  1. I have never taken that magazine seriously. Ever.

Orchestra?? they're coming with an orchestra? that'll be cool! anyone seen them in recent years? Gillan's voice holding up? what's Steve Morse Like? Ian Paice!! Gillans voice isn't what it used to be , but the show was amazing...Never known anything so loud in the pit apart from Airbourne....Not sure if the tour will feature an orchestre , but this'll give you an idea of how they sound with one Highway Star wow he's got no voice left! I know!!! That's part of the reason why I think they should call it quits. He just can't handle it anymore. It's really sad to see him struggling so much on stage, and I ask myself: does he REALLY need to be there? Is he THAT desperate for cash? I don't think so. That kind of stuff makes me admire Robert Plant even more, for deciding not to reunite Led Zeppelin. No. Purple won't be Purple without Ian Gillan. If he quits, that moron Coverdale will want to join. Just watch.
  3. They are fabulous. I remember when Hocus Pocus came out in 1973. Drummer Pierre van der Linden is way ahead of Neil!
  4. Recently been listening to Joe Jackson. When he first came out, I thought he was weird. He is New Wave, but also a great Jazz musician and plays several instruments. This is a great tune! Crank it up and dance! Miss those days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1CLZdrFkYQ
  5. I love Simon, but I will never buy a CD by this egomaniac.
  6. Sad to hear this. I hate death. Why does it have to happen? It just seems so wrong. Rest in Peace Freddie! You can jam with your old friend Buddy! http://www.spinner.com/2011/10/12/freddie-...r-drummer-dead/
  7. Middletown Dreams. One of the greatest Rush songs ever.
  8. Had to go with The Jimi Hendrix Experience because I think Hendrix blows Clapton out of the water.
  9. QUOTE (CMWriter @ Oct 12 2011, 12:37 AM) ...Actually read the books so you can see all of these events in context so they actually make sense.
  10. Never. Besides, By-Tor and The Snow Dog was recorded WAY before sampling was in invented.
  11. QUOTE (tangy @ Sep 22 2011, 03:01 PM) i read that MP is shooting a video with Peart and Bozzio today. then he flies to rock in rio to play a one time gig with stone sour. the guy stays busy thats for sure. Why is he doing a video with Peart and Bozzio? What's the point? I saw a video of Neil jamming with Bozzio. It was ludicrous. Neil has no idea how to jam and improvise. Whenever he tries to, it goes nowhere.
  12. QUOTE (driventotheedge @ Sep 21 2011, 02:05 PM) OK, saw them night before last and all I've got to say is that if they're coming to your neck of the woods, GO SEE THEM!! (They are touring down the west coast at present) A 2 hour show with prettty much every song you'd want to hear. Phil Mogg's voice is still very good and I saw them from about 15 feet away (I believe most of the venues are going to be small). Vinnie Moore is a fine, fine guitarist. $25 for the show with a nu metal band opening (called Mindflow........nu metal is not my cup but these guys were a definite cut above most of that genre) was a MAJOR bargain. The place is a small theater (800 capacity) so no bad seats. It's an older, kind of dumpy place but nicely intimate and excellent acoustics. (I've also seen Wishbone Ash, Savoy Brown and The Tubes there along with Montrose the night before) One thing that crossed my mind while watching the show is the divergent paths this band and Rush took after they toured together back in the day. I just saw Rush twice, once with 12,000 other people (6/28/11) and once with 16,000-17,000 other people (7/2/2011). Then a couple of months later I'm seeing UFO with 800 people. Made me wonder if UFO might have done much better if Schenker had stayed. I don't think they ever would've been Rush (not enough "rocket sauce" ??), but I do think they certainly could have been a bit bigger than they ended up being as they wrote some very good songs and plenty more than a couple of them. Glad you saw them and that they were as great as I thought they would be. Don't think UFO could have made it with Schenker. Too much going on there. Too much baggage and history. Moore is great. The new UFO is cool. I wish Pete Way would come back though. By the way, check out 1980-83 UFO with Paul Chapman. Great stuff!
  13. They had their moments. Shiny Happy People Near Wild Heaven and Green Grow The Rushes. Others too.
  14. The original key it was in. They used to do it that way, but it seems Geddy can't sing it in that key anymore. They need to drop it.
  15. A belated very Happy Birthday to Neil! And many, many more!
  16. They are great. Best Pink Floyd tribute band I have ever seen.
  17. I am sorry. I just can't get excited about this band without DeYoung and the Panazzo brothers. I remember Styx as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4_q71gIH98 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Znv0Nj5iKk&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDkW462K_Bw&feature=related Now that was great!
  18. QUOTE (Tony R @ Sep 4 2011, 07:58 PM) Oh and Tick, your use of the future tense suggests that you haven't heard the new DT yet. I have.
  19. QUOTE (goose @ Sep 3 2011, 10:55 PM) QUOTE (Jaminbenb @ Sep 1 2011, 03:19 PM) I think to appreciate Blue Turtles fully, you need to watch Bring on the Night and see that band in action! I didn't know Sting had an album out at that point, and was taking my girlfriend to a movie (we didn't know what to see, we went to a multi-plex and figured something with Sting would be cool because we both like the Police....little did I know that it was a "documentary"! The next day I had the cassette of it and WOW, what a band!!! But I voted for Soul Cages because it's one of my favorite albums! I would vote for Bring on the Night as my favorite. I was impressed by Mercury Falling, and it's the one that gets the most play these days, so that's my pick. The MF concert was a good show in Reno, with Billy Crystal and Robin Williams joining Sting on stage. That's an awesome film. Saw it in 1985 in the theater. Omar's drum solo alone is worth seeing it for.
  20. Alan's great, but Bill and Tony play perfect together. Alan plays better with Chris.
