  1. I've been hearing this for years. I've also listened to bootlegs from this tour and always thought that ESL sounds pretty close to the sound at the time.
  2. The drummer not ranked high enough on this list is Ginger Baker...
  3. Ironically, a Geddy Lee Signature Fender Jazz is $899...
  4. "We've got a million songs to play for you tonight..." Whenever Alex hit that first long sustained note to start the Limelight solo...particularly at outdoor shows on sultry summer nights. The jam in the middle of Subdivisions. There's a jam in the middle of every song, but something about Subdivisions... Wondering if Ged would hit all the notes during YYZ, and he always did. The electronic choir during the outro of Marathon. When Alex and Ged split in different directions when the drum solo starts. The laser fan effect during La Villa Strangiato. The sheer and utter power of Between the Wheels. "We hope to see you soon sometime down the road...good night!" Ged never said goodbye, just, see ya next time...
  5. The Big Money. So much fun live.
  6. Put down the crack pipe. Aye. A Rush classic. Never got it. Still don't.
  7. 1. I Think I'm Going Bald 2. Need Some Love 3. The Necromancer 4. Neurotica 5. Carve Away The Stone
  8. Geddy's modern era bass tone doesn't fit 80s material very well in many instances. Listen to Distant Early Warning on ASOH, then check it out on S&A Live. Whoa. Like with so many other songs the bass carries the melody, and the noisier recent tone is, well, noisier and muddled.
  9. In many ways it's the quintessential Rush song, and highlights all the things that make Rush unique. It also seems to be their most popular song with women, which, as far as Rush tunes go, is quite an accomplishment.
  10. Every Fall when the crisp first hits the air, I think of these lyrics. Never been able to understand the hate for Half the World, but to each their own.

    Rush's Roots

For Geddy's influences...a couple things he's mentioned: Check out the early Yes album Time and A Word "3/5 of a Mile in 10 Seconds" off Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane "Spoonful" off Fresh Cream by Cream
  12. Thing is...so...who voted for such a list?: Oh. :outtahere:
  13. Exactly how I feel. They've always been true to the music and don't have any albums that are embarrassing to their legacy. Not even the sound on Rush In Rio? :laughing guy:
  14. When it came out, I loved it from the first listen. Funny thing is, I've tended to do that with every new Rush album that I've ever bought with my own money (Moving Pictures, when I was 12). Heh. As time and albums have gone by, I realized that the best measure for me is how long I keep listening to it. Five years on, I still listen to CA material on a regular basis in the personal rotation, something I haven't done with a Rush album in quite some time after the newness had worn off.
