  1. Looking back and recalling how many diehard fans that started with Rush in the 70s completely lost their chit in 1982, I'd have to say The Synth Era started with Signals... So, this list...includes songs that may or may not have actually had a synth on them?
  2. Rush ends in Los Angeles later this summer. Geddy will continue making music. Neil and Alex will retire. That's all.
  3. With "Heavy" and "Bastard" added to the headstocks. :laughing guy:
  4. Specifically in Alex's case...psoriatic arthritis is no joke, especially when it comes to the swelling of the fingers and in particular the fingertips. For a guy with huge hands to begin with, I really feel for him and appreciate him giving what he's got up there.
  5. Certainly much more important things to complain aboot. That said, I prefer Peaceable Kingdom, micelf. Killer bass line under the chorus.
  6. I've given this a lot of thought after listening to the first three shows. It's this unbelievably high standard they have set over the years. Minor mistakes made by Rush instantly jump out right at you.
  7. The EDS-1275 weighs somewhere betwixt 12 and 13 pounds. They are weird in that the necks are heavier than the body. Conversely, a Rickenbacker 4080 weighs about 15 pounds.
  8. Why in the world would this be seen as a negative when talking about a band of performance artists?
  9. Yet another example of how serious music writers and critics took themselves in the 70s and 80s. Granted, the written/published word meant more at the time. The bad part about that, of course, is that articles and reviews were about the only means of actual access to artists outside of going to concerts and buying albums, which left the writer in control...and writers can create both reverence of mythical proportions or undeserved cynical impressions that may be far outside any actual reality. "Hipsters" and their self-absorbed need to only use criticism as a means to validate their own smug intelligence have been around for decades. Wonder what these writers would have to say now about these articles?
  10. You gotta download the app, then it will prompt you to link it through yer twitters.
  11. After listening to both shows in their entirety to my ears it sounds like Alex needs to relax, like he's trying too hard to play it perfectly. Alex is uptight, Geddy's voice is what it is. But, damn, the Professor is on his game. Go figure, from the guy that hates touring!
  12. Not going is certainly your choice. All of us hear things differently and with different motivations and expectations. A year from now, you'll be able to say "I just couldn't go see them on R40, I didn't want to remember them that way." To which most will reply, "Oh, ok." I've seen every tour since GUP, I was 13. I'll be just short of 44 when I see them in July, and I have only two things left on my Rush bucket list...hear Jacob's Ladder live and see Xanadu live with the doublenecks. However Geddy sings them is immaterial to me. Then I'll be able to say, "I saw Rush on every tour since I was 13 and saw and heard everything I wanted to see and hear." To which most will reply, Oh, ok." No one is going to deny that he doesn't sound as good as he used to. How much one wants to hold that against him might be put in better perspective by looking in the nearest mirror and asking that guy what he does now as well as he did even ten years ago, let alone 30 or more. Then, while one is at it, when placing in perspective what they are or aren't playing in the first set, tell that guy in the mirror that everything he's done in the last 20 years is worthless compared to what he did prior. How would that feel?
  13. He's got two this tour, one of them looks brand new and the other one is a deep cream color, looks rather old.
  14. An Instagram pic from the Lincoln show, Geddy is using a black 4080 during Xanadu...surprised me, thought maybe the Fireglo one was the only one he had.
  15. Plenty of them. Not all artists measure their worth by so called "hits". Just sayin. Folks should consult with Neil Young and Bob Dylan fans for a primer on that subject.
  16. Over the years I have completely fallen out of love with Natural Science. I have no idea why. I do skip it often.
  17. You're kidding me? Rush went through a dumb period when choosing how to arrange medleys back in 1991. To this day that's the fastest I've ever gone from "Spasmodically delirious" to "Slackjaw buzzkill" at any concert, ever.
