The bottom line with neil is that when he gets it right he can be little short of devastating (the truly superb and painfully accurate Open Secrets is a prime example) However when he gets it wrong....oh dear....buttock-clenchingly embarrassing. Myself, I marvel at and appreciate the great stuff and laugh and cringe at the rubbish stuff...both are enjoyable in their own way.

QUOTE (Mara @ Mar 7 2011, 03:25 PM) I can't believe no one's corrected this before now, but the line is: "For the words of the PROFITS were written on the studio walls". . . "Prophets" in Sound of Silence, "profits" in TSOR. Yes, a nod to S&G, but with a subtle twist. I for one think TSOR is perfect. You beat me to it...It's actually quite a nice little bit of paraphrasing. Another example is the line in The Pass (even though I'm not keen on the song), about "stars, gutter, cars" etc which is a nod to Lady Windermeres Fan by Oscar Wilde. As for terrible lyrics by Neil....God, there's so many I don't even know where to start But this is hard to beat for pukeworthiness: I knew he was different, in his sexuality I went to his parties, as a straight minority It never seemed a threat to my masculinity He only introduced me to a wider reality

To be honest, I don't really use them now as I find my Switchblade has plenty of gain, though if I was in the habit of going into the really "brutal" realms (which I'm not) then I might require one. I have an AMT Fatal Tube which gives a very nice distortion with quite a lot of tonal options and is very handy as a backup.

It's simply the way it is. With that said, I know very little about Lady Antebellum, but what I do know is that they SUCK! The token woman in the band is hot though I want to go squishy squishy yum yum on her... I am learning new English slang every day thanks to the Duck. Well that's not really English slang more off-the-top-of-my-head-treeduck-slang... Phew. What would have happened if I visited a pub and told the chaps I wanted to go squishy squishy yum yum on the Prince's fiance? They'd probably look at you like: I was hoping for (in a Borat accent) High Five! High Five isn't British slang -

QUOTE (Good, bad, andrush @ Dec 30 2010, 01:04 AM) I want to check this out, but my computer won't let me... Unfortunately the band is now defunct, but you can find the songs here...I kept them seeing as I co-wrote them. They are the first nine songs, the others are ideas I am working on, and they are all live takes in the practice room. http://www.reverbnation.com/#!/artist/...st_songs/215654

Saw them on every tour from Killers to Seventh Son, but kind of lost touch after that....fantastic band live, and everything a proper Metal band should be.

QUOTE (Hatchetaxe&saw @ Dec 29 2010, 10:17 AM) Down By The Jetty, Malpractice & Stupidity. Every home should have these 3. Yes, if not, why not?

Just wondered if anyone else was a fan of this stellar slice of British R&b? They were amazing up until the end of the 70s when they lost original members...they still tour but none of the original lineup remain, so not the same band, but they were magnificent back in the day. raw, sweaty pub rock played like it should be, and Johnny Wilko had this really unique guitar style, almost able to combine rhythm and lead at the same time....amazing stuff....Lee Brilleaux was a real "geezer" as a frontman as well.

I played a gig with one once when I managed to break my old guitar, and a friend lent me this. In it's own way it is a very good guitar, but not really to my taste...too thin and "80s" sounding for me.

QUOTE (the oaks @ Dec 5 2010, 02:38 PM) QUOTE (Imaginos @ Nov 25 2010, 04:20 AM) I've had my Yamaha Pacifica 112 guitar for well over a year and I've had most fridays free as practice days but I'm still not a confident nor competent player. I wouldn't dare play in public (in fact not even my own wife has heard me play). So, has anyone got any tips on improvement/practice techniques (bearing in mind that I can't afford professional lessons)? You have to play more than once a week. Even if its just for a few minutes each day. Make the time to play and play as much as you can. Playing infrequently like that, whatever gains you make in a day, most of it will be lost in the seven days before you play again. Most definitely Even twenty minutes a day is better than several hours once per week.

An email to say our drummer is quitting the band. Also, finding out I will probably be stuck offshore for a few days past the end of my trip due to bloody helicopters rotor blades icing up. Studid f***ing twats who make these flying f***ing rustbuckets, you'd think they could f***ing design something that could fly in cold conditions HELLO!!!!....IT'S THE NORTH SEA IN WINTER!...IT GETS COLD HERE!!! QUOTE (edie @ Nov 26 2010, 06:34 AM) I don't think Jean is a guy.... Oh reeaaaalllyyyy? What could possibly make you think that? Just say the name phonetically,,forget the spelling, and think about it....

Keep at it mate, it's the only answer. I mean, I'm still crap, but bluff and swagger gets me there

QUOTE (bigmoney2112 @ Nov 19 2010, 08:25 PM) That's exactly why he needs a tech that will work just for him and not with other bands. And what is the guy supposed to do when Rush are not touring? Sign on the dole queue? I think it's highly unlikely Rush's management would want to pay the guy a retainer for him to sit idle for two or three years (or more) at a time, don't you?

I can second Steevo here...it's a brilliant programme, one of the few things worth watching on TV.
