Yeah Black Friday is dumb. I used to get mad over it but now I realize that that's just the state of humanity these days....or rather, half of humanity. Half of us are smarter and know not to get involved in something ridiculous like that. The sales aren't really 'better' than standard sales. It's truly a shame that people have to work on holidays but everything's all about raking in the profits nowadays. Doesn't surprise me at all. Also a shame that half the people are so shallow and materialistic and waiting hours, wasting time in their lives they'll never get back....all just to get a big-screen TV. Something that people in many foreign countries will never have. Being with family and enjoying the company of those who care about you (friends, too) is what the holidays should be about, imo.

I'm hopefully receiving the Experience version of WYWH, and the Discovery version of Animals for Christmas.

Amazing band. Going to get their new album soon, & I should probably re-visit their debut as well. One of my friends who's a guitarist looks up to Tosin Abasi like you wouldn't believe.

Link takes you to a dead page - can anyone post a different link to the same article? -
I don't know what to think about this one, it's weird. I liked it but it definitely seems....there's just something I'm not feeling with it, not making much of a connection with it yet. Definitely greatly prefer Insurgentes as of now.

QUOTE (fledgehog @ Sep 27 2011, 01:54 PM) QUOTE (Rush! @ Sep 27 2011, 12:36 PM) Absolute worst / least favorite singles of 2011: Lady Gaga - 'Born This Way', 'The Edge of Glory' say what you want about GaGa's music, her new album is catchier than herpes. Honestly I do think they're catchy - it's mainly because I have to hear both songs all day 5 days per week at my job. It's made me sick to death of hearing them.

Top 5 for me: 1. Animals 2. Wish You Were Here 3. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn 4. The Dark Side of the Moon 5. Meddle

The more I think about The Interdimensional Vortex the more I feel like it went away too quickly; the show didn't last enough. However Gary started the show in 2006 (for those of you who don't know). 2006-2011 is a pretty damn good run if I say so myself. Will always remember the many laughs and great songs / music you've introduced us (and me personally) to over the years Gary.

1. Echoes 2. Dogs 3. Sheep This could change.

I didn't enjoy the new one (The Suburbs) much at all but it had 4 or 5 solid songs. Neon Bible is my favorite, not a bad tune on there. Funeral is alright. Neighborhood #1 and Rebellion (Lies) are the highlights for me.

QUOTE (ReRushed @ Jun 18 2011, 03:54 PM) At the moment, I'm really digging Hot Rats. I always dig Hot Rats- Was & still might be my favorite FZ album. But then again there's Freak Out!, We're Only in It for the Money, Lumpy Gravy, Weasels Ripped My Flesh, Overnite Sensation... the list goes on. His body of work is impressive.

QUOTE (ReRushed @ Jun 18 2011, 01:54 PM) Battles Gloss Drop is a wonderful album. Is it now? I've been meaning to listen to it since it came out but haven't had the chance yet. I'm seeing mixed reviews for it everywhere else, not that I base my opinion off them- just saying...

QUOTE (capoetc @ Jun 14 2011, 09:39 PM) QUOTE (Rush! @ Jun 14 2011, 08:24 PM) I think Earl made a good choice. Same reason I didn't go to see them for this leg either...because I already saw them on the first leg. I'm saving money up so I can see them on the tour for Clockwork Angels when the setlist will be re-vamped. Same set list as the Time Machine tour, except they are swapping out Moving Pictures for Clockwork Angels ... ** Ducking the vegetables being thrown ** Yeah but it'll be new music from Rush- that's the main reason I'm going for. I love the setlist as it is now anyway so it's all good. -

I've read a lot about this band- Been meaning to check em out for a while.

One of my all-time favorite bands. Have to go with Frances the Mute as my favorite, followed by De-Loused and Amputechture (underrated IMO). I also really enjoy the 1st half of Bedlam, & a few songs on the 2nd side but overall I think it's too long. Octahedron is my least favorite & it's pretty boring but has 4 really good tunes on it. Huge fan of all their drummers too...

The King of Limbs is a pretty good record. Not their best, imo, by any means. I think Little by Little and Give Up the Ghost are forgettable. My top 3 are Bloom, Feral (which is getting a lot of flack but I love it), and either Lotus Flower or Codex...can't decide. I agree with what Soni said too in regards to preferring Radiohead's electronic side.

Excellent band. I'd say everything from Bayou Country-Pendulum is worth it. My favorite songs are Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, Commotion, Looking Out My Back Door, & Run Through the Jungle.
-
I have yet to hear it but I'ma listen to it soon & see for myself what all the fuss is about.

QUOTE (Oracle @ Mar 25 2011, 12:53 AM) Anyone who has not heard the spectacular music of Mogwai needs to add the albums Come On Die Young and Happy Songs for Happy People to their music library. Right now. I second this motion--except I'd substitute CoDY with the debut. I didn't realize how concise 'Octopus' by Gentle Giant is--what a fantastic album!!

QUOTE (Good, bad, andrush @ Mar 22 2011, 12:40 PM) and in Vapor Trail (song) at around 2:31 (if i'm not mistaken) there is a noise that sounds like a car door opening, maybe a motorcycle noise? I definitely just heard this. Not sure what it is.....sounds like it could be another guitar layer.
