  1. I almost wholly agree with you. . . AFTK sits at #4 in my top 5. I consider their "great" albums to be CoS >>>>> MP. Totally agree with your "magnificent" comment. Hemispheres is my #1 . . . :rush: This order for me - Hemispheres, Permanent Waves=Moving Pictures, Caress of Steel, AFTK - switch Necromancer for anything on AFTK and I'd agree with you. MP or PW could not be any better. I just really, really love Hemispheres (no deep analysis needed - this is the emotional half of my brain speaking!) :rush: I gave you my #4 and my #1 and you were kind enough to respond with all 5 of your top 5 so I will lay out the rest of my top 5. #5=PW #4=AFTK #3=2112 #2=CoS #1= Hemispheres You must think I'm some kind of crazy person, not including 2112. I can hardly believe it myself - ranking albums can elicit results that look surprising to others, such as your omission of MP, and there'll be a big group that demand Fly By Night or Signals are top. Not a band in the world can match that kind of amazing quality between 1975 and 1982.
  2. Good lord! That's the most exciting new idea I've heard in years! It's so simple it's brilliant! Well, if that idea of yours isn't worth a pound I'd like to know what is. All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is my theory, it is mine, and belongs to me and I own it, and what it is too. This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep`s bladders may be deployed to prevent earthquakes. I've forgotten what I said now. What a strange turn this cycling tour has taken. Blackhawkrush appears to have lost his memory and far from being interested in safer food is now convinced that he is Clodagh Rogers the young girl singer. I am taking him for medical attention. Ah, Mr Rodgers, have you got your unemployment benefit please? Right. Well can you write me a cheque then... please? I'll give you the job, and the chair, and an all-wool ex-army sleeping bag for the briefcase, the umbrella, the pens in your breast pocket and your string vest. You'd better take the bloody lupin, too. :eyeroll: Good evening. First take a bunch of flowers... pretty begonias, irises, freesias and cry-manthesums, then arrange them nicely in a vase. Get in! Get in! Get in! getting them in the right order is just as important. Your_Lion used to say to me, 'They're all there Citizen, now we've got to get them in the right order.' Such quiet courage is typical of the way Citizen of the World shrugs off danger. Like it or not, you've got to admire the skill that goes into it.
  3. Love The Weapon. But Witch Hunt is sublime.

  5. 10 seconds on Google What would you search for to find that pic? Photo of Albert Camus :D
  6. Carve Away The Stone ?? Which is what I was alluding to, but the beauty of the internet is that it totally misses subtlety or nuance Jack, relax It did it again

  8. Absurdism is the only philosophy that I can relate to, and that actually helps me in daily life. The Myth of Sisyphus - why didn't Neil write anything called that, about rocks rolling down hills :haz:

  12. AFTK is my least favourite of their great albums. Hemispheres is magnificent. Voting against Circumstances or La Villa Strangiato is something I couldn't do.

  15. Mrs Ratbag, if you don't mind me saying so, you're badly in need of an expensive course of psychiatric treatment. Professor, you were responsible for finding Scanty-Panties and Golden Goddess High-Lift Bras on planets which were never thought able to sustain life, and now that man has discovered a new galaxy do you think we're going to see underwear become even naughtier? a new 'naughty nightie' - put it on and it melts - just watch their faces. Guaranteed to break the ice at naughty parties Mount Everest. Forbidding. Aloof. Terrifying. The mountain with the biggest tits in the world. The object of this expedition is to see if we can find any traces of last year's expedition.  The dig was going well that year, We had discovered some Hittite baking dishes from the fifth dynasty, and Sir Robert was happier than I had ever seen him. Thank you Robert. Well that seems to be about all we have time for tonight. Unless anyone has anything else to say. Has anyone anything else to say? I want to have Raquel Welch drop on top of me. You have green, scaly skin and a series of yellow underbellies running down your tail... I use Rancid Polecat number two. It keeps my skin nice and scaly. Erm... that sounds good. Anyway just have a look... take your time. Oh, err... by the way - got a bit of a dirty fork, could you ... err.. get me another one? Here comes another oneHere it comes again Here comes another one When will it ever end? That will become apparent in one moment m'lud. Mr Aldridge, are you considering the question or are you just dead? I think I'd better take a look m'lud. No further questions m'lud. One final question IbanezJem, and the beautiful lounge suite will be yours...Who won the Cup Final in 1949? It was in fact a trick question. Coventry City have never won the FA Cup Extremely well not played there. Yes, beautifully not done anything about. This is of course symptomatic of a new breed of footballer as it is indeed symptomatic of your whole genre of player, is it not? Well, as you can see, there's Otana now, he gets the through ball from Gomez, and he makes no attempt to play the ball. Nietzsche has just been booked for arguing with the referee. He accused Confucius of having no free will, and Confucius he say 'name go in book', and this is Nietszche's third booking in four games.
  16. The vocals aren't bad throughout, just early on as you say. I think the best thing to have done would have been tune down the instruments, as when Geddy gets it right he still sounded great. He nails Working Man.
  17. It is obvious how differently they process this, and I guess that's because Alex and Neil were ready. Two guys look like this is a final blast and one like it's more emotional and he doesn't quite want to stop.
  18. What is wrong with them? Paralysed by awesomeness? "Careful mate. Don't risk spilling your beer just for this"
  19. I watch that concert a lot - certainly watch the Moving Pictures set a lot - and I think the polka stuff is funny. I love how amused the guys are, and then how quickly they switch focus to deliver versions of La Villa Strangiato and Working Man with really brutal power.

  21. The one at the end of The Garden is a tear-jerker. I said it years ago and I'll say it again - what a song to end a 40+ year career on. Don't care much for CA, but The Garden is a masterpiece. I am not sure if The Garden would be as big a tearjerker if it were Track 5 on Vapor Trails, but when you know it is literally their last song, I find it hard not to feel emotional, every time, especially during Alex's solo. I love the lyrics too...it's very moving. It's a very emotional song. And that guitar just grabs me. I love watching the video of it from the CA tour. The CA Ensemble really add to it. I have to skip it sometimes, like when at work...it really should be listened to intently, not just playing in the background whilst you do something boring. It deserves attention. And I don't really want to listen to it sometimes as I don't want to feel like Rush are done...

  24. Is this the same version as on Hemispheres 40th?
  25. I wouldn't argue with your choices, especially Necromancer. I like simple, punchy riffs so would nominate Circumstances and Freewill. Witch Hunt ("they say there are strangers, who threaten us") too.
