You`re No Fun Anymore - Monty Python, Vol. 3
IbanezJem replied to IbanezJem's topic in Video Vertigo
What is the first scene that you shoot this morning? Julius Incisor...Caesar talks to his generals during the battle against Caractacus. Yeah. So, next time you go on about the 'bloody Romans', don't forget you're one of them. I'm a West Country man myself, Mr. Atkinson. West of England...Cornwall. I mean, ooh arh, ooh arh, ooh arh.... nobody does that anymore. How fortunate we were indeed to have such a poet on these shores. When I smileThe sun comes flooding in But when I'm sad It goes behind the clouds again. On tomorrow's chart, the picture is much the same. With this occluded front bringing drier, warmer weather. :sundog: My, isn`t it hot in here! It's a man's life taking your clothes off in public. Sea, sand and sunshine make Paignton the queen of the English Riviera. But for the next six months this sleepy Devonshire resort will be transformed into the blizzard-swept wastes of the South Pole. It's cold enough to freeze your wrists off. It's a real pain in the sphincter! :codger: But you know it's always very easy to blame the big bad rabbit. Because you know, that's where we really ought to start looking. What, behind the rabbit? Oh, blimey. You'd think he was awake all the night, scrabbling down by the wainscotting. Wainscotting. 100 miles south of Turin. 100 east of Pisa. 500 miles west of Bilbao. :sundog: And then some adenoidal typists from Birmingham with flabby white legs and diarrhoea trying to pick up hairy bandy-legged wop waiters called Manuel and once a week there's an excursion to the local Roman Ruins to buy cherryade and melted ice cream and bleeding Watney's Red Barrel and one evening you visit the so called typical restaurant with local colour and atmosphere and you sit next to a party from Rhyl who keep singing 'Torremolinos, Torremolinos' and complaining about the food - 'It's so greasy here, isn't it?' -
Lock and Key, by a large distance. Grand Designs is a bit too peppy for me whereas Lock and Key is more dramatic.

For some time, it looked as though Utd would not get their complementary penalty. -

So, this is Fish`s goodbye record, followed (possibly) by a farewell tour???

Something tells me he does, yes. That is a brutal stretch, though. Time to write off the Cup, and play the kids/subs against Maccabi? The league position (and Newcastle is winnable, and probably ManUre, too, if Spurs are not too fatigued) is the larger target? Definitely write off of the cup, although if Jose and Pep have anything in common it`s a predilection for an early trophy. Suspect Chelsea will phone it in too, so it could be U21s all round. Europe should be easier than the league matches so maybe a few can be benched. I`m fairly sure that not being in Europe would give us a two position boost in the league but it is however easily the best route to CL football again. Maybe Jose will think having this bloated squad is not all bad, after all - but he`ll never let on. -
I kind of remember it happening, although I was only 5, because my Dad was in the Thames Valley police at the time and I`m pretty sure Bonzo was well known for driving his Jensen around the country lanes when not totally sober.

There`s a lot to be said for drummers that leave an amazing legacy. I`m sure there`ll be plenty around the world remembering Neil in 2060, although probably not many of us!

"Available Light" is one of the greatest Rush songs ever made!! Geddy's vocal nails that tune. this supports my point on why I think Available Light is overrated Because Earl said that?! Earl might say three or four dozen different Rush songs are “one of the greatest Rush songs ever made” I could show you other people who thought close of the same thing when I have time And I’ve seen your idea of “EVERYONE thinks (x) is the great! They think it’s 2112 again!” ((your “everyone” is anywhere between 25-50% of those polled)) :P I guess hyperboles don't exist Not when they're so repeatedly exaggerated beyond recognition. But okay whatever. Why does everyone consider Xanadu to be the best Rush song? Why does everyone say Test For Echo is the worst Rush album? Why does everyone say Marathon is the best song on Power Windows? Why does everyone say Counterparts is the best post HYF album? :) It isn`tIt probably is Nonsense Maybe, if they hadn`t made CA *cough cough* Vapor Trails It barely registers as an album :codger: because of the production? I think lyrically it`s quite strong, but somehow it all sounds weak. It should be a really hard rocking record. The idea to switch the roles of guitar and bass was mistake, imo. As you note, the lyrics are strong, as are the songs in general, but the execution doesn't quite work for an entire album. I still think the result is an accomplishment, however, and in small doses the album is some of the band's best work. I`d rather they`d tried polka or reggae versions - well, maybe - as the songs just sound like they`re missing an instrument - and nobody ever felt that about heyday Rush.

So, Spurs get a bye in the Carabao Cup because they paid for Leyton Orient`s Covid tests, and Orient have something like twenty positives. Now Spurs have Newcastle on Sunday afternoon - Chelsea in the Cup on Tuesday evening - Maccabi Haifa on Thursday to qualify for group stage of the Europa League - away to Man Utd on Sunday. Other than the positive that they`re all in England, it seems like a bit of a stretch to expect four decent performances, and this might affect plans to offload players too. I wonder if Jose has an opinion on this? -
And to think of all the trouble people go to with deepfake videos. This is much easier! http://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/sep/25/milli-vanilli-moment-valencias-voice-behind-mask-not-what-it-seems

I saw that story, too -- although the BBC lowballed (sorry) the total to around 320,000 -- which is totally less cringe-inducing! (No, it's not). How poor/desperate does a person have to be to take on that task? Well, we are told recycling will help save the planet, I suppose. Hmm... I saw that too. I `d rather take my chances with a vasectomy

Great to see them looking good. I expected Alex to turn into WC Fields as he aged, and he`s avoided that :D

Well, the head's on OK. But there's still a left arm missing. When I, when I came to this war, I had two arms, two good arms, but when the time came to... to lose one, I .. I gave it gladly, I smiled as they cut if off, because I knew there was a future for mankind. I ... I knew there was hope... so long as men were prepared to give their limbs Well, must be going... if you need any help I'll send Robert round. He could do with a bit of exercise, ha! ha! ha! ha!... Fat old bastard... Then we'll have a rota. We'll have two hours digging, two hours vaulting and then two hours sleeping, okay? The dig was going well that year. We had discovered... :martini: Tungsten carbide drills! What the bloody hell's tungsten carbide drills? Well, I can't make up my mind about this family. I mean, the father was appalling, he was dirty, smelly and distasteful...and I liked him very much. Well, he finds it very difficult to get to sleep on his own, so I said he could sleep with us. Well, I mean like,....you've SLEPT, with a lady.... Taht si crreoct. Revy chum so. Oh dear, we're back to that again. I don't know what to do when you do that. My suggestion.. some precision drilling! And because I'm so evil you'll all die the slow way ... under the drill. It's only 'cos you couldn't think of a punch line. What a good punchline. Pity we missed that. Make a series out of it. I mean, last time we showed a repeat of the Leicester bypass our ratings gave us 97,300,912, and ITV nought. So I do feel we ought to give B roads their own series. Well, Picasso will be starting at Chichester here, he'll then cycle on the A29 to Fontwell, he'll then take the A272 which will bring him on to the A3 just north of Hindhead here. :hi: Most of it's up until you reach the very very top, and then it tends to slope away rather sharply. Anyway, Mr. Rodgers, he's the, er, hermit on the end, up at the top, yes. :codger: I always preferred the outdoor life. Hunting, shooting, fishing. Getting out there with a gun, slaughtering a few of God's creatures. -

Musically boring then. The lyrics deserve better.
