  2. Welcome indeed! Fun people here...if a bit eccentric!
  3. Knife in the Water. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knife_in_the_Water_(film) Classic Polanski.
  4. QUOTE (Mr. IsNot @ Aug 31 2012, 05:57 PM) QUOTE (ReRushed @ Aug 29 2012, 06:46 AM) QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Aug 29 2012, 08:40 AM) Here's the video. And it's fantastic! Dark.... http://t.co/yb7gK7yj Yes, it's fantastic. I love it. Here's the youtube link: Beauty! Has that Love & Theft vibe going on.
  5. QUOTE (Alexmai @ Sep 12 2012, 04:22 PM) A rush of adrenaline, in roman slang, is one "botta" of adrenaline, kind of "a knock" I don't know the real meaning of the word Rush (it's like Get, many different meanings)... I traduce it as "corsa" that is "running". I see it as if they're running headlong somewhere... I know is not correct, but is evocative
  6. QUOTE (kbomb106 @ Sep 11 2012, 09:55 PM) QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Sep 11 2012, 08:35 AM) We've already seen it live, no need for it again. I'm pretty sure you just discounted like 95% of the tour there.
  7. Cool that you've looked into this. The themes of CA are deep-rooted and universal. Keep digging and tell us what else you find!
  8. QUOTE (goose @ Sep 12 2012, 06:48 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 12 2012, 06:42 PM) I'm actually pretty happy with the setlist since I missed the Power Windows Tour. To me this is Power Windows / Clockwork Angels Tour. Could the setlist use some work? Prehaps. I felt the decision of using Working Man was bad one. I think that slot would have been better filled with any of the below: Xanadu, La Villa Strangiatto, Natural Science, 2112 Overture/Temples/Finale. Another thing, they shouldn't have omitted Limelight. They should have placed that in the Encore and not touched The Spirit of Radio either. Actually if the show would have ended like below it would have much less complaints from fans not brought up in the 80s. One of the biggest problems is Working Man in the setlist once again. Red Sector A YYZ 2112/ Overture/ Temples/ Finale Encore: Limelight Tom Sawyer The Spirit of Radio I think a medley of jams ala R30 would have been cool as well. Actually, little musical nods throughout would placate a bunch of the complaints. The CA stuff sets up well for that, so why not?

  10. QUOTE (Time Traveler @ Sep 12 2012, 06:27 PM) QUOTE (O'Malley's Beat @ Sep 12 2012, 02:33 PM)One has to wonder if Geddy needs, for some reason, less time on the bass guitar. Maybe his aggressive playing style is catching up to him, and having more time on the keyboards will help him stay fresh thru the tour. And the song choices too may benefit his vocal ability over the long tour (with the relatively short winter break). At their age, they have to consider such things. Neil's three short solos as opposed to "the epic" solo he always delivers might be geared toward self-preservation (and sold under the guise of "doing things a bit differently"). And those are my two pence! I agree, good point! I'm one of those who like the fact have a fresh set list! And I love the Synth Period and like CA! I'm of a positive mind about the setlist, too. The 70's rarities that we'd love to see are too much of a strain for Ged to do night after night, so the synth period was the only realistic way to throw dedicated fans a bone. And most fans seem pleased. I've seen the classics enough times, and was planning on giving this tour a pass. I'll go now. But the detractors are correct that this tour is unlikely to bring too many new fans into the fold. Time Machine Tour did that.
  11. QUOTE (zappafrank @ Sep 12 2012, 12:08 AM) We were in section 216 and were bumped to 105 Nice! How much did you save buying the 216 tix instead of the 105's initially, if you don't mind me asking?
  12. QUOTE (eshine @ Sep 12 2012, 06:05 PM) QUOTE (tommyali @ Sep 12 2012, 05:54 PM) QUOTE (rocketom @ Sep 11 2012, 08:56 PM) So there was no Plane Prop. Asshole statement. Seriously.
  13. QUOTE (Rush-O-Matic @ Sep 12 2012, 10:48 AM) QUOTE (Snaked @ Sep 11 2012, 09:19 PM) QUOTE (Alchemical @ Sep 11 2012, 09:58 PM) Cool...but he used the word auspicious wrong. The info came from a tweet... I would venture to guess the individual misquoted him slightly. Geddy, as quoted in the Pittsburgh newspaper: QUOTE The majestic "Bravado" was dedicated "especially, on this inauspicious date [9-11], for those who are gone." http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/ae/mus...els-652948/?p=1 Geddy wouldn't have blown that line.
  14. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Sep 11 2012, 07:36 AM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Sep 11 2012, 06:53 AM) It was a little goofy, but oh well. BTW, what is this magazine doing given album of the year awards out in the beginning of September? Don't we have like almost 4 full months left in the year? I think their month is Sept. to Sept. Actually, unlike the Gregorian Calendar, which is a predictacle cycle, the Prog Calendar is a complex one based on alternating 7/8 & 13/8 time cycles.
  15. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Sep 11 2012, 05:51 AM) QUOTE (Steevo @ Sep 11 2012, 01:57 AM) QUOTE (presto123 @ Sep 11 2012, 08:30 PM)Totally disagree. It's got that GUP vibe guitar and keys. That song just does it for me. Aye, it's a great track throughout that never seems to tire for me I'd be pissed off not to see it live. I didn't like the song until I heard it in the context of the album and realized it probably wasn't what I thought it was about. It's a pretty ass-kicking song overflowing with attitude. One of the best songs on the album. Like you, I didn't care for it until I got the album version in context. Much better! Not my fav track, but it's up there!
  16. QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ Sep 11 2012, 12:53 PM) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/6a/SecondhandLions.jpg/220px-SecondhandLions.jpg I love this line from Second Hand Lions, delivered by Robert Duvall. QUOTE I'm Hub McCann. I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, KILLED MANY MEN and loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand. That's who I am. NOW, GO HOME, BOY! Great choice!
  17. QUOTE (workingcinderellaman @ Sep 11 2012, 03:42 PM) QUOTE (presto123 @ Sep 11 2012, 12:37 AM) The Hitcher with C. Thomas Howell and Rutger Hauer. That was a good thriller! Rutger Houer is awsome. Great movie!
  18. QUOTE (GeddyLeeRoth @ Sep 10 2012, 11:08 PM) QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Sep 5 2012, 07:15 PM) a Gilligan sandwich. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/photos/gilligansislandonline.jpg OMG, I would have loved to have tasted some of Mary Ann's coconut cream pie. --PS, I'm pretty sure Gillighan is covering up a massive erection.
  19. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Aug 30 2012, 12:09 PM) - if you REALLY want to see him as a great actor, check out one of his earliest films, Six Degrees of Separation.
  20. QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Aug 27 2012, 08:43 AM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Aug 26 2012, 04:40 PM) What movies have you seen that are seriously overrated? Pulp Fiction Reservoir Dogs (Tarantino to me is the master of style over substance done in a really over the top, showy, and often completely disgusting way that just does nothing for me. Kill Bill would have made that list too, but I only saw a few minutes of one of those - that was way more than enough.) Unforgiven (I couldn't understand how this even got nominated for Best Picture, much less won it - that action to me remains unforgiven. Then again, I can't stand Westerns... at all.) No Country For Old Men (Similarly, couldn't even understood why it was even nominated - crazy psycho killer chases someone for 2 hours, sheriff utters some incomprehensible nonsense, the end - I don't get it. It wasn't horrible, but it was nothing special to me in any way and a chore to sit through.) Edward Scissorhands (I remember seeing it in the theater with my younger sister and her friend when it came out, and they were literally crying by the end of it. I absolutely HATED it, thought the characters were absolutely horrendously stupid beyond reason and it was an extremely emotionally manipulative film trying way too hard to squeeze sympathy and tears out of the audience. I still think it may be the worst film I've ever seen.) I love all of those. No one here at TRF blows my mind more than Goobs. One minute he atrikes me as this great philosophical demi-god, then he makes some comment like he doesn't appreciate Pulp Fiction or No Country. The epitome of enigma.
