I always felt that Soundgarden could have done this song justice.

Not a full kit, but Danny Carey uses an array of electronic pads.

During the R40 tour he seriously flubbed the drum break in Natural Science in a couple of shows. They are really hard to watch.
-
More of an omission than an obvious mistake, but during Cygnus he doesnt play a snare fill at about the 8:11 mark.

Different Strings is one of my overall favorites. Contains a great outro solo by Alex, and probably Neil's best ever snare sound.

Rate Geddy Lee's singing and vocal melodies on the album Clockwork Angels?
hammerofthor replied to Texas King's topic in Rush
His voice is adequate on CA, but the vocal melodies are horrendous on some songs. -
This Neil won't bring it up for obvious reasons but I believe his family past is the number one reason he is done. The guilt inside him for missing a lot of Selena's youth while on tour or out galavanting around the country must have an impact on his decisions now as he has another young child to take care of. Yes, I've always thought that he was hit extra hard with guilt. Even when he wasn't touring, he was always off somewhere, it seems.

I like both of their respective clean tones from that period, just not together. I think the signature tone would go great with a heavier bass sound, or the other way around. Since VT, both have been a muddy mess.

Halo Effect sounds like a Nickelback song.

Fantastic song. Many disagree, due to the guitar mix, but I love the production and mix on this, and the whole album, really. Sounds big, full, expansive, and just damn satisfying to listen to. Haha

Your favorite post-synth era Rush studio album(1989-2012)?
hammerofthor replied to Texas King's topic in Rush
Test For Echo for me. I think it's really underrated. -
Well, maybe not the best, but pretty damn good.

I'm curious as to the reason why so many hate Spindrift. I think the "closer to you" part is one of the best things they've ever done.

Bottom of the barrel Rush album for me. Spindrift and Hope are all I listen to.

I guess, for some, it's akin to following a sports team your whole life. Up or down, theyre always your team. For me, Rush is about the only thing, from my childhood, that I still follow, so it helps me to reconnect with the kid inside me. But Im nowhere near as obsessed with them as I used to be. I hardly listen to them anymore and it's hard to be objective about their last 15 years or so. I mean, if they were a new band that just released VT, S&A, and CA would I really listen to it? I don't know, but I doubt it.

Presto sounds, to me,like HYF without all the bells and whistles.

Yeah, I don't think Jack Butler is too worried after seeing this.

I love the production of Signals. True, Alex is a little buried, but I love his sound, and think it benefits the material. Plus, you have arguably Neil's and Geddy's greatest sounds. Just a warm, full, lush sounding album with a great feeling mix.

The parts he plays starting at about 1:11 in Before and After always gets me. Also that little bit at about the 1:53 point in The Camera Eye sounds awesome.
