GOAT : Polarizing Movie Discussion Part One: Scarface
GeddysMullet replied to Lucas's topic in Video Vertigo
It's an acronym Greatest Of All Time. GOAT I know that. I just think it's dumb. Both the acronym and the concept. -

I have this thought daily. Neither writ large, nor preserved for future reference!

GOAT : Polarizing Movie Discussion Part One: Scarface
GeddysMullet replied to Lucas's topic in Video Vertigo
When did "goat" go from meaning "fool, bumbler, screw-up, at fault" to meaning the opposite? -

Both versions are covers. Here is the original: -
The lyrics to Red Barchetta are pretty silly.

Led Zeppelin VS Cream song knockout?
GeddysMullet replied to Texas King's topic in Music Of The Spheres
To tell you the truth, I'm happy about that. I love Cream. Watch this Ginger Baker documentary. The man makes Keith Moon look sane. https://youtu.be/UeT8Hqab79E I loved that film It was very good. I'm always amazed to discover any musician that was in a band in the sixties and is still alive has any sanity left or his wits about him. I'm referring to Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood. Eric actually sounds intelligent. As does Steve. Who knew? ;) I read both Clapton and Baker's autobiographies. Both seemed like pretty crappy people, but between the book and the film I came away favouring Baker because he at least wasn't all full of shit about it. -

Rate the Fleetwood Mac album Rumours

That's how I feel about them too. The chick was hot though so that meant I gave them more attention than if it was just another bunch of dudes. I loved Stevie Nicks' songs too. She's a talented woman. i am fascinated by nicks myself. her albums/songs run from fabulous to complete and utter WTF messes. but one thing is certain either way she holds my attention, lol Mick But that's what I love about her. She can be a goddess one minute, and another she is the drunk girl in the corner who you just know is hot but right now looks like a crying clown. oh me too. i love hearing her talk cause i swear she's created her own reality, lol. she's so nutsy coo coo, lol Mick One of the funniest things I ever read was Courtney Love interviewing Stevie Nicks, because Courtney made Stevie sound sane. -

Well, maybe...but if a woman posted the question of who the sexiest male singer is, in this section, I don't think it would be out of place at all. I think it would I also think there would be a lot of squawking about "Hey we don't want to read this, this is what NWW is for!"

This is the sort of thing we need that occasionally debated "Mens" section for :P

I tried to go in yesterday, hoping for a good old Sunday chat, but it didn't work.

I love Spindrift. It's one of my favourites from the album.

Random Fun/Interesting Facts in Music
GeddysMullet replied to Bigbobby10's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Related to the above: The first never-released song to appear on a "greatest hits" album was John, I'm Only Dancing on David Bowie's 1976 compilation Changesonebowie. -
I am sick and tired of people hating on James LaBrie's voice.

They're about the teen years of the Digital Man. Or is the New World Man?

Disclaimer: Neil has earned the right to quit if he wants. I just never got the impression he was part of Alex's and Ged's "inner circle". I've been a Rush fan since P/G, so I'm not a newbie. He's just always done HIS thing. Right, he's never been part of their inner circle.. Probably by his own subconscious decision. Introverted people seek inner reflection the same way extroverts crave social interaction and nobody in the world understands this unless you're an introvert.. So it's ok, he's not an alcoholic or an asshole, just an animal that you don't understand. How do you know he's not an alcoholic? I don't. I also don't see any reason to think he is so I guess I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Geddy's the one with a basement full of wine.. Why aren't we calling him an alcoholic? ..Oh yeah, because Geddy's still into performing on stage for us.. so so he can't be an alcoholic I don't know if he is or isn't. I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see unsubstantiated opinions stated as fact here. Did someone state as a fact that he's an alcoholic? It's in the quoted posts, check it. Nowhere in these quoted posts do I see anyone stating it as fact. As per the bolding I added, I see it implied that Neil is an alcoholic, and I see a statement that does not appear to be sarcastic that he is not an alcoholic , but not any statement whatsoever that it is a fact that Neil is an alcoholic.
