So, I have two things to add to this. First, see if you can test out. Some school districts in some states will let you test out of high school. Second, you said you have social anxiety. That's a problem if you don't even want to go to a job to get out of the school system you hate so much. That says to me that your anxiety is more of a problem than the school - and probably contributes to your feelings about the school in a circular way. Advice? Talk to a therapist, talk to your parents, talk to TRF'ers, if that'll help. Just talk. And if you do see a professional, resist being put on medication of any kind unless you get a second and third opinion. Too many professionals are too quick to prescribe to kids today. I know. It's nice to know that other people have made it, I guess. I've never heard of doing the testing thing, so i'm pretty sure you can't do it here. I'd probably bomb it anyway. I get below average scores in science and math. I've seen a therapist twice before. I really wish they would have prescribed me something, because I know you control your thoughts, but I just can't do it. It's been two-three years now and it just keeps getting worse. Doesn't help that good therapy is expensive (though I know they have options to get it cheaper through insurance etc) The thing about talking is that I always end up talking my friends' ears off. I end up feeling embarrassed that I'm always leaning on them for help and being sad and a burden. I don't feel close enough with my parents to talk to them. ahhhh life is so great! Another survivor here. and I'm a teacher now. It sounds like you need to talk to your parents, even though you don't feel close to them. They probably don't know how you feel, and don't have a clue that you want to do something else, or finish school in a different way and are also depressed. Yup. Parents are not mind readers, and need you to tell them what's wrong, so they can help you! I've talked to my parents about it before, so I'm a little reluctant to bring it up again. My mom seems to be more open to Alternative things, since she took some Alt classes in high school. My dad, although, seems to think alternatives are just for 'dumb' kids and 'stoners'. I'll try to talk to them soon. I might be able to find out about something. I dunno. All I know is that I don't want to set foot in my high school ever again :x Thanks for all your support, guys. One thing you might want to check into is your local technical or community college. Some have night high school programs, or "adult high school". They might let you into those classes. and, what Mara said. You need to deal with the social anxiety stuff.
  13. Floaters can be a number of things, but sometimes signal that 1) you have a bleed in a blood vessel (common to diabetics) 2) your retina is detatching 3) there is something else going on with your eyes or you have a health problem. Notice that I said CAN be a problem, but only an eye doctor can tell, which is why you need an exam. like 1001001 said TOMORROW!

  15. QUOTE (TullSkull @ Jul 26 2011, 05:31 AM) That brown Acid is bad stuff.... No really now... Do some research here too Mayo Clinic and you need to get to a doctor about it if you can't find anything online. You need to get to an eye doctor right away. Floaters and spots indicate serious eye trouble! Not being able to see in the dark also indicates a serious problem! Go to an eye doctor!!!
  16. Rush freak, creative person, and I hardly ever wear jeans(not true, just not when it's hot!)
  17. QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ Jul 12 2011, 09:07 AM) Sorry, I cannot respond. The button says REPLY. I can only reply. Well, I'm not responding! I'm quoting.
  18. So how is this not responding thing going...oh.
  19. one friend could only tolerate gatorade for her first pregnancy...worth a try.
  20. Yeah that sig was really annoy--- oops!
  21. Yeah, there really aren't many acts this year that I would go to see, maybe Styx and Kansas, and the Bravery, but unless you like country music, the lineup is pretty dull this year.

I wipe butts for a living. There is no more noble a profession than butt wiper. The future is truly in their hands. Adding, "Professional Stain Remover" to my resume. Also, my Dr. Seuss vocabulary is rapidly expanding. Jane I Am. I do wipe butts and remove stains. Do you have stains perhaps from Great Danes? Or maybe in your Hanes? Kill me now. Wait til they like Captain Underpants, SpongeBob (maybe one does already), Junie B. Jones, I Spy books and NO David!...yow. Dr. Seuss is a walk in the park. But maybe you'll enjoy the humor in these instead of the constant social commentary of Dr. Seuss. The oldest never has shown any interest in SpongeBob (maybe he's too young?), but he loves all things, "NO, David!" by David Shannon. Actually, he likes anything by David Shannon. He has another book titled, "Good Boy Fergus" which we read almost every night. And, "The Rain Came Down." Shannon has written quite a few books! The oldest loves books and I'm really happy about that. He gets to choose the books we read together every night before bed and typically picks about five books. Another series he loves are the "Froggy" books, especially,"Froggy's Sleepover," says mom, looking more red in the face than green. Books by David Shannon don't live long on my bookshelves. I have to replace them every year, because my students loooooooove the No David(et al) series. I love Froggy too. Your kids have good taste, so does their Mom. Wiggles and Barney
