  1. WOW The Garden is so beautiful, holy crap. So smooth, excellent choice for the closer.
  2. Rush!

    Halo Effect

This song really stuck out to me on my initial listen. Nice & reserved, a bit calmer than all of the previous tracks. Great melody - and I absolutely love the strings!
  3. The Cowbell making a brief appearance in the intro of Seven Cities of Gold.
  4. On "Carnies" right now...really digging the record so far. Kind of reminds me of VT in some ways, kind of harkens back to that raw, gritty, heavy style. Not the biggest fan of the production, I feel like the drums are buried underneath the guitars in a lot of cases. But it still does sound good enough. The actual songs are kicking ass, just wish it was easier on the headphones for me. I'm also loving the effects they're throwing in, it's got a lot of great ambient textures. E #1: Halo Effect is sweet, really loving the strings on this one. What a great touch! It's also more reserved than the earlier tracks E #2: On BU2B now... seriously adoring the strings on this record when they show up. As mentioned before the ambient moments are great. Just keeps getting better & better.
  5. I am a big fan of dubstep when done right: Akira Kiteshi - "Pinball"
  6. I'd like to add House music too: Two of my favorite house tunes right here:
  7. The early-mid 70s songs would be cool but I don't think I'd wanna hear a lower-tuned version or anything. Going with JL on this one.
  8. Totally digging all 3 but I went with Caravan. I really like the direction this record seems to be taking. A sort of throwback, heavier, hard-rock kind of thing. Reminds me of VT a little bit.
  9. A bit too early to tell yet. Although I think CA is off to an incredible start. Just listened to "Headlong Flight" for the first time a few minutes ago. To be performing at this level when you're as old as they are.....pretty fascinating stuff.
  10. Silent Shout is a great record. Don't know anything else by them yet.
  11. Big fan of his 'Heresy' album. Beyond that I haven't heard any of his other work yet. Looking forward to listening to the Melvins collab soon......
  12. I really like the Pet Sounds, Smiley Smile, Sunflower, and Wild Honey records. Not a big fan of Surf's Up however. I thought I would dig it based on the descriptions from some comrades on another site but nope...

    OH MY GOD!

Headlong Flight kicks copious amounts of ass. That is all.
  14. In chronological order: 1. Dark Shadows (1966-1971) 2. Seinfeld (1989-1998) 3. The Sopranos (1999-2007) 4. Six Feet Under (2001-2005) 5. MXC (Most Extreme Elimination Challenge) (2003-2007)
  15. Huge Melt-Banana fan. Wanna see them live so bad. Cell-Scape and Teeny Shiny are class albums.
  16. Watermelon in Easter Hay Probably going to have this played at my funeral. The most beautiful.
  17. Easily their most raw and unhinged live album. I like the rest of their live albums but the production on most of them are mediocre. Also, it was the 70s...the 70s were all about the 'rawk geetar'. But yeah ATWAS possesses a ferocious fire about it - the songs are played with such adrenaline and energy. I even prefer a couple of the songs live versions over the original studio ones. Easily their best live album, for me.
  18. Regurgitated thread (sorry Goob). I honestly could care less about the whole Hall of Fame thing. I mean there are some good bands in there and there are some completely totally non-rock bands in there as well. It's just some dumb organization to me. I can understand why it pisses people off but really, who gives a crap...at least that's how I think about it. The hardcore Rush fans will always hold them to the highest regard and ultimately the whole thing doesn't matter. Also I definitely am of the viewpoint that Rush is 'above' the Hall of Fame anyway. They've always done things on their own terms, and didn't suck ass for money like so many of the acts in the Hall of Fame. Again I stress that it's no use in getting angry over it because half the bands in the damn thing aren't even considered 'rock and roll' by most people's standards. Edit: I hereby declare that this will be my last post ever regarding the stupid, meaningless, completely inconsequential Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
  19. I definitely intensely dislike the band but that's a bit absurd, imo.
  20. Yeah Black Friday is dumb. I used to get mad over it but now I realize that that's just the state of humanity these days....or rather, half of humanity. Half of us are smarter and know not to get involved in something ridiculous like that. The sales aren't really 'better' than standard sales. It's truly a shame that people have to work on holidays but everything's all about raking in the profits nowadays. Doesn't surprise me at all. Also a shame that half the people are so shallow and materialistic and waiting hours, wasting time in their lives they'll never get back....all just to get a big-screen TV. Something that people in many foreign countries will never have. Being with family and enjoying the company of those who care about you (friends, too) is what the holidays should be about, imo.
  21. Oh yeah, another thing. Whenever I'm driving back home from my job or anything else I'm doing I tend to go 20 or even 15 mph down my neighborhood street. I make sure I go no higher than 20 down ANY neighborhood street just because you never know when some kid, an animal, anyone really.. is just going to appear and run into the street. People constantly ride me whenever I do this and it's just bothersome. There's this one woman who lives down the street from me, has a huge white Cadillac Escalade...woman goes 30 & higher mph down the street at all times. I honestly wish sometimes they would hit somebody just to knock some sense into their heads that they're going way too fast down a residential road and that kids and small animals' lives are in danger.
  22. The biggest annoyance, for me, is probably people who don't use turn signals. I can understand some people are maybe distracted, talking to another person in the car, dialing the radio, etc. but for crying out loud it's a simple flick of a switch. Just let the person behind you know what you're doing, it's as simple as that. Other than that I'm not fond of people who drive under the speed limit, especially when they pull out in front of me thinking they have enough time. I then have to slow down, get to their level, and then deal with them going too slow.
  23. I've never really enjoyed any bands that have played at half-time in football games. I'd rather just watch the cheerleaders do a dance routine or something.
  24. I'm hopefully receiving the Experience version of WYWH, and the Discovery version of Animals for Christmas.
  25. Rush!

    Ceiling Unlimited!

Big CU fan here - for me it's probably a top 5 song from Vapor Trails. That whole album is just a gigantic kick of energy.
