  1. A lady walks into a high class jewellery shop. She browses around, spots a beautiful diamond bracelet and walks over to inspect it. As she bends over to look more closely she inadvertently breaks wind. Very embarrassed, she looks around nervously to see if anyone has noticed her little accident and prays that a sales person doesn't pop up right now. As she turns around, her worst nightmare materialises in the form of a salesman standing right behind her. Cool as a cucumber and displaying complete professionalism, the salesman greets the lady with, 'Good day, Madam. How may we help you today?' Very uncomfortably, but hoping that the salesman may just not have been there at the time of her little 'accident', she asks, 'Sir, what is the price of this lovely bracelet?' He answers,'Madam, if you farted just looking at it, you're going to shit yourself when I tell you the price

  4. Another cracker, though it's almost all left to the imagination... In "Alien" when dalls is looking for the creature in the ventilation shafts and his crewmates who are outside have these motion detectors. All you see is two green lights on the screen, one moving towards the other until the converge with much panicked shouting over the radios. Suddenly they converge, there is a scream, and only one dot is seen moving off. masterful use of suspense....

    Dr Who

QUOTE (treeduck @ Mar 31 2007, 08:07 PM) The first Doctor that I saw was Jon Pertwee back in the early 70s and he was the best for me. When they brought in Tom Baker I wasn't so sure about him at first and it took me a full series to get used to him. After the next season though he'd won me over totally and for the next 5 seasons till 1981 he proved he was the best of Doctor of them all. The actors who followed, Peter Davidson, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy were absolutely shocking, abysmal in fact, along with the scripts. And between them, over the next 7 years, they destroyed the whole show. Peter Davidson was more like one of the Doctor's assistants, Colin Baker was like a parody of Tom Baker and Mccoy, while being the right type to play the Doctor, was hampered by the seeming desire by the producers to make the show into a kid's pantomime... The last three guys including the new one are or were all too young to play the doctor, though David Tennent does have that little bit wild-eyed eccentricity that's required. Tom Baker's the king though and always will be... http://www.foolquest.com/trek%20pix/Tom_Baker_4_b.jpg You've saved me the bother of a lengthy post as I was going to say almost exactly the same thing.

I don't regard music any other way, my friend. Music my life. I wouldn't take it anything other than seriously. Thats ok, but I have a feeling that in years to come you will change your mind on this a bit. I'm not intending to be patronising here, but once upon a time I lived and breathed music. It's just that as life brings more commitments and responsibilities, you have to learn to prioritize, and although I still love music, it just douesn't seem as important as the major things any more. Saying that, it would be a very sad day indeed for me if I learned that music would no longer play any part in my life You're wrong. To me, music is life. But, for the sake of your claim, I bet you twenty internet dollars that in twenty internet years this internet person you've never met will still love music as much as I do today. Twenty years is a LONG time, and a lot can happen...trust me on this. Besides, I never claimed you wouldn't love music as much as you do now, it's just that other stuff will come along which is even more important. For example, if you have children it would be extremely wrong to love music more than them However, in the spirit of sportsmanship, I'll take that virtual bet. I don't know Fridge. I'm 37 and music is still a HUGELY important part of my life. Yes, I have more responsibilities now than in my teen years, but I still listen to and appreciate music just as much as I did then, perhaps even more. I'm just sayin'... And that's how I feel mate... I reckon I still love music as much, but as I'm sure you can relate to, other priorities assert themselves and clamour for your time and attention. You can only spread yourself so thin.....

  16. QUOTE (Finbar @ Feb 26 2007, 06:47 PM) The sooner everybody realizes that their tastes in music have more to do with taste and less to do with whether or not entire genres of music rock or suck as a whole, the sooner we can end this pointless debate about rap and fans can stop getting their backs up and offending each other. I think you are taking this a bit seriously. personally, I have far too much going on in my life to be offended by someone criticizing my taste in music. It's really not that important in the grand scheme of things. However, seeing as I'm here, I'll respond to your point. You are quite correct, there is nothing wrong with simpicity at all. Some of the best songs ever contain three chords. However, there needs to be melody, and I just don't hear it in rap. if you do, then fair play, I'm glad you enjoy it.
  17. QUOTE (Mandalorian Hunter @ Feb 25 2007, 06:42 PM) Fridge, If you haven't been to one in ages, you won't know how fun they are! So i'm guessing you don't like the indie-rave thing that seems to be sweeping across the UK? I didn't even notice an Indie rave whatever sweeping the country to be honest, so i can't tell you whether i would like it or not. Plus, I think at nearly 40 years old I would feel a bit of an old fart a rave, don't you?

Go out one day, and go to a rave, and you won't be dissapointed. Much more fun than going to a rock concert. And once again, it's people looking in the wrong places, there is some VERY good d'n'b out there. Nah.... Rave was shite the first time round and it's still shite now The UK has the BEST DJ's out there. No matter if it's Drum and Bass, House, Breakbeat, Jungle and so on...raves are fun. My friend is a professional breakbeat DJ and it's always a good night when she is mixing Pink Floyd with DJ Deekline and Wizard. I went to a couple of these big raves in the early 90s....Hated them with a passion, and I can see no reason why they would be any better now. I have no interest in DJs whatsoever, all they are doing is (albeit skilfully) mixing other peoples stuff. A computer programme could do it just as well. Check out DJ Q Bert. Damn that guy is amazing! and no computer program can do this. Period. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKD0dJvaPOU Sorry, but that was about as interesting as watching a plank warp.... Obviously, you have no clue how hard it is to do. I've tried it...and it's hard. and i'm a drummer! Need to be skilled to be a DJ...need to be super creative as well. You missed my point completely. I know full well that it is very hard to do as my stepson was quite proficient at it, but that doesn't change the fact that it is utterly pointless and about as entertaining as herpes

  22. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Feb 24 2007, 12:01 AM) I'm sure if I really searched I would maybe like 1% of 1% of country or 1% of 1% of rap. By like, I mean music that I think is good, but that I wouldn't want to actually buy. Just because I might be able to tolerate 1 out of every 1,000 acts and maybe, for argument's sake, I might actually like enough to own 1 out of every 10,000 acts, doesn't mean I'm gonna say I like the genre or have repsect for it. Yeah, it might be a gross generalization to say I hate country or I hate rap, but it's true. Just because I might like 1/100th of 1% of it doesn't change that. Sure, I could spend time going to websites to try and find that 1 act I might like or I can go to clubs to try to find that 1 act that I might like, but why would I want to? There are genres where I know I like a high percentage of what I hear. Isn't that a better use of my time? I have to agree with most of this. I respect what Puppetking and D-13 are trying to say, but remember, most people who are a bit older (I'm not trying to be patronising here) have a lot more "hands on their time" and life commitments prevent us from spending all our spare time listening to and discovering new music. As a result we have to use what time we do have a bit more wisely, and I'm afraid it's simply playing the percentages. We can stick to a genre where it's pretty certain we will like a fair amount of stuff or take a chance on something new. When your time is more squeezed and as a result more precious, it becomes a relatively easy choice to make. Furthermore, remember that it's only music. When I was much younger, it seemed like the be-all and end-all of everything, but the fact remains that there aere other things which are more important as you eill discover in time. I still love music (I still play in a covers band when I can), but it has to be slotted into a list of priorities which life presents. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that the onus is on these supposedly "good" examples of a particular genre to make themselves more obvious. If they are content to remain in relative ocscurity and aren't interested in my opinion, then why should I take the time and trouble to seek them out?
