  1. Hey everyone. What time is the show tonight likely to get out? I'm trying to arrange a ride home. Will it be around 11?
  2. QUOTE (barchetta90480 @ Dec 14 2010, 01:28 PM) I love Anagram. I think it's underrated. I'd even love to hear it live. ... Seriously ... [it's out now ... So glad I did that ...] Feel no shame, you are not alone. Anagram has always been a guilty pleasure for me. Love Geddy's vocals on this one. It always amazes me when I see people gush over CL, Superconductor and Available Light. To me, those songs really should have been recorded for HYF. They would have been right at home on the worst Rush album ever. Just my opinion folks. No need for the HYF apologists to respond.
  3. I think some of the guesses have been good. What I initially thought of was them playing with the orchestra at the Bowl, but if that is the case, why would they film Cleveland? They may end up coming through around July. Perhaps a fireworks show is in the works. A free concert would be great. They won't be doing it. Maybe something with an opening act or special guests. It better not be a farewell show.
  4. At some point, it's overkill. I'd be happy if they filmed and included a few of rarely played songs as a bonus feature on the 2011 tour DVD. Kind of what they did with the 2008 tour, but in reverse.
  5. In my experience, when something doesn't sound right, it usually isn't.
  6. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Jun 16 2010, 04:14 PM) The worst Rush song is still better than standing in line to get a $10.00 light beer while being crushed between people who smell like they haven't bathed in weeks or standing in a puddle of someone else's urine staring at a brick wall in the bathroom. I don't know about that. Have you listened to Dog Years recently?
  7. I agree. Wouldn't mind hearing it live one time.
  8. Theatrically speaking, The Wall tour will blow the Time Machine tour away. That said, the music for The Wall is essentially being proformed by a cover band. Without Gilmour's voice and guitar, it really isn't the real thing. Waters may sing most of the vocals on that record, but Gilmour sang lead on most of the better songs. Pink Floyd after Waters was able to still flourish because Gilmour replacing Waters' lead vocals actually made those songs sound better. You wouldn't even notice a real difference on songs like Brain Damage or Shine On. Sadly, Wright's great harmony vocals on gone forever.
  9. I was a little bummed when I heard they were playing the entire Moving Pictures record as TS really needs a rest. I'd be surprised if they brought back RTB. I think they figured out how dated it is. That probably gets my vote as I'd think WTF? if they played it again. This such a creative band, but their setlists are not that creative. Just play some great songs we haven't heard in a good long while. The S&A tour was a move in that direction. Digital Man was great to hear. Just give us some surprises and drop most of the songs that always seem to get played. I didn't miss The Trees, Red Sector A, 2112, Bravado or RTB at all on the 2007 tour.
  10. QUOTE (Maksa @ May 31 2010, 11:50 PM) First of all, a disclaimer. I heard the songs for the first time when it was 6am here, and the night went with very little sleep (a voice constantly shouting "new Rush songs tomorrow morning yayyyzzz!" in my brain, annoying that ) So I am a bit foggy. But I didn't get the immediate OMG-feeling I got from, let's say, Far Cry. Sounds a bit too much like any other prog-metal band out there. I was expecting a way more negative reaction on the forums to be honest, as this isn't typical Rush in my opinion. (But what is typical Rush? Well this definitely is again a new direction from The Boys, and I guess THAT is typical Rush.) We'll see how I feel after a day of listening to the new tracks. It's going to take a lot of getting used to before I could claim I like those songs. Not my favourite ones, no. I agree that neither song grabbed me the way Far Cry did when I first heard it. But in terms of the apparent direction the band is going (merging new Rush with old Rush), I was pleasantly surprised. It works. It rocks. It is amazing that these guys are pushing 60. Just amazing. Also really happy that the Chorus of Geddys has disappeared for now. Can't wait to hear more.
  11. QUOTE (Hemispheres89 @ May 24 2010, 06:44 PM) QUOTE (ZivotSon @ May 24 2010, 06:29 PM) Which of the unplayed songs would the fans get most excited about? I think looking at the bigger albums is probably the best place to start. Personally, I aways wanted to hear Entre Nous and it was great hearing it in 2007. My guess this time is Losing It. I think Alex could do something interesting in the violin solo part. It's also interesting that it's getting close to the time that the song applies to the band itself. While not one of my favorites, Alex has said that Emotion Detector has one of his favorite solos in it, so that could be a possibility. If it's I Think I'm Going Bald or Dog Years, I'm taking a beer break . . . and demanding a partial refund. LOL really!? I can agree with "I Think I'm Going Bald" But Dog Years is actually (don't laugh) one of my favourite Rush songs and I can see them playing it. Very energetic and hard rocking which should surely get the crowd going. I also wouldn't mind hearing "Half The World" but that's wishful thinking on my part Sorry. I just cringe at Dog Years. To each his own.

  13. I tried but couldn't get anything good at Gibson at the $150 price. The location of the $100 seats was laughable on the presale. I will wait for the regular sale and hope to get something decent.
  14. I didn't read the whole thread, so I imagine someone has already pointed this out, but the marketing approach to this tour is pretty smart. Diehards will come out for anything, but you get a larger audience by basically calling it a nostalgia tour and tying it to Moving Pictures. Hopefully, they'll dust off a few more songs that they haven't played in recent years (decades). As for new songs, it would be sort of cool to hear them for the first time in a concert setting. So I'm sort of hoping they don't release anything in advance.
  15. I saw them twice at the Forum back in the day for Signals and GUP. The sound at the Forum is much better than at the Staples Center. The sound at the Nokia Theatre in 2008 was the best I can remember. I guess they wanted a larger venue or had a scheduling problem.
  16. QUOTE (amalignantfarcry @ Apr 13 2007, 12:22 PM) Im totally starting to lose it for him. He is starting to rail on like a liberal with a bone to pick about anything, almost bandwagon like. His lyrics in the past always had a message or something like a centrist story line to it. I consider myself politically a centrist. I don't like raging right wingers and I don't like loony leftists either. But Rush is really taking a step towards hitting the ball into the left field big time with S&A. Fear seems to be a big issue with Neil. It seems to have reached a fevered pitch with him. What's sad to me as a fan of 3 decades is that I know Geddy feels the same way since he stated numerous times in the past that he can not sing anything he does not have the same convictions about. Your post reminded me of Neil's comment in the past to the effect of "People think they know me. They don't know me."
