  1. That's exactly what the evening was to me. Rush were the headliner, and everyone else went first because they were less important. It may have been a bummer for the other artists, but they all had control over their own destinies just like Rush did. If they had a problem with being less interesting to the room, maybe they should have made some better music and brought more fans with them. The article wasn't well-written or funny enough to have any tongue-in-cheek value to me. It's just stupid.
  2. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for posting these in such a sneaky way! It made my night. Let's see how long it takes for HBO to figure it out.
  3. A band that has passionate fans is "spun" to be negative. If they had been inducted in a timely manner, none of this would be an issue. I thought the "rock historian" circle-jerk of Rush bashing was behind us.
  4. I had no idea Spin was still a magazine. Who gives a shit?
  5. It's working now. A few hours ago it was automatically redirecting me here over and over again: http://www.anthementertainmentgroup.com/sro/anthem/intro.php
  6. I can't find it anymore. Every time I try to go to rush.com it sends me to some generic Anthem page. Anyone else having this problem?
  7. QUOTE (ak2112 @ May 1 2011, 12:30 AM) For some people, louder = better. Not me. I'll stick with the 25.8P and MFSL when I want the best sound. For some people, louder = greater signal-to-noise ratio. I would love to do a study of my own by doing a double-blind listening test of my own (including adjusting all of the sound samples to the same volume), but I'm going to use the money I'll save by not buying nine copies of the same album to buy food and gas.
  8. I think it would be way better if it were called Crimson Tide. Roll Tide.
  9. QUOTE (Soni @ May 11 2011, 07:23 AM) I'm so f*cking sick to see a new "Is Neil too old." or "This is Rush's last tour" type threads every time I log in on TRF. I joined this forum to talk with other Rush fans, to share my love of the band with others. Not to read stupid trolls. Until this f*cked up trend of stupid threads keeps going, I won't post nor look at this sub forum. See ya in the Pit, Nick. ps rulezzz bitches!!! It's a legitimate topic about Rush being discussed in a Rush forum. Boo f***ing hoo.
  10. QUOTE (thebernreuter @ Apr 29 2011, 07:54 AM) Geddy's voice. I didn't go this tour because it's gotten to where it's too hard to listen to. I hate to say it because he is one of my all time vocal heroes, but he just cracks too much now. Either they need to space the dates out way more, play for less than three hours (no), play more instrumentals because they're better than ever instrumentally, or just stop. I don't want them to go out as an embarrassment like some of the shit "classic rock" bands; they're way too awesome and important to music for that. I'm going to have to revise my thoughts here a little, and hopefully serve as the thread killer as well. I listened to the Ft. Lauderdale show the other night, and it's still an enjoyable listen. Geddy's handling himself pretty well. Some songs are really rough - Spirit of Radio - but overall he's making the best of the voice he's got right now, and I'd still pay for a ticket. I don't he can afford to lose much more of his voice, though.
  11. QUOTE (rushgoober @ May 27 2010, 12:46 PM) QUOTE (Merely Space @ May 27 2010, 10:42 AM) QUOTE (LeaveMyThingAlone @ May 27 2010, 12:40 PM) The Million dollar question everyone will be asking is... Will Vapor Trails be included in this???? I hope so. It would be VT's best bet to finally go gold! Seriously they need to just delete this album and remove it from their catalog - best to pretend it never happened. Remix it, remaster it, do whatever - it will still be their worst album by a very wide margin. Ok, I'll be quiet now. Nope. Still ahead of self-titled, Fly By Night, Hold Your Fire, and Roll the Bones. And Feedback. And Counterparts.
  12. QUOTE (ak2112 @ Apr 30 2011, 04:23 PM) I'm not sure what kind of mind altering substances you're using but all you need to do is look at a waveform of any track of the 97 remaster and you'll see it is brickwalled to shit. There are multiple sections, particularly on Tom Sawyer, where it goes to clipping. This sucker is loud and louder. There is NO dynamic range. Get a copy of the original US Atomic or better yet, the MFSL and you'll hear what real dynamic range sounds like. Your statement above is pure fantasy. You've been spending too much time hooked up to an iPod my friend. However, I do enjoy your posts as you have a fantastic sense of humor. I think we could have some very lively debates about music, so carry on please There aren't really any dynamics on the record in general. It's not a jazz record or anything. It might be brickwalled, but I know digital distortion when I hear it, and it's not here. I don't own any other masters of this record, so you could be right. I'll just remain ignorant on this one because I'm not enough of an audiophile to buy it nine times I don't mind the spirit of audiophilia; I just think scientifically there's very little evidence to back up the bitching about 24bit/192khz bluray nonsense being superior to CD audio in terms of what people can actually hear, there actually being more "resolution" in analog sources in terms of what comes out of the speakers - two samples per cycle is enough, four isn't really even necessary but whatever. People can spend their money however they like, but it makes me cringe a little when I hear about people spending a bajllion dollars on speakers, cables, weird headphone amplifiers, for minimal if any quantifiable gain. I'm glad you appreciate my humor! Some find it excruciating.
  13. The remixes would be perfect without the change to the bass guitar sound. Sounds like pooh now. On the original record it had the overdriven intensity Geddy uses live. On the remixes it's extremely clean and the eq is weird.
  14. QUOTE (SeamusWiles @ Apr 29 2011, 09:03 PM) One Little Victory is such a superior song it isn't even fair. It's like comparing Moving Pictures and Presto. Wrong. I hate "One Little Victory." The garbage mix doesn't help, especially the vocal production. Way better live. Still inferior to "Far Cry."
  15. QUOTE (yyzyy @ Apr 30 2011, 02:10 PM) We know it sounds terrible. Huh? Sounds awesome in terms of engineering. It depends on the standards you're talking about. "Terrible" is relative. Look around at some of the covers of Rush songs on YouTube and you'll see what I mean. Great song selection! More synth in the mix! At least in some places, especially in the in the instrumental bridge! That's the melody there, and I think you may have taken some stuff down an octave. The lower mids get cluttered; probably why they chose the original octaves on the album. I could do without the harmony vocals. There's enough going on in this song harmonically; it crowds the mix. Chop off the first 37 seconds of the video and you'll get more views! I almost quit watching it, but then of course the awesomeness kicked in and then it was all good I agree with some of the feedback on the vox, positive and negative, but they're fine. A little more balls and attitude would be cool, but you guys had a short amount of time. Overall great; minor tweaks could make it really awesome!

  17. QUOTE (ak2112 @ Apr 14 2011, 09:52 PM) QUOTE (greg2112 @ Apr 14 2011, 06:54 AM) Ill take the 97 remaster...nice and loud. Thats exactly like you'll get it, nice and loud....and distorted. There is absolutely no distortion on the '97 remaster. You guys are nuts. Find me a vinyl copy with equal or greater signal to noise ratio as any CD version, equal or greater dynamic range, consistent fidelity from edge to center, equivalent or greater stereo separation to that of any CD version, and equal wear on both sides of the groove or no wear at all. Then, after I've fed my unicorn and watched a few episodes of the 4th season of Arrested Development, I'll listen to it, blindfolded, interchangeably with the '97 master, and the '97 master will always sound better, because in the digital vs. analog tractor pull, digital always wins. Except for Vapor Trails.
  18. QUOTE (ak2112 @ Apr 13 2011, 03:23 PM) The main thing that irritates me about this release is that it's been advertised as a high Rez 24 bit/96kHz remaster when in fact it is not. It is an upsampled 16 bit/44.1kHz master. Now, many on here might not care about this kind of thing but myself and many others do since it is false advertising, bordering on fraud. It may be 5.1 folks, but it is not high Rez. Very sad. None of you guys are going to be able to hear the difference between 16/44.1 and 24/96 anyway, especially on a rock record.
  19. QUOTE (ak2112 @ Apr 9 2011, 04:23 PM) Lets just hope the source tape for the other albums was better recorded than Moving Pictures. Haha something is wrong with the source tapes for Moving Pictures? I can tolerate mild to moderate audiophilia, as ignorant and ridiculous as it usually is, but this is overshooting a little.
  20. QUOTE (That One Guy @ Feb 19 2011, 01:14 PM) What Rush do you hear on the radio? I'm in SLC and there's maybe 3 stations that put them in the loop. Last night we were driving around and my friend wanted to hear Working Man. It wasn't on any CD in my car. An hour later Working Man pops up on the radio. Later we start some shenanigans and Freewill comes on. When Rush came to town last August... You've never heard so much Rush on the radio. The restaurant I work at plays satellite radio all day, and in the last few weeks I've heard "Subdivisions" and "The Big Money." The other day I heard two Triumph songs too; "Lay It On the Line" and "Fight the Good Fight." Other people at work thought they were also Rush songs
  21. QUOTE (The Owl @ Jun 1 2010, 12:45 AM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Jun 1 2010, 12:41 AM) I just finished listening to Caravan for the first time........... sounds great.... One criticism though....... You could easily tell this was a radio edit..... there are minute skips in the audio where you could tell music was cut out........ The edit was not that bad, but I could tell that it was one.......I just can't wait to hear the whole thing.... (Here's hoping the final version is around 10 minutes long) Just finished BU2B! I like it very much as well...........and the fact that this is an edited version as well is much less obvious. Haha did you hear the cut at 1:56 in "BU2B?" That one hurts. Odd choice to make an obvious cut at the end of a drum fill on a Rush album.
  22. (some of these have been suggested already) Sweet Miracle Everyday Glory Losing It Middletown Dreams Grand Designs Different Strings - maybe acoustic? Prime Mover Presto Heresy
  23. My mommy is a mammographer. Yay me! I've heard horror stories of the machine getting stuck during the compression phase. Owie. There's an emergency abort thing, thank goodness.
